    Tiramisu

Short wait- we just happened to stumble across this hidden gem. It was very busy. Accommodating service. Quick for how busy it was. Italian salad 9/10- lots of textures, fresh vegetables, needed more seasoning but good with salt and pepper. Love the use of mozzarella di buffalo. Pasta carbonara 8/10 - a little greasy but great flavor. Garlic bread 10/10. Tiramisu 7/10- subtle, but rich creamy flavor. Portion was a little small for the price, but the perfect size for after a large meal. Be sure to enjoy it with Prosecco. Great for special occasions or date night.

We ended up here as the last resort since the restaurant we planned on going was booked for hours and this seemed like one of the few decent alternatives in the area. We got seated at a table quickly but the service was S-L-O-W after that. It took at least a good 10 minutes before they came to take our order. If we had had better restaurant options as late in the evening as it was, we would probably gone elsewhere. Fortunately the quality of their food more than made up for the slow service. We just started our with garlic bread as the appetizer. It was nicely toasted and had a generous spread of garlic butter and it had very good flavor. I wasn't sure whether to go with the lamb or reindeer, the waitress recommended the reindeer. She didn't ask how I wanted it prepared but it was cooked perfectly somewhere around medium. It was served with some kind of blueberry sauce which rounded out the flavors nicely. It was very delicious! By far one of the best meals I've had in a while. If you can go during off hours or don't mind slow service, their food makes it definitely worth it.

What a nice place to eat lunch or dinner while strolling the streets of Old Town in Gamla Stan. We were drawn into this place by the friendly and welcoming host. We were seated immediately near an open window. Awesome place to sit, people watch while dining. Waiter took our order and food came quickly after that. I ordered meatballs and a side salad, my son had the pizza which he polished off! My hubby ordered the steak with pasta dish. We all were happy with our selections. Everything was yummy!! Would recommend this place while visiting the Old Town in Stockholm.

My first visit to this restaurant I was very disappointing in the service, or lack there of. The greeter at the door was friendly and the only one in the whole place who was. The food was delicious and reasonable for Stockholm. My sister had pizza that had a wonderful thin crust and a generous amount of toppings. I had baked salmon with potatoes. The atmosphere was decorated very old italian with red plaid tablecloths and silver candelabras. Since the food was so good. I took my boyfriend and friend visiting from out if town here for lunch yesterday. She wanted traditional Swedish meatballs with lingonberry sauce, and she claims it was perfection! I had the cod with lobster and saffron sauce. I also think it was perfect! It was such a wonderful meal for everyone. The best part, the bill was not even so bad. Maybe I caught the staff on a rough day the first time. Yesterday our waiter was friendly, helpful and fast.

Well, it is OK for a quick dinner if you don't want anything fancy. Greeter at the door was very friendly, but I must agree with writer who was disappointed at first visit. Meaning (lack of) service. We didn't have to wait for the pizzas but staff wasn't very attentive. My main problem is that they charge you SEK 55 (!!! Yep !!!) for a pitcher of fizzy tap water. You heard me, tap wayer. On the menu they make it sound like it is bottled but take it from me it is nothing but plain "Soda Stream water" made by themselves just before serving... I have no problems with tap water, I drink it all the time and prefer it to bottled, but not at a price close to bottled water at a Michelin-restaurant. I could go here again, for as I said easy dinner, but next time I'll choose something else to drink. They accept AMEX.

4 Stars is actually very generous rating but I think Agaton sort of deserves it. Lol Unfortunately we had the best Swedish Meatballs our first night in Stockholm. This one was ok. Nothing to rave about but the service was excellent. Very friendly and very attentive. 2 of us ordered Swedish meatballs with pasta, one lasagna and one other pasta dish. We all "liked" our dishes but like I said, the service was excellent and very friendly.

We went there on Sunday at 8:00pm , busy but easily find table. Friendly staff. Gave us complementary bread with mozarella caprese starter. It took long time till they serve the food . We order VG Pizza & Margherita so delicious not v crispy nor thick. We order special vg Pasta made for us, it was mouth watering. Dinner for 3 was 740 KR Free wifi available

I liked the atmosphere, definitely Northern European. Friendly service and people. Good menu, decent wine and beer list. The Swedish meatballs caught our attention from outside and they were very, very good. Also had the "Nordica" pizza with reindeer and arugula. Very nice. Maybe a little bit pricey for what it was, but still very pleased. I'd recommend.

Great place! In the heart of gamla stan but not a tourist trap. Superb Italian/local food. Great carpaccio, excellent carbonara, and nice reindeer with salsify and beets. Highly recommend !

Swedish Meatballs- not on menu- you have to ask!

Ask for the Swedish meatballs meal; not on the menu. Not a "diet" meal, but yummy!!! We were not expecting much given it seemed very touristy; we were just hungry, but it was a pleasant surprise. Good experience!

Pasta Agaton was perfect. The pasta with salmon was a bit rich which made the dish overpowering.

Contrary to other reviews, this is the most notorious tourist trap in town and best avoided.

I decided to go here for lunch based on my Yelp search. We came in a little before they opened and…read moresat outside. There were two other families waiting already. Once they were open, it took a long time between us being given menus to finally getting our food- 50 minutes. They should've given us our side while we were waiting for the board. We ordered a side of salami and Swedish cheese and the hairy pig board. I enjoyed the side, but the board not so much. The board consisted of wild boar sausage with broche bun, wild boar taco, peppercorn fries, and wild boar lasagna. The board was quite heavy and salty. I didn't have enough stomach space to even try the taco. I did enjoy the fries, but it's not enough for me to want to return.

This place is tucked below street level and is very intimate and downright cozy with its low beam wood ceiling, wood tables in every cranny it can fit to accommodate guests, and a tiny little bar. You can find this place outside by the wooden sign with the boar on it, then simply peer down into the low window and if you see a hairy pig nomming on a sausage, congratulations! You're in the right place. We stopped in not long before closing time and that was probably the only reason we were able to get a much coveted table. The barkeep was nice and let us put in a quick order while also getting us drinks. Unfortunately for me, there were not very many gluten free tapa options on the menu, but there were a few naturally gf. The salami and sausages were thought to have gluten so I went with the smoked shell on shrimp, a cheese dip, and some salad with olives. I wasn't crazy about the smoked shrimp but the olives and cheese were good. The husband enjoyed a sausage in bun which he said was great. Overall we liked the vibe and I think if you can eat the locally sourced meats like my husband it's probably a pretty solid place. If you're gf or allergy you'll probably still be hungry at the end of the meal like I was.

I had to come to Stockholm for work and I have gone to several restaurants during my stay. Among the restaurants, there were a couple of Italian restaurants. Why Italian, because my done lives Italian. On our last night while walking the town, we noticed Sally's. The ambiance was quaint and lovely. A gentleman, Mark or Market greeted us. Being difficult customers we tried several wines to finally settled on one. But, Mark had no problem with it. Finally we had a pizza to start with. Please let it be known that one of my nine restaurants served pizza. This pizza was better than mine. The chicken pesto was to die for and the chicken Cesar and chicken added to pasta with red sauce were out of this world. We just came to Sweden from Rome, Italy. Thus restaurant was better than any in Italy snd the best Italian food I have ever had. Beverly Hills should bow to Sally's.

Across my travels, I've regularly been impressed with Vapiano across Europe especially in Germany…read moreand the Netherlands, and I hoped it could continue today with my trip to Stockholm however their branch located next to Gamla Stan metro station. The menu like most of Europe has gluten-free pizza and pasta and a better selection of risotto - sadly the Tonno which has been my favourite pizza at Vapiano for a while now has been discontinued as they try to promote shrimp/scampi over tuna with various new pizza. pasta and risotto dishes. Inside, the store seemed pretty nice, clean and was pretty much a typical Vapiano - the staff spoke basic English, communicating wasn't difficult but being in a foreign country this is typical. I ordered the scampi risotto - For 148 SEK which is already pretty pricey, the portion size was ridiculous, unlike most risottos I've had from Vapiano from the past, this didn't fill the bowl and looked a little messy. The dish from appearance to taste just seemed lazy, the spring onions had been thrown on top cold (perhaps they forgot), meanwhile the tomato sauce the risotto was in had no positive impact on the dish, with the rice and carrots really hard - the same could even be said about the shrimp which I presume they used instead of traditional scampi - another big letdown. After complaining - they knocked the dish off my bill but still made me pay for my drink, considering I probably had one or two mouthfuls of my iced tea by the time I sent my food back and I'd have to go into another restauraunt and buy another drink, I don't feel still paying full price for my drink is right - obviously it's a good iced tea I'm willing to pay for it but I'd have much rather them waived by bill as a whole than gave me a voucher for a coffee next time I come in - which is around about the same price anyway so makes no sense, especially considering I have no intention to return to any branch of Vapiano in Sweden after two different bad experiences today. I was really looking forward to checking out Vapiano again - my expectations were not only far from met but my expectations were shattered which was a real shame. 1*

Vapiano is a chain, which means that this location really shouldn't be that unique. And yet it has somehow become iconic for me. It has carved out a niche. It's a landmark - quite literally. I frequently meet friends "by Vapiano", even if that's not where we are eating. Of course, we eat quite a lot at Vapiano, too! On a chill autumn evening there's nothing like strolling down Götgatan in the sunset, crossing the bridge to Gamla Stan, and ordering three freshly-made pizzas to share. Though I usually opt for the pasta. There are so many options! You can so simple and classic, with to-die-for pesto or simple tomato sauce, or something exotic and new like chicken pasta with ginger, mint, and chili...mmm! I've never been disappointed here. The food is made right in front of you, and you can choose your shape of pasta and everything. Even though it's always pretty crowded, there's lots of seating so I've never had trouble finding a place. There's not too much interaction with the staff but they have always seemed friendly enough. I've gone to Vapiano for birthdays, for casual lunches, and for spontaneous dinners. It's not super fancy, but it's much better than fast food - it's good for everything! If you want tasty fresh Italian food that won't break the bank, and a place where you can carry on a conversation with friends at normal speaking levels as you breath in delicious herby-air, this is it.
