When my daughter isn't feeling too well, I call and get an appointment within the same day. They care for all of their patients and do it with a smile. Rarely do I leave a 1 rating. We went to the Chandler location for our sons 10 month old well visit. First off, the waiting room is completely jammed pack, no room to even sit. Secondly, the actual exam rooms are completely bare and not clean looking. Next, we received medical advice that was completely opposite from any other doctor and quite alarming. Everything I look up says the opposite. And today I called to schedule a visit up north to see if this location is any better and because my son had a fever of 104 and some faster breathing and I asked if I should bring him in, go to ER or monitor. Their phones have no number to press for someone needing to talk with a medical assistant to figure out what to do. I asked for a call back, and was told no one was messaging back and maybe they would in the next hour... well I never got a call. For a 10 month old to have such a bad fever with issues, it was horrible sitting there waiting to see what was recommended. Never got a call back... I was in SHOCK! What good are they? Please don't put your child's medical care in their hands. Also they have a direct line for tongue ties - sounds like they are just trying to make money off of this. That's my opinion of course. I used to think agave was fine. Long wait times and weird sick policy but I tolerated it. I returned yesterday after being told if my son didn't have his check up, we would be dropped as patients and found their new updated vaccine policy. Their new policy states ever patient MUST be vaccinated. This appears to not affect returning patients, however, it clearly states, all patients who are attending a sick apt, must be vaccinated. When I asked my doctor, why they are enforcing this new policy, she stated, "they are not an urgent care and cannot only see sick children" This is a doctors office and they are not interested in treating my sick child?! She also said, Insurance companies are not happy with the amount of unvaccinated kids they have, therefore they are forcing them to do this in order to be part of their group. AKA profit. This is sickening. Parents should have the choice to vaccinate their children and it should be case by case. The lack of individuality and blanket healthcare is corrupt and concerning. We will not be returning and will find a new doctor for our family. How about instead of creating baseless policies, you work on spending time with the parents and kids and informing us of the importance of vaccinating instead of showing them a CDC cliff note and running a fast-pace turnover system. Our medical system is broken and feels like individual healthcare is a thing of the past. read more

Agave has been and will continue to be the Pediatrician for my three children. Their strict vaccination policy is what more doctors need to enforce across the country. I have been to other locations of Agave and this is BY FAR my favorite. The front desk team is welcoming, kind, and positive. It's kind of rare to go into a medical facility like this where the staff is happy to help.. so witnessing that was a great first impression. Special shout out to Carina, Fernanda and Aileen for comforting my daughter and reassuring her that there was nothing to be scared of when we walked in. You can tell they enjoy their job and were meant for customer service. I love that this practice still sees kids who aren't vaccinated. They always get us in and we've had nothing but great experiences.

Agave is one of the worst pediatric practices. LITERALLY THE WORST. Well check visits are less than 5 minutes long. Instead of dialogue with the pediatrician, they just give you all these handouts to read. There's no doctor eye contact, as they are on their computer taking notes the entire time. Physical examination is pretty much nonexistent. His pediatrician actually forgot to order his 1 year old labs. Sick visits are a JOKE and complete waste of money and time. My son was running over a 104 fever every single night starting at 5 pm for 2 weeks. Of course, our sick visits were in the AM. He was not running a fever in the AM. My concerns and worries were not taking seriously because he did not have a fever at the time of visit... even though he had already lost 4 lbs from being sick. No lab work and nothing was ordered... our sick visits were very short... again with no doctor eye contact and minimal physical examination. We switched pediatricians the day of our second sick visit.... Immediately the other pediatrician diagnosed him with a double ear infection and sinus infection. The pediatrician did not know how anyone missed it. They were very concerned for his health as his temp the night before got up to a 105.2. This Practice only cares about $$$. This practice is a complete JOKE. It's very sad. read more

TL:DR - Only here for the specialists. The medical providers themselves are fine. The appointment making process is horrendous, and enough to make me go somewhere else for a PCP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is more a review on the entire medical group, as our experience across locations has been the same. I've tried my best to be patient with this group overall, but they keep disappointing us time after time after time. The only reason we keep coming here is because they have specialists that are just not available elsewhere. Similar to a lot of other people, the medical providers themselves have been fine, it's just the support staff and the process of setting up an appointment is the MOST infuriating. You can't make an appointment at the office, they always say they'll call you. And it's really hit or miss if they call you. I'd say about 2 out of 7 times did they call me. One time I missed, and all the voicemail said was to call the main number back, which just directs you to voicemail where you have to leave your info for them to call you back, which typically doesn't happen. To set up my last appointment, I had to call them literally on 5 different occasions AND sent a request through the website. I got called back twice (one was the one I missed). Then today was the last straw. We had made an appointment at 8am at Deer Valley yesterday. Deer Valley is 30 minutes away, mind you. We get up, go through traffic, get there early, only for them to tell us the doctor is out today and that they "called us" to tell us. Well considering I just made the appointment yesterday, and Agave's track record of making calls, and my own phone's call logs, I find that statement highly improbable. All in all, the hassle of getting in here is not worth it at all, if you're not seeing a specialist, I HIGHLY recommend taking your child elsewhere. read more

Dr Thomas has been our pediatrician since my daughter's first day of life. She sees all my children and is an excellent pediatrician as well as friend and colleague. Today was my daughter's 10 yr old visit so it was kind of like our anniversary. :) Laura was the MA who roomed us. The front office staff and medical assistants are always friendly and pleasant as well. -Mom She is the best doctor I have ever met and I highly recommend her. She always knows what to do and is extremely nice and understanding. In my opinion, she is my favorite doctor (and only). I had 2 new patient appointments. So far, it's been a great experience. Upon first call, someone promptly answers. They're able to book you fairly quickly in the next week or so. When I arrived, I am completely blown away by the decor. Now I know it's about patient care but the details and beauty they invested to make a good experience for children when visiting, has to say something about the providers. After 5 years with Agave, we're finally jumping ship and it's been a long time coming. We were initially referred to Dr. Agarwal when my week-old newborn was diagnosed with a tongue tie. We were scheduled fairly quickly and Dr. A performed a tongue tie revision (and a subsequent upper lip tie revision). We were new parents and, knowing of no better alternative, continued to take our daughter here for immunizations and illnesses. When my daughter turned one, we put her in daycare and she developed frequent ear infections. Over the course of the next YEAR, we brought her in at least six times for ear infections. Every time, the NP would prescribe antibiotics for our infant (even switching up the type of antibiotics because of effectiveness and resistance concerns). As an aside, I've had a few sinus infections in my adult years and getting antibiotics has been more difficult than getting narcotics, yet that was the first and only option given to us at Agave! Finally, just before her second birthday, they referred us to an otolaryngologist (I didn't know this type of doctor existed). The otolaryngologist recommended tubes and said that my daughter's hearing had been severely limited because of the fluid continuously sitting in her ear canal and it was the equivalent of being submerged in water/covering your ears - everything she heard was muffled and distorted. I was also told that ear tube surgery is the most common and uncomplicated medical procedure and that it can be safely performed on children as young as 6 months old. Notably, since getting tubes, she hasn't had another ear infection, but the damage had already been done. For the next year, my daughter was visited by a speech therapist from AZEIP, but to this day, she has a significant speech delay because she missed almost a year of critical language development due to Agave's negligent medical care. What used to be cute mispronunciations are now points of immense frustration and I worry how she will fare in kindergarten and beyond. I unequivocally trusted Agave's medical team, and I hope you don't make the same mistake. Perhaps if Agave referred us to a specialist after the second ear infection instead of the sixth, I'd be writing a different review, and my child would have a different and easier life. read more

It is disappointing because even after we were "dicharged from our practice" (read, purposeful typo, their letter sent to us indicates whoever working at Agave could not spell the word "discharged" correctly), we are on the tail end of trying to tidy things up from a "dicharged" patient standpoint. Our final bill requires a payment that the insurance company has remaining for us. That's fair, that's very typical in American healthcare practices. Except Agave does not allow online payments (see attached photo I took of their site). This is the year 2017, and a modern medical provider can't afford to do a proper basic payment implementation on their website? This is why tech-company funded medical organizations like OneMedical are likely going to disrupt lagging medical organizations like Agave, in the same capacity that Uber disrupted the taxi industry, Google disrupted "free" email and AirBnb disrupted the hospitality industry, all on a massively global scale. So, Agave wants me to just write my credit card number explicitly in plain text and mail it in via snail mail. How is this secure? Does Agave not realize that this payment methodology was made obsolete in the early 2000's? Perhaps Agave's business leadership should start looking into PCI-DSS compliance and mobile/online payment solutions; what Agave has right now to pay medical bills via snail mail is just plain stupid. I genuinely feel sorry for the staff that works at Agave, the ones doing the front line interaction with incoming patients. You could be paid more, given stock, treated better as employees, not have to "bum-rush" from room to room chasing patients and trying to meet unrealistic service level targets. Doctors too, ya'll could just be seeing a max of 14 patients a day with more customer-centric medical organizations that don't just treat the customer well, but staff too. These things, while may not seem to directly impact the customer, ultimately do. When an incoming family with kid(s) is coming in as a prospective patient/client and their experience right from the get go is blasted with medical documentation and videos containing typos, antiquated site design, long wait times, rushed doctors and nurses and admin staff due to over-scheduling, and speaking of scheduling, poor scheduling due to legacy IT infrastructure... Your patients start leaving you. There's plenty medical organizations out there that start with their infrastructure and work upwards, which ultimately translates positively to ensure proper service delivery to their customers/patients/clients. read more

The front desk is extremely rude and unprofessional. After numerous calls and voicemails regarding some questions about my son "over a span of 3 days", I was finally called back by a nurse and her voicemail was "call us back". Today, right at opening; I called to either talk to a doctor or nurse to see if we needed to come in or if they could provide us with some information on what to do with our sons issue over the phone. The front desk told me the nurse left a notation stating "google it".... You're kidding me right? As a first time parent, I feel I should at least be able to talk to my Pediatrician to address questions or concerns I might have. "Google it" is dismissive and shows little to no care for either me or my son. If you're an owner, feel free to listen to the call. It was placed at 8:03am 3/11/20; Bottom line, I called in an hour ago to cancel my sons next appointment as we've decided we can find a better pediatrician and the lady at scheduling said "good luck" and hung up. "Google it", holy moly. Please do something about your staff.... It's insane that people can treat others like garbage and still have a job. read more

Absolutely worst customer service. Upon arrival my wife and i were 15 min late to our appointment . Still managing a new born and a sick 2.5 yro baby. Not only Agave staff lacked the slightest common courtesy to congratulate and welcome the first appointment for our new born with them, but they were inconsiderately rude about copay. I was dumbfunded when twice she mentioned a $30 co pay and we noded as we are filling their paper and feeding our 7 day old baby. She had the audacity to repeat "if dont pay your co pay we cant take you back to see the doctor". My wife had C section and by their policy im supposed to accompany her to carry the baby and the bags. ( im vaccinated ) . they didnt let me in Because she said if my wife was able to pick up the 2 yro old whom his hand got stuck in the glass door crying. Then she can carry her stuff too..this is outragous. Medical peofessional should have outmost courtesy and respect to their patient. Here is a lesson. Maybe ask patient if everything is ok before assuming we are just running late and not respecting your time Secondly be welcoming to patient and maybe learn to go above and beyond . Gave this office 7 months and they've disappointed me over and over again. Final straw: I made an appt for 10am the following day and shortly after speaking with them, they left me a message saying there was a schedule conflict for that time and that they'd like to move it to 11:15am and to call if there were any questions. I have the transcript of the call and at no point did Trina say to call and confirm the reschedule...or that if it didn't work we could stick to 10am. Well, I got the message saying 11:15 so that is when I planned on going. Buuut, they did not actually make the change in their computer system and when I showed up, they tell me I missed the 10am visit. I was following their instructions per voicemail but apparently the original conflict wasn't exactly a conflict at all since they kept me at 10am without telling me. I will admit, I forgot my wallet and was running late to the 11:15 time slot; however, I called to let them know this and they still denied me. The appt was for a weight check as my little girl had been refusing bottles and was slightly dehydrated with a decrease in wet diapers, so it was really important for me as a new mom to have her seen. Again, I'll admit I was running late (what new mom can't relate) but the way they handled their mistake and the entire situation was so unprofessional. Of course I was frustrated bc I was worried about my daughter. But the office manager made it clear we would not be seen and that "they were about to go to lunch" as I stood there crying with my daughter in hand. Really?? That's how you treat new moms? So much for any real concern for our wellbeing. They've got lunch to eat!! Unfortunately this is not the first time they've called to reschedule or cancel an appt of ours. They're central reservations system obviously needs some work. Also, from the very beginning Dr. Jones pushed her agenda for plan of care for my child rather than respecting that thing called, uh, parents choice!! I thought switching to a different provider in the practice would help, but their front office manager ruined it for me altogether. She is sooooo rude!! They are not concerned about the patients (or the patients moms) and we will not be going back!! I will say they're certainly concerned about lunch. read more

Dr. Thomas is the best. She's amazing, and worth the drive from central Phx for us! I love that she's very supportive of my "hippie mama" ways - cloth diapering, EBF, baby led weaning, etc etc. She was our doc at the hospital as well, and I love that my daughter has seen her from day one! We also had my daughter's tongue and lip tie revised by Dr. Agarwal. Love the support this office gives moms for breastfeeding. read more

No parent should have to experience what we did. We discovered our two week old newborn had cystic fibrosis during his newborn screening. The whole experience of finding out this information through agave pediatrics was horrible and traumatic. They called us on Christmas Eve 30 minutes before they were closing and dropped this massive bomb on us that our son may or may not of had cystic fibrosis and didn't even bother to explain what the condition was. They just said " if he's eating and pooping he should be fine." When we arrived for our follow up appointment they kept information from us knowing that he did have cystic fibrosis without the screening at Phoenix Childrens Hospital. When I talk to Phoenix Childrens Hospital they called them the morning of our appointment to confirm that they were going to give us the information which they lied to out face and said that they didn't know. Having a new baby is hard enough but finding out your baby has a life altering chronic illness should be handled with compassion and that's some thing that we didn't receive. I would advise to look elsewhere for a pediatrician because no parent should have to find out hard news like we did. read more

We have been patients for 2 years and are self pay patients and just found out they have been charging us DOUBLE the self-pay rate, because they refuse to put in their notes that we are self-pay. I have confirmed with 4 different employees that we are self-pay, and at this point, they have taken $1000 extra from us. They have continuously taken our money, telling us "we never told them" we were self-pay. I would never recommend coming here, because you will be taken advantage of and ignored as a parent. Horrible experience, lack of professionalism from the manager on duty. Just relocated to Phoenix for work and needed to get our boys a new pediatrician, pulled them out of school and we all 4 went to office for appointment as scheduled. We called prior to set up appointment and advised needs during visit (nothing major meds and 1 of our boys has hearing loss and gets ears checked regularly). All great at check-in, but after that it was pretty bad. I have never been to a doctor's office where I have even seen a "manager", but apparently that is the case with Agave(also, we did not request the manager). We ended up getting the full force of her in front of our 11 year old twin boys over a prescription they need- and the whole reason we scheduled an appointment. No solutions or compassionate care provided at this place. Not recommended for new patients with any prior health concerns- they will not get records from another doctor or give clear information when scheduling the appointment, but they will take the time during your visit while your kids are out of school to go listen to the phone call- for future "training". read more

Dr Argawal is no good at circumcisions and the information provided by his staff is minimal at best. I can echo other reviews about the "doctors" here. The nurse practitioners seem to be more in tune with the patients because they are usually the ones who see them. Dr. Blumenthal and others are very pushy when it comes to their personal beliefs regarding your child. We voiced our concern about flu shots and were pushed aside. What a great experience. I have been bringing my daughter here for over a year. Today my daughter had her one year wellness check up. They got us in early to see the doctor. Dr. Jessica was great. Awesome and pleasant demeanor. Seeing a Doctor can me scary for kids. She was super thorough and nice. My daughter mentioned how much she likes Dr. Jessica. We were in and out in 30 minutes. The front end staff was super attentive and friendly. Handled our insurance stuff in minutes. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend.
