The owner came out and did the measurements and told me to go in and talk to Michelle about what carpet exactly I wanted. I brought in a sample carpeting I had found from Home Depot and she said all of the manufacturers are the same and she had that carpet. She found it and let me feel it and showed me the back. We placed the order and I paid to have a sample shipped to me. When it came in it was nothing like the quality sample I had brought in. I took it up to her and we argued about how she did a bait and switch. I said I wanted to cancel the order since it was not the product we had agreed to. The owner's wife (I think) called me and defended her rude staff. We ended up having to have our credit card company dispute the charge to get our money back. Come to find out, they never should have even agreed to do the carpeting because our bamboo was floating floors (as the owner saw when he came out), and any reputable carpeting company would explain that putting carpeting over floating floors will result in wrinkled carpets due to the shifting. So glad they ended up sucking from the start to save us $7,000 and a headache down the road.

The quality of materials and workmanship is outstanding. What really excels is Allen's communication. After dealing with 2 other builders first, the communication with Westbrooke was the defining measure. Another defining measure was the contract. I didn't want to sign until I had a contract attorney familiar with home building take a look after a bad experience with a different builder. The attorney told me that the Westbrooke Contract was a good contract to sign and looked after the interests of both the builder and the homeowner if things were to ever have to go to court.  We had the very best experience building with Westbrooke. Every idea we had Allen gave thoughtful consideration, and even when he knew it wasn't a good idea, he held our hand to show us how it could work or explained why it's not going to work. We trusted them to be the experts and their trust was well earned. Building a house is hard. We went through many ups and downs over a 3 year period. Empire masonry was called out to do a second inspection. Upon their inspection, We were quoted the repairs would be a total of $2250.00 and three days of work. Because of this estimate, we negotiated the repair costs as a credit to purchase the home. Approximately one month later, we attempted to schedule the repairs. We were told that within the one month from the time of the first inspection to scheduling repairs, there were more cracks and far more repair work that needed to be done. We were told that "it was a mistake" on the first quote. Empire masonary was completely unwilling to honor the first quote or even negotiate a new quote. They claimed they did not need a yelp review, however, we feel that the way they handled their "mistake" was extremely unprofessional. We negotiated repairs based on their quote and went into the home purchase trusting their professional opinion. Empire masonary seriously dropped the ball, and left us scrambling to find another company. We now do not know what kind of repairs costs we are even looking at to repair the chimney because of such a poor inspection.
