    Kids Kumite Class
    Annabelle S.

My kids were part of Ageless Karate for a little over a year. My oldest started in the kids beginners class and my youngest in the little Ninja's. They both enjoyed the classes and the friends they made. They learned a lot during their time there. My youngest graduated from the little Ninja's and joined the kids beginners class at age 4. Although she is young, she was able to learn her white and red belt katas. And she was also very confident in what she did whether it was kata or kumite. My oldest was able to do a weapons class - bo staff, and take a grappling class as well during his time there. Ageless is a great school if you want your kids in Sports Karate. The Sensei's are kind and the location is convenient because it's just right off the freeway. They have classes 7 days a week. (My kids attended 3-4 times a week.) The thing we disliked about Ageless is the way the Sensei ran his business. Let's just say he's better at teaching than running the business side of his dojo. He's trying to work on that though.

Make sure you get what you are paying for and get a contract...

I was hesitant in writing a negative review, because Joe seemed to be a real nice guy. Unfortunately he is a better teacher than businessman. In Jan we (family of 6) verbally agreed to join his class. He was offering a 2 for 1 special for 1 yr and we would get a free warm up out fit. But he said anything after the 4 person is free, mind you none of this is written we were not give a contract everything was still up in the air. We rush and gave him $200 and then tells us that he would need our account number so that he can take payment every 1st of the month ($300)and then another $499 for gear in 3 months. we said we would be back to discuss who would be signing up. Things didn't add up. 1- there is no morning classes(which is the only reason why I wanted to sign up and he knew that) 2- classes are not unlimited 3- never got outfits 4-sign in tags never worked He seem to preoccupied to chat at the first practice so I let it go and tried to call him before the next practice seemed his phone was disconnected. My kids (i have 4) only went to one practice and 2 wanted out , by the next practice another and the next practice I finally asked him if I could pay him cash that I was not gonna give him my account information. After about 5 mins he told me that for one kid it would go up to $169. If I remember correctly. Remember nothing is written down. Its my fault for giving this dishonest man money thinking he really cared about our family. I didn't mean to ramble I guess what I'm trying to say make sure you get a contract!!!!! And do your research.

It wasn't easy finding a place that tailors to teenagers (youth) since most of the martial arts businesses I've researched had smaller kids or adults. And to find a place that had some female students so that my daughter can easily relate with (girl standpoint). Long story short, the very first day of class, she had a huge meltdown outside of the studio not wanting to go through with it. There were a couple older kids who helped talk to her, calm her down, and pretty much "handheld" her into trying the class. Thankfully she got through it. Big thanks to John, Caesar, Bianca, and Stephanie. You guys are awesome! Fast forward 6 months later, my daughter has made new friends and has gained a lot more confidence. She enjoys coming to class especially when Sensei Dave teaches (the buff one haha). She says he's funny and cool. But actually everyone helps out, which is nice. Tip *** the studio gets extremely crowded once a class has ended. Just wait for a about 5-10 mins after and seats should open up.

So I wanted to find a traditional karate school for my 9 year old son. Who told me he wants to take Karate. Wax on Wax off, Sand the Floor and Paint the Fence is a must. Hahaha Las Vegas Shotokan Karate seems to be the most traditional and been doing it longer than everybody else in Las Vegas. Founder Shihan Osamu Ozawa opened the school in 1981. (He is a True Master and a Legend) in Karate in 1995, Master Ozawa at age 70 turned the school over to James Tawatao, a student of his since 1981. I was very impressed with Sensei James Tawatao Chief Instructors demeanor and professionalism. he really cares about his students and wants them to train hard and do their very best and it shows in his teachings. The other instructors are great and they really take the time and helped my son to learn the moves right. so I think that will further him in his training. the little extra care they take really shows in what he has learned in the short amount of time that he has been in Karate class They have a great start up special $209.00 includes a karate gi and the dojo patch for three months of training. Kids classes are Monday /Thursday /Friday 5:30 to about 6:30 Dont be late. After that it's $255.00 for 3 months which is a pretty good deal and the more family members that join the cheaper it gets. I am very happy my family gets to be a part of this historical Karate dojo. Thank you Sensei James Tawatao for greeting my family with open arms it's an honor to be involved with your school.
