I was informed that because I am not considered an "established patient," I am unable to schedule Friday appointments, which I'm off Fri/ Sat. I was also told that since I haven't been going there over two years, I cannot be accommodated for a same-day sick visit. While I understand office policies, the way this was communicated felt unhelpful and discouraging. The front desk experience makes it difficult to continue care here. I had to go to an urgent care instead, so I also made an appointment for a primary at the new place since even tho it was my first time there, I do not have to be established to be seen right away.

I never got to see the doctor in spite of being in the waiting room in plenty of time. A few weeks later I get a bill for a no show. I sent them $15. Now four months later I get a call from a debt collection agency for an escalated amount. No one at Family Medical Spzecialists cares about my knee. Dr Nimrod obviously has forgotten the Hippocric. I had to have a procedure to burn off the cells and was left for over an hour in the room waiting. then after the procedure I was not given pads or anything even tho I was bleeding. now I have to do a follow up appointment tomorrow, I have a question and no one will answer the phone. this is not how you treat people.

I didn't realize that PCP was the one who would be discussing birth control and other post natal issues. After that the next excuse I was given was that the doctor really just deals with menopausal women. So why wasn't I told this when I made my appointment. Disappointed and Dismissed - A Cautionary Tale About Family Medical Specialists…read more Nobody in the medical industry seems to care that my knee hurts. After being brushed off by a previous doctor who chalked my pain up to vague "inflammation," I turned to Family Medical Specialists in Plant City, hoping for better care. What I got instead was a frustrating and disheartening experience. A day before my appointment, a staff member called and asked me to contact United Health to designate Dr. Gimness as my primary care physician. I followed instructions and made the necessary call. But when I showed up for my appointment, the front desk refused to let me see the doctor--because, according to their system, United Health hadn't processed the change yet. Despite my obvious knee pain and visible frustration, the receptionist was indifferent. I was turned away. I left, disheartened and still in pain. A week later, I received a bill for a "No Show"--even though I had been sitting in their waiting room on time, ready for care. I immediately contacted both United Health and Dr. Gimness's office. To their credit, United Health attempted to resolve the error. But the staff at Family Medical Specialists showed no interest in correcting it, and to this day I've received no outreach or apology from Dr. Gimness himself. Instead, I continue to receive duplicate bills for an appointment their own staff denied me from attending. If this is how Family Medical Specialists handles a simple scheduling error, I shudder to think how they'd handle something serious--like an amputation. If you're looking for care that's responsive, compassionate, and competent, I suggest you look elsewhere. My knees still hurt--and nobody at Family Medical Specialists seems to care.
