Hi Sushi - I could eat here every day
    Rory F.

Hi Sushi is great. You sit at these low tables in the back on cushions and feel very authentic or take a seat or the bar or overlook the high road. Hi Sushi is a modern restaurant, small and intimate. They do a lunch special every day with a choice of miso soup or green tea followed by the bento box of your choice. The salad dressing (comes on the salad portion of the bento box) is DIVINE! I have my quota of salt for the week in one go, but couldn't care less. The service is okay in here, nothing special. Make sure you are not overcharged beyond the added service charge for your meal. Otherwise, enjoy this jem of a place and do go for the lunch special especially if your a meat eater....save a few bob!

This particular time I had the pleasure of having the waiter Haiya (sorry if the spelling is off) He was excellent at helping me choose the right meals. I started with Duck Gyoza and Fried prawns which are not shown but they were delicious. My almost 2 year old loved them. The I got a main which was the curry seen with fish. Now I must say it wasn't what I was expecting. The menu did say *lighter fare* which I clearly missed. When it came out it was beautiful but I was missing the creaminess sweetness of a full coconut curry. It was a bit more citrusy and sharp. The waiter was so kind he offered to let me get something else and helped me decide. So I ended up with the duck and rice bowl which I loved! I added hoisin sauce and a little soy and it was perfect. At this point I trusted his guidance and decided to continue on for dessert. I was a little nervous of getting a white chocolate ginger cheesecake bc I'm not a huge fan of ginger, but he assured me it wasn't overpowering. Honestly, sooo glad that I chose it. It was absolutely divine. Also I have to mention from the start he directed me to the strawberry matcha latte which was also very good. I normally love Thai tea but they didn't have it and this was a very nice treat for a pregnant mama. I had to come give them a nice review bc I felt very attended to especially by myself with my toddler. We had such a nice time being out and when the food and service is exceptional you have to make sure you let them know. Thank you to Haiya. I'd highly recommend this Wagamama location!

Disappointing experience, good food, terrible service, and zero respect for customers…read more We were given a 1h15m dining window, which we accepted. The ordering was slow, and despite writing our order out in the Notes to avoid any confusion, dishes still arrived wrong. It took a lengthy conversation with our server before she even understood what had been sent out incorrectly -- time we simply didn't have. We raised the issue and noticed them we wouldn't be able to finish in time given their mistakes. Their response? After 1h 15min, staff swooped in to clear plates -- while one of our friends was still eating. And they still charge a service fee for this? The food is the one saving grace, but the management is chaotic and the attitude toward customers is unacceptable.

The hamachi kama was nicely charred and still very juicy on the inside. The skewers (yakitori and beer tongue in the picture) were also very tasty and the meat was very tender. They also had a decent drink menu with several sake options and mixed drinks like Japanese fruit sours. They are reservation only but their online system is simple to navigate. I look forward to visiting this restaurant again to try their other skewers!

We booked the table for 5 people at 12.30pm. The Chinese woman with glasses (I forgot to ask her name) who I assumed was the manager because she was dressed differently, came over to teach us how to order using the QR code. I asked if there was Wi-Fi and if I could get the password. She said, "Yes! But why don't you use your mobile data?" I explained that my number was American and the signal was weak and slow. She then gave me the password, but I couldn't hear her, so I asked her to speak slowly. She rolled her eyes, started to get annoyed, and raised her voice. I told her it was my first time here and why couldn't she be more polite? How was I supposed to know everything? It's not okay to provide service like that. In the end, I didn't order anything, but my friends did because the kids were hungry. I just sat there and waited to go eat somewhere else. I would recommend going to another restaurant. There are plenty of Japanese restaurants in London. There's no need to eat at a place with terrible service, especially with a 10% service charge. Good luck to anyone who is willing to have a new bad experience at this restaurant!

(Seriously, I think it was a money laundering business as they never had any customers, it seemed.) And thus a few days after it opened, we went to try it out...that was quite a while ago and we've been back several times since. However, to be quite honest, Sushi Wa wasn't what I would call one of my instant favourites. My first visit was actually not so much of revelation - I liked the decor, the nice service, but thought the food was only so so. Plus, I thought it was odd that a sushi place would also offer a partially Korean menu, such as bi bim bap. Now Sushi Wa has come to be one of our deafult take-away locations and funnily enough, the bi bim bap has become a favourite of mine. (To be sure, it's not amazing, but quite good.) My partner always orders the Mixed Chirashi and the rolls are generally also of very good quality.
