Was out looking for a decent place for Italian food and Paganini came up on my search. I would highly suggest making reservations here, as it didn't seem like there was a lot of availability for walk-ins. This was a great place for some traditional Italian, something I did not expect to find in Stockholm. We were greeted warmly and given some great recommendations on the menu. We went a bit whole hog here and had caprese and arancini for appetizers, different entrées, and Panna cotta for dessert. I couldn't help myself and also got an after-dinner cocktail. Ristorante Paganini is an outstanding restaurant for a very good Italian meal. The host and servers were very friendly and helpful in accommodating our likes and dislikes. My husband had lasagne and I had a ragu beef flat noodle dish. Both were superb! Bread and salads are included, as well as post-meal Swedish coffee and apple pie. There are many other choices on the menu, including a lovely sounding pasta de mare and risotto, as well as starters and desserts. Fried artichokes - delicious! Fettuccini Paganini - yummy! Spaghetti Bolognese - so tasty! Romeo did some magic to get us a table even without reservations as the place was packed. Paganini is an Italian restaurant located on a very popular block in the historic part of Stockholm. Despite being busy, the host accommodated my party of two. We ordered the equivalent of a sampler platter which came with delicious fried artichokes, bruschetta and beef. The artichokes was the winner of the sampler. For my main dish, I had the most amazing spaghetti carbonara. Paganini makes their own pasta and it is delicious. Love it! The staff members are friendly. Fantastic place. Went here on a whim for lunch after googling for good Italian in Gamla Stan, and it was exactly as everyone else said! Service was great, the waiter wasn't pushy or insistent on us ordering more wine, and his recommendation for something to pair with our meal was spot on. Looking over the counter, they seemed to have a great selection of alcohol, and even thought we're more familiar with French wines and not Italian, the waiter was kind enough to recommend a good pairing without being judgmental. My wife had the carbonara while I had the risotto Al fungi, both of which were delicious. The saltiness of the meat in the carbonara was fantastic, and the risotto had a really rich flavor that I felt like I could eat forever thanks to all that decadent cheese! We were sorely disappointed that we were too full for dessert, so we'll definitely have to be back. It was a warm day, but the fresh air coming in through the massive window was fantastic, and it didn't feel stuffy or weird like some of the other restaurants in Gamla Stan. The prices weren't bad either, especially for a touristy area in Stockholm. Overall, an absolute 10/10! read more

We ate here twice on our visit and were very happy with our food. The first time we did take away and eventhough the food was cold and not at the right temperature back at our hotel, it was still delicious. It was so good we wanted to visit again a couple days later and eat in. We loved the ragu and the garlic bread that came at the beginning of the meal. Went to Paganini for dinner with the family. I thought the food was outstanding. My family ranger from good to mediocre on their opinions. If you like a sweet green salad, the house salad was spectacular. I had some of the fettuccini Al paganini and also really enjoyed it. Very rich, stroganoff reminiscent. My next favorite that I had was the Ravioli tartufto. Also good. The sauce is really very buttery. I would have liked more cream in the sauce, but if you like butter go for it. We were in Gamla Stan and looking for some snackas while checking out the adorable streets and shops. The menu in the window caught our attention and after comparing to several other places nearby, we decided we couldn't resist. We popped in during a very busy lunch hour and were greeted as soon as we arrived and they managed to find us a picture perfect table right next to the window. The restaurant is small but cozy with adorable red and white tablecloths and beautiful ornate ceilings. Our server was friendly, welcoming, and best of all..knowledgeable about gluten free options. We started with the salad bar. I did have limited options but was still able to enjoy a nice salad with olive oil and balsamic as a dressing. They had gf pasta and I was excited to indulge. I ordered the seafood pasta with gf penne. The seafood was nice but the pasta was a little overcooked and fell apart. The husband is absolutely a schnitzel fiend. When he saw that they were offering it on the menu, there was really no question as to where we were going to eat. He very much enjoyed it and said it was well prepared with a nice outer crisp. He also enjoyed the side of parmesan potatoes as well. The overall lunch experience was good and we really enjoyed getting to watch the bustling Gamla Stan cobblestone streets. This place exceeded expectations. It's right in the middle of the heart of touristy Gamla Stan. but it was previously rated well on Yelp. The interior is warm & welcoming, like you've just walked in to your favorite neighborhood restaurant. And the fantastic staff greets you as if you are a regular. We had the BRUSCHETTA CAPRESE - different from what we're used to, but very good. We then shared PAPPARDELLE AL RAGÚ - fantastic! (I'm drooling just thinking about it.) The kitchen kindly split the dish for us. We also shared a mushroom pizza on sour dough crust. It was just such a great meal to end our stay in Stockholm. read more

He's kind of anal when it comes to having things I order and this was just too much work for him. Presentation is nice but be prepared to work! Also, not very filling so must order main dish to have an adequate meal. Just ok. He said. Reindeer. Amazingly and surprisingly good! Like a filet mignon cut of meat. Portion is very small so you will need to order add ons like potatoes and veggies. Extra charge? Not sure but I'm guessing yes. Chicken stuffed in shells with parmesan cheese sauce. My partner and I were the first in the restaurant amongst another group of asian that went in with us. Not only we got served last. We seen people come and go with immediate service. The table next to us got their appetizer with in 10mins of ordering. While it took 30mins for ours. My spaghetti dish only came with a fork no spoon while the table next to us ordered the same thing got one. Ordered dessert, 20 mins later a waiter comes and ask if we want dessert. Back to the other group of asian they were served just as long as us. All in all we spent a total of 2-3 hours just waiting. I am not sure if it was low key racism but 11/10 I would not recommend if your a POC. read more

Then my wife had a daily special for 100SEK which was a bargain, and fantastic "entrecote" with mushroom risotto and glazed red beets. Red vine and Skåne Akvavit. I had fabulous moose meatballs, chanterelle gravy and real mashed potatoes. Also had custom setup pickled herring and two small boiled potatoes, with a Skåne Akvavit snaps as appetizer. Beer to the main course. Black coffee at the end. Atmosphere is very cozy, and very busy at lunchtime. Cute place in Old Town! Open windows in the summertime and the throng of people dining inside convinced us to give it a try. Their pastas seemed affordable and quite moderate for Stockholm (150-200 SEK). They also had some Nordic specialties in the 230-300 SEK range. The bruschetta at 110 SEK was super fresh and delicious, but it was one medium size piece of bread, so, rather small. I enjoyed the perch from Lake Malaren, cooked in a fragrant wine and tomato sauce (270 SEK). I tried my friend's reindeer steak and it was perfectly tender and well-seasoned. All in all, it was a really nice restaurant I would be happy to go back to... not that Stockholm is lacking at all in the food scene! Buono appetito! read more

Saw this place during the day when we walking in Gamla Stan and we easily agreed on going there for dinner later that evening since it looked so intimate and cosy. Had a warm welcoming and started with a glass of prosecco while we looked at the menu. I decided on the risotto with mushrooms and the girls choose a pasta dish with chicken and a pasta dish with seafood.... And all three of us was satisfied - both with portionsize and taste. Chose a delicate white wine to share. The staff was so polite, kind and smiling during the whole evening - definitely a huge plus. The restaurant was decorated very well and it had that comfi-feeling. Large serrano hams hanging from the ceiling, nice paintings, flowers and just and overall "aaah-feeling". Gamla Stan is a bit pricey but Paganini actually wasn't that bad. 1300 SEK for three persons including drinks and a bottle of wine. I'm recommending this place without any hesitation! read more

We had strolled around Gamla Stan and it kept getting snowier and colder. At the end (or I suppose the start depending on your direction) of the super tourist trap avenue in Gamla Stan is this place with its red and white tablecloths and welcoming staff. This is NOT a tourist trap restaurant it is absolutely a stand on its own great place to eat! The staff is great and speaks a multitude of languages. They are incredibly knowledgeable about their food as well as their extensive and well curated wine list. During the lunch time you get a pasta dish together with a small salad buffet included. I went with the Rigatoni ala Norma and it was everything I needed it to be. The pasta was the most proper al dente I have had at a casual restaurant just perfectly lightly tossed with delicious small pieces of fried eggplant and cherry tomatoes. Such a simple delight! Matched this with a glass of incredibly affordable Nebbiolo/ Shiraz blend while the snow fell just outside our window - a delight! And for under 400SEK?! Tremendous. Really I don't think you can go wrong with this spot and I will definitely return. read more

We only had the pizzas and basic pastas which were good but not great. It looked like the seafood dishes were their specialties. The wine list is very good, and the glasses by the bottle were solid Italian wines rather than typical plonk. The service was friendly and very attentive.
