Horrible. Save your money and use someone else. Hunt is so unprofessional. He comes in with a low bid at cost plus just to get the job and needless to say he doesn't stick to it. Hunt even left off big items like slab which he added another $7500 to our total. Our remodel started at $58,000 and before we knew it, it was$65,000 plus. Then he decides to text me the next day and said he has a guy that will be available for free estimate.. I said "Why did you say you will charge $150 for an estimate then? I don't like how you are trying to scam. First impression and my gut is telling me find someone else.." I placed an online inquiry about some work I need completed at my residence. I got a reply, with my name spelled incorrectly, and only stating that they could help with my remodel. Literally, "Hi, we can help with your remodel." I had no idea who was contacting me as I have sent multiple messages to different companies for quotes. Once I asked, the person stated, "Hunt Warner Affordable Remodeling." No, hi I received your message and we would be happy to help. No greeting. There was no inquiry into when I would be available for someone to stop by. No phone call to better understand or address my inquiries. I asked when someone would be available to come by my house to give me a quote. The reply was "tomorrow. Address?" I gave up and didn't reply. I felt this was already very odd and unprofessional. I received a text 24 hours later asking, "need licensed contractor?" I said, I think I'm good. The reply said "me too." The whole conversation and situation was very odd. read more

There were several issues with this company. I recommend steering clear. I hired this company to do bathroom remodeling on my upstairs bathrooms and to help finish out my basement. Every aspect of the job came in over estimate - even demolition. The GC, Hunt Warner, decided to have the tile done prior to sheetrock in the bathrooms, and there are still several gaps around the showers where the wall is not sealed. You can literally see into the framing between. I had asked whether the drywall guys could patch a couple uneven spots in another part of my house while they were here, which they said they would. For about 20 minutes of extra work, I was surprised to be invoiced $2000. I have been waiting for 6 weeks for repairs he has promised. Unfortunately I will have to seek a legal remedy for the situation. That said, several of the sub-contractors were fantastic, and I would happily recommend, with the extremely notable exception of Spartan Roofing Solutions, who did the drywall work. If you're looking for professionalism, communication, expertise, and accountability - I'd recommend finding another company. read more

Based on my experience, I would STRONGLY URGE anyone who is thinking about working with Affordable Remodeling or Affordable Handyman to reconsider. I am not one to only write negative complaints, but feel compelled to share my experience so that others do not have to suffer. My husband and I engaged the company remodel our kitchen, family room and enclose a porch. The first red flag occurred immediately after the first check was written. I was notified by the owner that he was experiencing "issues" with his business bank account and therefore we needed to write him a personal check. Miraculously, both checks managed to clear before we could stop payment. We should have walked away immediately, but were eager to get the project moving for a variety of reasons; we looked the other way because the owner seemed like a nice, church going guy. Shame on us... The rest of the project was a total nightmare. Our hard-earned money was completely mismanaged. The hodgepodge of "paperwork" (some invoices, some quotes, some unidentified receipts, some vague receipts from his own company) do not add up. We asked numerous times for final invoices and are still waiting; we even received paperwork for one of his other projects. Of course, we are now discovering that some of the subcontractors we thought were paid in full, were not. We were told the owner had worked with many of his subcontractors for years. We later came to find out that he met the project carpenter just a few days prior at a paint store and that the electrician had never worked with him. In our opinion, the quality of the work is poor at best. The new floors do not come close to matching the old floors, the windows and sliding door are uneven, just to name a few of the issues. Essentially, my husband and I were the "project managers," as the owner provided minimal project oversight and was what we felt, rarely onsite. If you value honesty, your money and quality workmanship, look elsewhere. read more

I had these guys replace some soffits on my home. Six months later, the wood was buckling, paint was peeling and it became clear they had done a shoddy job. The work was guaranteed for a year, so I emailed photos showing how crappy the work was, and asked to have it fixed. No response. After numerous emails and phone calls from both my wife and I, still no response. They literally will not even answer the phone. DO NOT USE AFFORDABLE REMODELING. They are a joke. I've already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Considering legal action. read more

Please read and do not hire this company!!! I know this is a long review. I waited around 6 months before writing this review in hopes that the owner/contractor would do the right thing. Sadly that has not happened. We hired AR to renovate one full bath and one half bath in our home. The owner, Hunt, was extremely responsive, and borderline aggressive, when going through the pricing process. Ultimately we chose this company due to their fair pricing alongside good reviews. The renovation process was pretty smooth overall. The crews were respectful and communicative. And in the end we were initially very happy with the end product. However during the construction process there were a number of red flags that gave us pause and concern (turns out we were right to be concerned): 1. We found out in the middle of the renovation that the crew wasn't actually employed by Affordable Remodeling - they worked for a different company and did work for AR on the side sometimes... 2. Hunt only wanted to be paid through Zelle and would become angry when payment did not hit his bank account immediately even though we explained to him that our bank required a holding period of three days before releasing Zelle payments of a certain size. 3. He would randomly ask for "draw payments" without any sort of formal invoice or explanation as to why he needed them. 4. He only wanted to text 5. He added on numerous charges at the end for stuff that should have been either included in the initial bid or cheaper than what was initially quoted. There were other flags, but those were some big ones. But as I stated, overall the process was smooth enough and we were happy with the end product. However only 3 months later we started to have issues. Grout cracking in both bathrooms, leaks from the tub and toilet, bubbling paint on the ceiling. We contacted Hunt as everything should have been under warranty for a year per the contract we signed. No response. We've contacted him by email, text, phone calls, nothing. We had a lawyer contact him. Nothing. At one point his website had been taken down, though it seems to be back up now. He has refused to acknowledge us and the problems in his work. We have had to spend large chunks of money to fix these issues and continue to find things wrong. We thought about going to small claims court, however the amount of time, effort, and money it would take probably wouldn't be worth it. Especially because there is no guarantee we would get reimbursed from AR. So I write this review instead in hopes that it will prevent at least one person from ending up in our same situation. read more

Website says free estimates, Hunt charged $200 for an estimate claiming claim it's "refunded" if you choose them; it's purely an add-on to bilk you for more money. He doesn't clearly itemize estimates, leaves tasks off then keeps driving the price up and up. Communicates in brief, unclear text messages. Hires all subcontractors to do the work. Has them purchase all the materials on his account and then sells them back to you at cost PLUS a 25% markup. The final invoice contained a $100 "final cleanup" fee that was not specified in the original estimate. Although the finished work was good, I would never use him again nor do I recommend anyone else use this company. He's pretty much unethical - stay away. read more
