SL was a tiny place, but thankfully mostly empty; we plopped ourselves down and ordered some cold beers (pilsner for me, it being a hot afternoon). The vibe wasn't very Irish beyond the decor and dark interior. The bartender was playing some euro pop on the sound system. Snacks were offered - mostly bread rolls, small sandwiches, and cuts off some oblong pizzas. We sampled a few of the latter to go with our beers. (They were OK.) As for the volleyball, the USA got spanked. Thankfully no celebration from the other side; most of the other patrons were either Americans or Brits. And the Italian bartender didn't seem to care. I got the codfish, octopus, squid, and ham cicchettis - all of which were delicious! The codfish was a classic, and a classic done so well. It was so creamy and smooth but flavorful without being too fishy either - loved it! The octopus was served on top of some hummus and was interesting, while the ham one was a classic. The squid was really good too, as it was warm and cooked in a tomato sauce - so flavorful! We really enjoyed sampling a variety of them and I can definitely see the appeal of these in Venice!
