His estimate, based on an hourly rate + transport costs, was upfront and clear. the closest competitor took a week to process a bid and came in 100% higher, with a two week delay in scheduling the work. Mark's 2 person crew were young, strong, hard working, amicable individuals. Coordinating the move from a wall to wall, floor to ceiling, end to end tightly packed and secured PODS unit in Grandville, MI to Traverse City was not simple nor easy. The transfer from POD to trailer took five of us 2 hours. There were several pieces of nice furniture and many tubs and boxes of fragile items. Not a single item was scratched, scuffed, or damaged in any way. Transfer into our residence went more quickly and in 1.5 hours they were done. I couldn't have been more pleased. Affordable Movers - Heavily packed 16' POD carefully transferred to a 28' trailer in two hours! - Movers Near Me - Traverse City, Michigan

Not a professional experience. Booked a month in advance and they did show up on time. It took them 3.5 hours to unload a professionally packed 16 foot truck, walking 50 feet to two empty storage units. One of the two kids (they had to be 18yo max) was sick so he basically moved one tiny thing at a time while leaving his older brother to do all the work. In addition they wedged fragile WELL MARKED BOXES in the middle of giant stacks of items. I dread opening these items. It was also not explained to me that I would be paying travel time etc and they do not take CCs so I literally did not have enough money to pay them (as I anticipated 2 hours MAX!!!). When I explained my frustration to the boss (Mark) he told me "you can't win 'em all". I had to pay one of the kids girlfriends via Venmo to complete the transaction. I was supposed to use them again at the end of the month when I move into my new home, but that's a HARD PASS. read more

DO NOT USE THIS MOVER. YOU WILL DEFINITELY REGRET IT. They charge $99 an hour, but move your belongings SO SLOWLY that my 77 year old mother got frustrated and started helping. Mom figured that working alongside them would motivate them, but she was moving more quickly than they were. It was truly pathetic. They said that they were balancing out the truck, but took the lightest pieces from each room, leaving the heavy furniture. It made no sense. We paid them off after the first load, rented a truck, and hired a few guys that I knew from the gym to help and got it done in 1/3 of the time. They're very young and inexperienced. They were smoking a vape during one of their afternoon breaks and the weed slowed them down even further. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

Unbelievably awful. We wanted to use Two Men and a Truck, but they were booked. We looked at other movers, but they were also booked. So we contacted these guys as a last resort. All we needed was unloading. I spoke to a man named Mark Weber one month before our out-of-state move, and he told me, "We've got you. We'll take care of you. Don't worry." I asked him if I could email him, and he said that "he don't mess with no computers." He asked me to confirm the move the day before, which I did. He said they'd be there. The morning of the move, I texted him with our ETA, which was going to be about 15 minutes early. Mark called and said that he raises dogs and doesn't believe in putting them on leashes, and they had gotten out. So he would have to go get fencing. He told me it would be around 10:30 and "your phone will ring by 11:00" (two hours after they were due to be at our house). 11:00 came and went. I texted, called, and left a message. At 11:19, I got a call from a man saying he was Mark's supervisor. He told me there was no way they could unload our stuff, but that they'd be at our place tomorrow around 1:00. Mind you, we had been unloading OUR OWN 26' TRUCK since 9:00. We had some EXTREMELY heavy pieces of furniture that we absolutely could not move by ourselves. I asked the man on the phone what we were supposed to do, and he shrugged me off. I said, "So, you don't have anyone you use as backup?" "No." "Can you recommend anyone to help us out?" "No." I asked him what kind of deal he was going to make us for the inconvenience. "Instead of the $99 an hour rate, I can give you $95 an hour." I said, "You're only going to give me $4 off?" He apologized insincerely and said he would give me 50 cents a mile instead of a dollar. The next day at 12:25 pm, 35 minutes before Affordable Movers was due to show up, I got a call from Mark. "You're really gonna hate me. This lady's got way more sh*t than we thought, and we're already 5 hours in. There is no way I can make it to you today or even tonight or even tomorrow. We're booked through next week." We ended up unloading the entire 26' U-Haul by ourselves, all except for the heavy pieces of furniture. Thankfully, after we told Two Men and a Truck what had happened to us, they came through, as they always do, and squeezed us in for a couple of hours. It goes without saying that they were spectacular, and we were so grateful for their help. Otherwise, the only thing we could think of was to go to Goodwill and see if they could unload our furniture and sell it. These were pieces that had been in the family for 30 years, and we would have had to take everything out of them as well. Horrible. Absolutely do not use Affordable Movers under any circumstances. Called for a quote on a move, owner felt he needed to explain how much he pays his guys to justify an outrageous price...when I questioned if I needed to pay for drive time he seemed to feel that I questioned his manhood and went into a demeaning explanation on how he needs to pay his "professional movers" for their time. When I declined his service, based on a cost that is 3 times the other quotes I got, he got angry and used profanity when hanging up. Unbelievably bad experience. The movers were very young with only a few months experience (I asked them) and one was a real smart ass. He just dumped my stuff in the basement, upstairs, etc. and I had a bigger mess than when I started. Their charge is $80/hour for two people (who they pay $11 / hour) + mileage to get to your house + the travel time so it's a HUGE expense for really low quality and sketchy laborers. The woman on the phone said they could help with whatever I wanted but one of them set up my washer wrong and they were not worth spending the $$ to do some other things I wanted. The only good thing I can say is that they were available on very short notice but in the end I wished I had kept calling around as the guys they sent out were terrible! read more

Got a quote and they called 2 days ahead of time to firm up (this is after the deposit is not able to be refunded) and at that time, they want cash and/or a cashier's check to be given to the driver. RED FLAG. I felt I could manage it until they showed up and said that we were sold only 1/2 of a box truck and it was going to take 2 trucks (my husband told them how big our house was and what was to be moved); This made it 4 times the amount and no way was I going to accept this. They had us in a pinch the way they do the business. We closed on our house and scheduled them right after. We took off work and then they would keep our deposit. They refused to answer my calls until I told them that I was going to keep calling and fill up their answering space. I was not going to stop calling. They came off a little. Everything I wrote fragile on, something was broken. The boxes I didn't write fragile on and they were fragile, they made it just fine. It's like they dropped the box on purpose to break your stuff. Beware!! ....Save your furniture and your $$$. I had these clowns move some furniture from one room on my main level to an upper bedroom and they could barely manage it. Not only did they to put a nick on the front of my furniture and they couldn't even figure out how to hook up the electronics once the item was moved! I ended up spending over an hour on the phone with Charter trying to untangle the big mess of wires. Also, I can attest to the lack of work ethic and attitude...not only were they very young and inexperienced but seemed to have no interest in satisfying the customer.
