He and his wife never made us feel anything less than equals/friends. I never actually met his wife, but if Josh was unable to get to his phone if we called, she had no problem with us having their house number so she could relay messages for us. Hired them to install a new furnace when an old furnace died…read more Called them Nov14th. Was told it was a simple 2 hour swap out and "not my first rodeo" Made a $1,000 cash deposit on NOV 17th. About three weeks later, on DEC5th, I reached out as no progress had been made, and with 3-4 days of contact eventually got someone here to pull the old furnace, though the tenant did not have a new furnace. Later around DEC 8th reached out to ask for an install date for the new furnace I already paid for half of. From Dec 8th- 19th we have 10 missed appointments. "Tomorrow" "tomorrow" "tomorrow" "hell or high water" "within 24 hours" "within 24 hours or deposit back by end of business day" On DEC 20, showed up with a USED furnace. Not in our contract. DEC 21st, contacted ME to do the roof work and remove the furnace stack. Return my deposit immediately. Nobody hired you to install a used furnace. Shows up when he wants and does what he wants. Promises the world and delivers actual dog shit. $1000 turned into a rusty old furnace and stove pipe that looks like it came out of some hoarders basement, pre rusted. I would not hire him again were he to work for free.

We worked with O'Shea Builders for what would have been several small jobs. However, our primary…read morejob, a waterfall inside our house, turned out to be much more extensive than both we and O'Shea anticipated. Due to upper deck flashing that had been incorrectly installed by the prior owners, water had seeped into the walls and caused extensive damage. Jeff, the O'Shea foreman in charge, a contractor in his own right, and the person who did the vast bulk of the work, was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating of our needs, as well as professional and exacting in the work. He and Warren O'Shea, the owner, offered us several alternatives of varying prices in terms of how to deal with the issues involved, and gave us the pros and cons of each alternative. The damage was addressed extremely competently and thoroughly, and a significant rainfall that occurred within a week of the job being finished showed that our interior waterfall was now gone and that has been the case since the job was finished. The other jobs within the house, cited in our home inspection, were also addressed quickly and resolved beautifully. As a side note, I would like to address hiring contractors generally, having been through seven major jobs through the years. I got what I view as excellent advice from the first two contractors I worked with. The first advice was to be aware that no contractor can see behind walls (our house was almost 100-years old at that time,) and once they break through the walls, they have to deal with what's there - and that means that if, for example, electrical wiring isn't up to code, they are legally required to bring it up to code, and doing so almost always is going to add to the cost of the job. The second piece of advice was that our quote was very specifically based on what we'd told the contractor we wanted/needed and that *ANY* changes would likely result in additional costs, so we have always been extremely careful to know exactly what we wanted beforehand and to never have changed the scope of the job. In conclusion, we were more than satisfied with O'Shea and will certainly call on them for any future work. They are exceptional - as in great - to deal with on all levels.

The work done was good, but his price was so far over what he quoted it made for a very unsatisfied customer. In addition he didn't finish the job when he said he would, which was sometime mid April to early May. He stopped working in early June and as I said before he chose not to complete the job leaving me kind of stranded. My suggestion when working with O'Shea Builders LLC is make him sign a contract where his price is his price, not this contractor mumbo jumbo excuse laden "Not my fault, man".
