It allowed me to get an extra hour of a workout in during the week and now I'm hooked! Krav is a real world self-defense that makes me feel strong and prepares me for real life situations. ASD also offers many other classes and so many talented instructors! Coach Shayne has been a big influence on myself and my husband. He continues to help us learn proper fighting techniques. Andrea is an awesome coach who continues to amaze us! Amit, Troy, Chris, Sergey, Marziya, and Jason have all taught me so much in Krav. Ilya's Hyrox and Fighter Flow classes are fun and a great workout! He also has a cook book that explains easy and healthy recipes! Manny's Boot Camp/kickboxing classes are always intense and will leave you sore. James' DEKA class was creative, hard and definitely worth a try! My son has enjoyed the Kids Krav classes....thank you James, Andrea, Anh and Marziya for teaching the big group of kids! I love watching him come home and practice and share what he learned. We often compare what we are all doing in class during the week. I can't forget Neal, the owner! And Carrie at the front desk! They always make us feel welcome and at home! I joined the Locked In For Summer Challenge that they organized at ASD. It has helped me stay focused on my nutrition and fitness goals. And has helped me meet some new friends! Overall, ASD is a super special place. I'm so glad my family found it and I'd recommend it to anyone interested!

What I really liked about this gym was the variety of classes they offer. You can try different types of workouts and figure out what you enjoy without having to commit right away. They also let you borrow gloves and other equipment for free during the trial classes, which I thought was a really nice touch. I ended up trying the HIIT and DEKA classes, which were my favorites, and most of the coaches I had were really great. Unfortunately, my experience with one of the kickboxing classes wasn't as good. I specifically asked multiple times beforehand if it was okay that I was a complete beginner, and I was told that it was totally fine. However, when I showed up, pretty much everyone else already knew what they were doing, so I naturally felt a little intimidated. I also wasn't given much guidance despite being a first-timer. What really bothered me was that the coach called me "silly" when I wasn't able to follow the instructions. I understand that a fast-paced class can be challenging for beginners, but I didn't think making fun of someone who was trying something for the first time was appropriate, and it definitely put a damper on the experience. One other thing I wish they had was a proper locker room or changing area. They have gender-neutral bathrooms, but they didn't feel clean or comfortable enough to change clothes in, especially if you're coming straight from work. I really liked the variety of classes and the generous trial period, and most of my experiences with the coaches were positive. I just wish the beginner experience was a little more welcoming and that they had a better space for changing.

Needless to say, they have been very happy with their decisions since. They enjoy the strict and structured learning environment that sets high expectations for them to achieve. Respect emanates in this environment as everyone greets one another with a customary bow of acknowledgment. While the masters are firm, they are also very supportive and fun. My girls start each class with seriousness but leave with light hearted smiles. It's been over a year now and my once weak daughters have developed not only tight muscles but also a strong sense of self confidence; thanks to the rigor of each lesson. Seeing my fragile girls accomplishing challenging, powerful moves makes me cringe but also feel impressed. Thank you to the passionate and professional masters at Choi's for instilling the love for martial arts in my girls. It is now an element of their identity. Unlike many other martial art schools, I like the authentic feel of Choi's dojang. They are not commercialized. They don't try to sell you anything or talk you into signing long term contracts to trap you in. Some other places I've encountered, they pressure you with gimmicks like a limited time promotion or try to sell you merchandise. There are no salesman here, just genuine martial artists who wants to share their expertise with those whom are interested in practicing this form. I would definitely recommend Choi's Tae Kwon Do to anyone that is looking for a quality and valuable enrichment.

I wasn't very happy about it but I think the studio is trying their best. Maybe they could not find enough instructors that fit their criteria. The main instructor does not have the most clear speaking and his voice is low. The result is that I have to pay close attention to understand his instructions. Not how the little ones can follow up. I see my son usually just follows what other kids are doing instead of hearing and responding to the instructions. These are red flags. Now I think of it, I should have talked to the studio about these concerns. But I did not. What was really upsetting and surprising to me is that one day the main instructor talked to me about my son's inattention and disruptive behaviors and stated that if he doesn't improve, they will remove him from the class. I was a bit shocked. My son is like most 6 years old active boy, who is not best at following the instructions in a big class. However, this is their first attempt to "help" him. Yet, it came with a warning/threat, if he doesn't improve, he will be removed from the class. I can think of several ways to support him. 1. We could position him in the first of three rows of students, making sure he could hear clearly and get frequent eye contact from the instructor to help him to stay focused. 2. We could reduce the class size or increase the green belt helpers who can assist in helping the kids to learn the moves and stay focused. 3. The studio could at least talk to parents about how to support the student ONCE before threatening that they are going to remove him from the class. I'm really disappointed. My son loves martial arts and wants to learn. He does struggle with attention, like a lot of 6 years old. But I think he deserves a little more support than what the studio is providing. This feedback is directed toward the silver creek campus. Not sure how other campuses are doing. I'm going to try to talk to the instructor and see if it will help to solve the problem. I will come back to edit my review if the result restores my confidence in this place.
