The crew that showed up to move us from Abilene to San Angelo was absolutely jam-up. We genuinely appreciate their hard work, professionalism, and effort. However, the pricing and communication were not handled correctly. Prior to hiring, the team lead came out to verify the site-unseen estimate we had received the day before. At that time, the price was confirmed for the entire move. It was acknowledged that it might take more than one load--which we understood--but no contingency, plan, or additional cost structure was discussed for the extra trip. Upon departure of the first load, we were subsequently told that an additional $800 would be required to bring the remaining items, despite no change whatsoever in scope. In my business, if something will require more time or resources than originally estimated, a change order is required--and as soon as possible. There was no acknowledgment of an erroneous under-estimate, just additional charges, or..."the lowest he could do it for..." For clarity: * initial estimate: quoted and agreed upon $1,800 for the job, then billed $1,895 * Second trip: additional $800, billed $850- apparently the job doesn't include a second trip, Total: $2,745 for 2 loads slapped into 1.5 storage units, sent in a 32-ft box truck (labor included) For comparison, the last moving company we used also underestimated--but they owned it, corrected it, and we happily paid them for their trouble; they earned it. We don't expect anything for free. We do expect accuracy in the quote and a clear plan for contingencies before agreements are made, and shouldn't be forced to pay after the fact..(which is unlawful btw). Bottom Line: Don't over-promise and then under-deliver. I didn't appreciate that, and it felt predatory in nature. Your last-minute add-ons ($95 + $50) earned this fair and honest review. My mother hired this moving company to help transfer some items from a storage unit to my late grandmother's house. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. One mover in particular was unprofessional and rude, making unnecessary comments about some of our belongings that were damaged. They accused us of complaining about the price when we were simply asking for clarification on charges, and even threatened to cancel the appointment. To add context, my mother and I traveled from out of town specifically for this, she's from Arizona and I'm from San Antonio. Having to deal with this kind of treatment just added a lot of unnecessary stress to an already emotional situation. I wish I could give -1000 stars... This company shouldn't be in business anymore with all the negative reviews. They cancelled my moving appointment 2 days before the day of! Why? The other people booked on the same day supposedly changed their destination to a location further away, and therefore would be too late to move my things. They didn't even care that I had to find another company with 2 days notice. I'm soo glad that I didn't have to pay a deposit cause with how nasty they are, I probably would get the run around and take days to get it refunded. The owner of this company, Paul, is the most nasty person I have ever spoken to. He is unprofessional and seems to be mentally unstable, judging by how he spoke to us. He cussed, and called me a liar when I said we had an appointment scheduled from between 2-4. (he said that wasn't an appointment, it was an estimate). Ok, so, we planned for this company to be there somewhere during those hours. He said that utility company have a 4 hour window. My thought is, if you can't get your schedule to within the 2 hours YOU schedule, then you should consider adjusting your window to 4 hours. Set realistic expectation, instead of being nasty when you can't work within the timeframe you set. They evidentially overbooked too many moves before our appointment, due to rain rescheduling and then said they couldn't be there during the appointment window. We tried to explain that we had to come from out of state for this move and that pushing this back by hours wouldn't work, because we had to drive back. He was beyond unhinged and told my husband to come fight him, when reality was no one was being remotely unreasonable except him. This company parked their truck in the middle of the parking lot, where I could not park to get to my apartment. I have heart and kidney failure. We asked them to move. But as he was on the phone he didn't hear me I guess. So we made a little honk. They all laughed and got in the truck. As they drove by, they all flipped us off and honked. No emotions. Just facts. My appointment was threatened to be canceled today because I inquired about a 150 dollar price increase upon the arrival of the crew. When I called to book the appointment last week, I was told it was an hourly price of 260 but when the crew showed up today; The lead told me it would be 350-400 an hour. I didn't understand the price hike!! So when I called and spoke to Denise she explained that the technician would set the price on arrival. I was pretty much stuck since I flew into San Angelo to do the furniture move THIS WEEKEND. I felt pressured, and FORCED on paying this since I didn't have an alternative option and I proceeded to inquire on how payment would be taken (cash, tap,etc) and I politely hung up. when I went back into the unit, I noticed the lead was on the phone. Shortly after, the lead comes into the storage unit and told me I was being rude and disrespectful when I called questioning the price and literally walked away telling his crew to take stuff off the truck! First of all, you were not witness to the phone call and I have a RIGHT to inquire about a different qoute when someone I never spoke to is setting the price upon arrival! That is not the price I agreed to. Your website literally says it gives the qoute in real time and I spoke to Denise about it before deciding to contract this company. The contents of a unit shouldn't matter when it's a charge per hour. It's an agreement that the CUSTOMER agrees to upon initially looking to hire someone for a job. 1. Called to get an estimate on moving. Got a quote of 3200 plus 300 to pack. 2. Met owners at home at scheduled time. Right before appointment significant other called and said that he wanted to move everything but to get a quote on them packing everything up for us. 3. Explained to owners that we just decided to moved ourselves but would like a quote on packing only. 4. Was told they don't just do packing. I immediately said I was sorry and the male owner said "it would have been nice if you would have called and let us know". Kindly explained I didn't know they don't provide a packing service. Male raised his voice and said that I could at least be considerate and I again apologized. He then raised his voice and said I could have still called. I asked him to leave my home for yelling at me. He left yelling, calling me a fucking bitch and a Karen. The while walking to his car said fuck off bitch. I literally apologized the minute after he said they don't do that service. Never been talked to this way in my entire life. I have personally had them move me multiple times, and as a realtor have recommended them to my clients who have been extremely impressed and satisfied with their work. We scheduled a move Sunday for Tuesday granted it was short notice but it was the first company we called and they accepted the job even with short notice. Tuesday, movers showed up were great but lift gate was broken on truck so needed to come back on Wednesday to move some heavier items with a different truck. Wednesday Paul called my husband said they had a larger job come up and would not be able to do it until Thursday. My husband explained that he is only off for so many days. Paul got angry when Jerry tried to defuse the situation Paul just kept on saying they tried to fit us in which is not what we asked for. Paul told Jerry we needed to find new movers which we did , Welch movers showed up within 30 mins and did great. Affordable Movers still had a mirror that was not left the night before so I called and asked when it would be dropped off at our new house. Denise asked why I sounded upset. I was shocked why she would even ask that. She said the mirror would he delivered Wednesday evening. Wednesday evening Denise called and said it would be Saturday because they are not driving out of town again. I told her that was unacceptable they have already been paid to drive out to our new house and back and that is where the mirror needed to be dropped off today she replied with the only option she had was my old location a door drop off or Saturday. Very rude very unprofessional. The 3 young boys that moved us were amazing the owners of this company however have horrible customer service. read more

Affordable Movers was the third time we have hired movers in our lifetime. We were amazed at the difference in professionalism and service that Affordable Movers gave to our job compared to our previous experiences with movers. They were so friendly and knowledgeable. Cancelled on us at the last minute too! They wouldn't even re-schedule. Paul said that they would not be doing our move and hung up on me. Because we were dealing with a deadline, we had to pack most of this ourselves. This was even more difficult for us because my husband has cancer. Affordable movers completely left me in a huge bind this week. I had pre scheduled with the owner Denise a few weeks ago. We had been in regular phone contact regarding the size and times of the move. When the time and day of the move came they were an hour and a half late. When the owner, Paul showed up I showed him the items that were to be moved. I was told by Denise to pack up the fridge and freezer in preparation. This task was done and ready to go. Paul proceeded to say he would be right back after he backed his truck and trailer into my driveway. Instead he drove away without a word and never returned. After approx an hour I called the office wondering what happened. After three hours and several unanswered calls I finally received a call back from Denise stating that they decided they were unable to handle the job and it was now longer their company policy to notify the customer in person that were not able would not be completing the job as promised. I was completely blindsided and shocked and disappointed by their unprofessionalism and cowardice. I have used and recommended this company several times over the years. When I first contacted them, I was told that my cost would include 4 men and that my move should not take more than 3 to four hours (including what was in my house and storage room). On the morning of the move, they did not show-up at the prescribed time. I had to take some of the blame for that, as I did not contact them the day before to confirm the appointment. I was told by Denise they were running behind because they had worked late the previous night. When they showed up, an hour later, they had only two guys. Then, the supervisor, Paul, said that what I had planned would be more of an 8 to 9 hour move. When I repeated what his wife, Denise, had quoted me, he said she was incorrect. I asked about the other personnel, he said there was one more coming, but he had had to take a test. Still not four men as I had been quoted in writing. I quickly got the impression that he didn't want to move our boxes, he told me that was the time consuming part of the job and he questioned if I would be able to afford it. I finally told him to just grab the big items and take care of those. The third guy showed up an hour after the beginning of the job and all three moved slowly. I was tied up in loading personal vehicles with boxes to watch their work. Once they completed delivering the furniture to the new house, Paul offered to do our storage room I told him no and was charged the full amount, of four men when I had really only had two and a half. It is my observation that the whole experience started because they had forgotten about the job and had to throw together a team at the last minute. I feel as if I was lied to and was extremely disappointed in how me and my family were treated. I do not recommend them to anyone. I scheduled my move with this company 3 weeks before my move on August 4th. I explained to Denise that I had a wedding the evening of the 4th and that I needed to make sure they could accommodate me. She assured me that would not be a problem and set the time that they would start to be about 9:30 or 10:00. I was in contact with her several times before the moving date, updating her as to what I was going to need moved. Each time, she said there wasn't any problems. During on of these conversations, I was told that they would be later than 10:00 due to another move that they were going to need to complete. I reminded her that I had a commitment that evening and she assured that they would be done in time. On Saturday, the 4th, I received a call from them saying that they weren't going to be there until nearly 12. I again, reminded them of the prior commitment, and was told they were doing the best they could to get there. A few minutes before 12, I received a TEXT from them saying that due to MY time constraints, they needed to reschedule!! I texted them and explained I couldn't reschedule because I had everything packed and ready to move. No response. I also called, several times. Again, no response. I texted them this week to let them know what they did was certainly unacceptable as a business and as a fellow human being. I got a response: I was told I had emotional problems! I didn't have any problems until they cancelled on me. I would NEVER recommend this company. read more

Unreliable moving company with terrible customer service and business practices. I contacted this company in order to help me with a local move. Gave me a decent quote and we scheduled a date and time for the movers to show. The female employee stated that they would contact me 30 minutes prior to arrival. Movers were supposed to arrive at 11 AM. I should have received a call at 10:30, but did not. I contacted the company at 11. The female employee stated that the movers were running late and that she had just received a text from one of the guys and she would find out how late they were running and let me know. I told her that I should have been contacted prior to their show time and she stated "she was doing the best that she could". She called me back a few minutes later and stated that they were running 3 HOURS behind! I told her that if I knew that this was going to be the case I would have hired a different company she stated "well now you have that chance". Terrible customer service and business practices. Not reliable in the slightest. I don't even know how this company is still in business. Worst experience with a company ever. The only reason I gave this company one star is because I could not select anything less. read more
