He made me feel confident in my decision to have them fix up my place. I needed a variety of things fixed. My Jalousie windows unstuck and the broken cranks replaced. Worse, now that I've completed most of the major jobs needed around the house, even the good ones tend to be too busy for smaller jobs. In this limited environment of reliable experts, Scott has been a Godsend. Even with his busy schedule, he promptly returned my call. After explaining the small types of work that I needed done, he still made the time to come to the house and promptly provided an estimate. I've dealt with enough contractors to know his prices were more than reasonable and since I had already bought all the materials needed for my small projects, he didn't require a down payment to reserve the date which I appreciated since I've been burned with percentage down and then the contractor "disappeared." Good on his word, he scheduled me in within a two-week period (my stuff was Jon-emergency/urgent fixes) AND actually showed up as scheduled. He's also meticulous on his work and, even faced with unexpected obstacles (lack of light boxes for two ceiling fan changeouts, electrical cable issues for another ceiling fan, non-fitting lock enclosure for keyless lock, etc.), he calmly and at no additional cost, expertly finished everything in a timely fashion. He also looked up what was needed for me to add a security camera system for my place and looked up the company's website. While placing the mounts, he also patiently showed me what I would need to do to finish off the process on my phone. Finally, instead of rushing from one task to another, he took the time to clean up before moving onto the next project. In short, I'll stick with Scott from now on for any project that I need done. I have to say, Scott, I can't thank you enough for the great conversation and the fantastic job you did on my door. Long story short, after a night of drinking, I found myself in a pickle and really had no other option than to kick my door in to regain entry into my house. It was a bonehead move I will admit but regardless I had to get my door fixed up. I sent out a quote to all the repair companies and I was getting quotes as high as $1000 and saying that they would be shoddy Jerry-rig Jobs. Because of the reviews, I decided to call to see if they would change an old transition piece on my floor. It was a small job that other companies had come to look at and never returned. Well, that wasn't true for Affordable Renovations and Handyman Services. I spoke to Scott and he told me he would send someone to look over the job either that day or the next. Later that afternoon, David, one of the companyʻs handyman, called and asked if he could come by in 15 minutes to check out the job. He looked it over and said he would be able to fix it. We were concerned because my mom, who is handicapped and uses a walker, is away and would return by the end of the month and wanted it to be fixed by then. He said no problem and that he would come either the next day or the day after that to get it done. Scott called me a few minutes later and asked me which transition piece I wanted (he had texted me 3 different pieces he had) and said that if it fit, there would be no charge for the piece because he wouldn't have to buy another one for the job. After checking with David, it was determined that the piece was too short but I appreciated the effort to try and save me money. Who does that today? The next day, David returned with a transition piece that matched the colors of the different floors perfectly and in two hours the job was done. The installers of the original piece had taken short cuts, so the replacement involved manually removing the piece and digging out the glue and debris that were stuck inside the track. David did this with a smile and left the area very tidy and clean. The price was very reasonable and less than other handyman companies had quoted me. I would definitely use this company again not only because they are so good at what they do but also because they are easy to work with, they listen, are efficient, are neat and clean, on time and they try ways to save you money.
