We got a couple of estimates and Earl Johnston was in the middle. I liked the warranty that the manufacturer offered and having used them in the past made it an easy decision. They have a pamphlet you can look at to select the color of shingles that you would like, in addition to giving you some addresses where they've installed the color so that you can see the color on a house to get a better idea of what it would look like. There was a long delay before the new roof was installed, through no fault of Earl Johnston. The delay was with the city approving the permit. Once the permit was approved, everything went quickly and the new roof was installed within the week. They had a demo crew & installation crew who were good about keeping you informed of what they were going to do. They took TONS of pictures during demo showing you how the tar paper was placed and rotten wood that was being replaced. They covered the lawn with some type of covering so that pretty much all of the debris fell on that rather than all over my mother's yard. They even cleaned up after themselves after the job was done! I'm glad that I don't have to worry about my mother having another roof leak and am very happy with the work that was done.

For the last several months the quotes just kept changing; yes granted I requested few modifications but those were not the reason behind the significant quotes price increase. First the price increased significantly for some inexplicable reasons and I accepted that because that was due to some delay from my end due to some unforeseen illness challenges. Then they claimed that they changed their roof installation standard, so the price went up few thousand dollars, then they said that they need to change all the duplex pitched roof decking from T&G to plywood sheetings (because they "believe" that most of their new installations leaks were due to T&G which is non sense, my roof T&G is over 60 years old and still looks like new so maybe their leak issues are due to poor workmanship installation) otherwise they would honor only 2 years warranty instead of 5 years; keep in mind this is for a Golden Pledge system installation which one of the TOP system in the country. I would have understood all the other reasons, but to be rated as an elite company (as they claim to be) but unable to cover your work with your own standard warranty is really concerning. And no sir, contrary to your claim, you are not the only company that offers 5 years warranty. In fact other "elite" companies offers even 7, 10 and 12 years warranty in addition to the golden pledge warranty or at a minimum running concurrently. Then they want a window that has been there forever to be moved and it just keeps coming. The amazing thing is that none of these requirements were in the initial few quotes, and what's more interesting is none of the other "reputable" roofing companies have even mentioned any of those requirements nor increased the price for almost $6000. In fact when I shared this changes and requirements with few other reputable/elite roofing companies, they called them just plain BS (please forgive my French). I hope the owner accepts this review as a positive and constructive feedback, and there is no reason to reply just to debate or argue the feed back or try to prove me wrong because I have all the emails and communications and I will be glad to share; instead he should use all that energy reviewing their contractual and assessment processes.
