Simple, yet elegant sandwich's, beer, wine and friendly service. You need nothing more for a light meal. Bonus everyone in this little joint other than us were locals. Omg I love this place! It was recommended by a local. I decided to try it because it was only a minute walk from my Airbnb. I got here before they opened at 09:30 and the place filled up before 10. It's a small eatery. I felt claustrophobic. How to order: wait in the line in the middle, get someone's attention at the bar/counter, and pay first. They'll get your order ready while you wait to the side. Most people take the food out but have drinks inside. I had an espresso - yep, no alcohol like the other customers. Honestly, there were people enjoying drinks for breakfast. I also ordered a bunch of their tramezzini (sandwich) to try. My favorite was the manzo peperonata senape (beef with peppers)! Delicious! I came here for the sandwiches. Amazing, friendly service. It's small and there's not a lot of seating. We ate all our food and went back to order seconds! I definitely recommend the sandwiches on the dark bread, not the sandwiches on the little baguettes. Everything is affordable at only about 2-5€ per item. Went today for a quick bite. If you want to be the only tourist in this authentic Venetian sandwich shop come in. Located down a side street Calle delle Rasse is this little non pretentious hole in the wall. It has about eight tables. Come in order your drinks and small tapa sized sandwiches and sit. When you are ready to leave go back up and pay. Location is ideal as it is around the corner from the Doge's Palace and an excellent spot to relax away from the maddening St Marks crowds. The price is reasonable--as it caters to locals--as we spent about 20 euros for 6 finger sandwiches and 2 sodas. read more

When travelling, if you can find a place where the locals dine, then you are likely to get a better meal. But how do you know if a restaurant is filled with locals and not tourists? It's not like locals wear uniforms that tell you they are from there. Unless it's Venice and the locals are gondoliers. We stopped into Birreria Forst for lunch after spying a half-dozen gondoliers at the counter ordering lunch. We figured the gondoliers would know the good places for a quick, yummy, and inexpensive bite to eat. And the gondoliers, whose numbers increased to well over a dozen while we were there, did no fail us. Our sandwiches were quite tasty, and the small establishment had a lively vibe, making for a delightful lunch. We liked it so much, we went out of our way to go back the next day on our way to the train station. read more

This is a great place for a quick bite to eat close to St. Mark's square at lunch or dinner time. The decor is rustic kitsch with large wooden tables. Great spot near San Marco and bridge of sighs, perfect to pop in for a snack or lunch. My hotel was right next to this place when I was visiting last week. My husband and I ate here twice and we had been all over Italy prior to Venice and never did that once. It's great place to get sandwiches or charcuterie and a beer. Just a cute little shop.
