The remodel included a heated floor system, that all documentation said was to be connected to 120 volt circuit. Unfortunately, their electrical team installed it on a 220 volt circuit. We didn't find this out until a few years later when the thermostat failed, and a manufacturers rep diagnosed the problem. Fortunately only the thermostat failed although according to the manufacturer the floor elements could have also failed do to the over voltage situation. When DB Atlanta was first notified they indicated they would be willing to work with us to correct the problem, but eventually refused to return our phone calls, refused to answer a complaint filed with the BBB, and refused to respond to a letter from our attorney. We have more projects in future but would never again use DB Atlanta, nor could we recommend them.

One of my final projects was to replace my unsightly hardwood and tile floors with LVP. I got several quotes from small and large companies; some who made the job seem like it would be impossible because my house was old and had its issues. Every company that came, pointed out a slant in the floor, a dent, or patch of missing hardwood- all of which would increase the cost of the final project. Some companies also required me to hire someone else to move all the furniture out of my home first. When Alex from Oakerds came out he did a thorough inspection of the job and gave me a price that was lower than most other companies. I was shocked at how smooth the estimate went. He quickly problem-solved each of the problem areas in my home and didn't make a big deal about how each issue would increase the price. He simply gave me a fair quote and explained my options. The most surprising part is that he encouraged me to check out offers from other companies and let him know how Oakerds could "earn my business!" This was a stark difference from the other companies who tried to pressure me into making a decision on the spot. Oakerds scheduled me quickly after I made a decision and my floors were done within a day. I was pleasantly surprised by how seamless the process was. They figured out how to move my furniture around while doing the floors, which saved me the effort of clearing out my house. Remodel group has caused so much damage to my home, they have flooded my house, not once, not twice, not three times, but four times. they have never kept a schedule they have given me and the owners are some of the least responsive and unprofessional people i have ever met. We are now almost two years into a project they thought would take 6 months. Their contract stated they would leave the site clean everyday, they have cleaned it maybe twice in the past year. They left nails in my neighbors driveway and broke my other neighbors mailbox and it took months for them to make it right. They had a habit of leaving human waste in my toilet and not flushing it. they built a floor through a window and left a chimney to nowhere on the side of my house and then said "only your neighbor will see it". The plans called for an request for information if design conflicted and they never once did that and did not even know what an RFI is. They lie on their invoices and double charged me for things and cannot explain simple receipts. They tried charging me $2600 to hang two doors so you have to watch every single invoice they send or you will lose so much money. They had me paying receipts that werent even mine and charged me multiple times for things I had already paid for. Hiring them has truly been the biggest regret of my life. They are still fixing their mistakes and cannot give me an end date. The owners refuse to meet me at my home and have seemingly checked out and the subs do not know what is happening. They put the inside of my home on their instagram account and i asked them to remove it and they refused and then they blocked me. They seemed like a good option for a bit more affordability, so I figured I'd try them. You get what you pay for. What a mistake. This is the experience I had. We started out totally normal. Their crew of two guys came out on the first day to tape everything off in the kitchen. Totally fine. Only one guy comes the next day so the other can get a deck done on another house. I guess that's how they can keep prices lower. There's a few different things that happened at this phase and we gave them a lot of grace throughout all of it, but the short version is the crew was not up to the task of properly painting cabinets. I did find out later from the owner that he's worked with this guy before for many outdoor jobs and for whatever reason he just expected him to be able to do cabinet work, so that tells you a lot. This was really frustrating and a waste of 2 days of work, but this was clearly just a contractor who didn't know how to paint cabinets. As long as they brought out their A-Team to fix this up, it would've been fine. Their A-Team was able to come out two days later and I did a walk-through with them in the morning. This seemed more like what I was used to and they seemed like a solid crew. I went on a walk and come home to find out that the owner had called them and said that he would not pay the agreed-upon rate and that the crew is leaving. A completely understandable reaction. It took the owner 40 minutes to reach out to me and try and figure out next steps. I was immediately told multiple times that this is a listen conversation, not a talk conversation, which quickly devolved into him saying how much of a champion he's been throughout the entire process and complaining about the labor pool he has to work with. What an absolute mess of a week and headache overall. Don't take the risk with these guys. Use another vendor.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
