I contacted them Sunday night and by Monday morning they had contacted us and set an appointment for that same day. They arrived on time. The job was to install a door from our laundry room to the outside. My 78 year old partner had tried to install it himself after waiting 3 weeks for a Home Depot installer to contact him. When the original door was removed, it was clear to see that the opening had been modified. The original door was not the correct size for the opening. We had already bought a door from the original door measurements. Knowing that we would not be able to do it ourselves, I contacted Kama'aina Handyman. They did an excellent job and built a new frame for the doorway. They also replaced some cinder blocks that had broken with wood framing to make sure the door was straight and plumb. Had a four day project replacing two gates. Joe came out for the first day and relocated the posts before one of his workers came in to finish the project. After about five months, and some high winds and rain, the slide lock on one gate didn't line up, along with the lock coming off and one hinge coming out of the post on the other. Called Kama'aina Handyman to repair them. I was going to pay them to fix the problems since it was months after the install. Joe came out and fixed everything at no additional cost. I know he saw the defects from their earlier installation and made everything right...no actually better than the original installation. Needed to repair our neighbor's wall/ceiling after accessing our pipes through their unit, and Kama'aina came through relatively well! Response times were expedient and they kept in touch very well, never going more than a week without updates or communication leading up to our project date. Our handyman also called upon arrival, which can be 50/50 these days, and I appreciate being made aware of arrival before a knock on the door, as I have loud dogs that rush the door when startled. Our handyman, Hoku, was very helpful, communicative and kind, and I appreciate his efficiency in the work he provided today. My neighbor did however notice some leftover debris from the job, as well as a paint mixer left behind, so clean-up was not the best, unfortunately. One thing I'm a little unhappy with is the fact that we were quoted a range and our final invoice exceeded that by a couple hundred dollars--I understand paying for labor & materials, but the near $400 difference shocked me a bit. Besides the paint job and leftover debris, the work looks to be worth most of the cost. Overall, good, responsive and reliable company for handiwork. I was very happy with the great customer service I received from obtaining a quote through Yelp, speaking with the office staff, and seeing the Techs complete the job quickly and thoroughly. The cost of the job was fair for the work done. In fact, the Tech determined that the job would not be as extensive as was originally quoted based on the photos I sent them to re-attach a conduit that housed our electrical cables from the electricity pole to our house. To clarify : We were told the air conditioners units we originally bought could be installed if extra support was built in -so we paid extra for that support. We did not know that water would be dripping onto the house. One unit was found to be faulty, and was replaced in the same manner-with the condensation dripping onto the house instead of being connected to the drip pipe present, without our knowledge. Since we are senior citizens,, are not installers, and were absent for several months after the installation due to health and other reasons, we did not see the problem until we returned months later. When we later found the damage caused by the water drainage (condensation?) tubes never being connected to the pipe that was by the ac units, we were told that the person who did the work was no longer employed there. So, apparently, the person who installed the ac units without the proper connection to the drainage pipe was not there to install new ac units properly or fix the damage. We did order new units when we found out the first ac units were recalled. They were here to be installed to correct the drainage problem. We waited for Kama aina to replace the recalled units and fix the drainage correctly with the new units. We were willing to pay for the second installation to be done correctly but their estimate was more than twice the estimate for the first ac units which had caused the damage by leaving the condensation drainage dripping onto the house. We tried repeatedly to communicate in writing about the problem, never rudely. We did not at any time pursue damages, just corrective action. But we ended up having to hire another company to fix the problem before it got worse, and install the new ac units. We handled the recalled units as that company instructed us. read more

Needed a new window ac that we bought installed but in an awkwardly high space. Not low like you normally see. Our old one was near the ceiling. Ricky was prompt and communicated well. It took awhile for him to remove the old ac but other then that the installation went well. Removed old ac. Installed new ac. Cut wood , painted and secured wood to the open space. Sealed any open spots. Removed our old ac all the while telling us what he was going to do. Price I would say is a bit on the higher side but considering it wasn't an easy installation and I didn't have to do it... it was definitely a fair price.
