First, the student and instructor ratio is not good. About 12-15 students age from 6-8 and one instructor and another to help correct the positions as the class continues. I wasn't very happy about it but I think the studio is trying their best. Maybe they could not find enough instructors that fit their criteria. The main instructor does not have the most clear speaking and his voice is low. The result is that I have to pay close attention to understand his instructions. Not how the little ones can follow up. I see my son usually just follows what other kids are doing instead of hearing and responding to the instructions. These are red flags. Now I think of it, I should have talked to the studio about these concerns. But I did not. What was really upsetting and surprising to me is that one day the main instructor talked to me about my son's inattention and disruptive behaviors and stated that if he doesn't improve, they will remove him from the class. I was a bit shocked. My son is like most 6 years old active boy, who is not best at following the instructions in a big class. However, this is their first attempt to "help" him. Yet, it came with a warning/threat, if he doesn't improve, he will be removed from the class. I can think of several ways to support him. 1. We could position him in the first of three rows of students, making sure he could hear clearly and get frequent eye contact from the instructor to help him to stay focused. 2. We could reduce the class size or increase the green belt helpers who can assist in helping the kids to learn the moves and stay focused. 3. The studio could at least talk to parents about how to support the student ONCE before threatening that they are going to remove him from the class. I'm really disappointed. My son loves martial arts and wants to learn. He does struggle with attention, like a lot of 6 years old. But I think he deserves a little more support than what the studio is providing. This feedback is directed toward the silver creek campus. Not sure how other campuses are doing. I'm going to try to talk to the instructor and see if it will help to solve the problem. I will come back to edit my review if the result restores my confidence in this place. read more

The studio used to be great 3 years ago. But things are not up to par since 2017. 1. The head master and all experienced instructors of the silver creek branch left and classes are now being taught by teenagers and college students who barely knew what they are doing...what do you think your kids will learn? 2. Keep adding more belt colors... to make sure you will at least spend $15K here 3. Testing is now every 6 weeks instead of 4 weeks...if you miss the test you will have to wait another 6 weeks or pay $$ for private testing 4. Leadership seminar time is horrible, 8pm on Friday?! Used to have 2 sessions available on weekends with more desirable time. 5. Stop giving all required sparring gears... leave the kids chest unprotected! TKD is about kicking and punching your opponent's torso!!! read more

What a rude awakening after 6 years with the Vison martial art academy and the owner Kevin. My son joined the academy in Jan 2016 and just achieved his black belt and we were expecting a black belt certificate. When we asked about it, Kevin sent us his black belt packet for reference on the procedure and came to know that my son has to continue with training for 40 more weeks, after achieving the black belt, to receive the certificate. Which was fine by me. Every parent sees the black belt achievement as a milestone, I asked Kevin if he can provide us an acknowledgment of achievement that my son has received a black belt otherwise the black belt has no meaning, and anybody can get the black belt from Amazon. For Some reason, Kevin didn't like the Amazon reference and replied (very unprofessionally) that my son and I don't know the purpose of training and he feels sorry for both of us and sent us an AMAZON link to get the certificate. That just did it, he had no right to bring my son into this conversation. I replied accordingly and then in retaliation, he prematurely canceled my son's membership, now my son can't complete his certification. He blamed me for the cancelation and mentioned that I have crossed the redline and harassed him and his employees. Kevin is the one who started the harassment in the first place when he involved my son in the conversation and said those unprofessional comments. As for employees, I have the email proof that not a word was said to the employees from me. Now I look back, he doesn't even have real trainers most of the trainers he has are recent graduate from his academy. I don't have any issue with them, they are just doing their job. We have all his conversations saved that clearly show his demeaning replies. What we have experienced with this academy and if I Have known this 6 years ago, I would never have my son enrolled there. There are a lot of other options. I have called around other academies and they do provide recognition of achievement for the black belt. This academy is good as long as you keep them paying and keep your mouth shut. As soon as you ask them a question or confront them, instead of properly explaining they get very defensive. At last, I know what his reply to this review would be as he replies to all the other bad reviews. Instead of finding a resolution, he plays the blame game and calls the reviews illegitimate, and steers clear from any responsibility. read more

My daughter had been in VMA for more than 4 years and she is a Black belt holder now. Leadership classes and the positive enforcement are great value add.Their response for all our needs be it going on vacation, class reschedules and online classes have been very promptly answered. When I began looking for a martial arts studio for my 6 and 8 year olds, my priority was to find a school that helps build self confidence, self discipline, and self defense. I sat and observed classes at many schools in the area and no one impressed me more than Vision Martial Arts. The biggest difference I noticed was the instructors, particularly Master LeMat. No question, I am my kids' favorite male adult, but Master LeMat is a close 2nd. He has a special way of teaching important life lessons in a fun and goofy way. The leadership program and badge system are effective in motivating my kids to becoming better versions of themselves (and they were already outstanding kids to begin with). In a mere 5 months, I can see their confidence has grown tremendously. I took martial arts for 6+ years many, many years ago and I love and am proud of my school. I am surprised nobody has written a review yet about Vision Martial Arts Silver Creek. My kids and I LOVE this place. It was recently built, extra clean, and brand new. No feet smells or corrosion of floors and mats unlike other karate places with high volume. This place is just perfect! It is not overcrowded and they have these nice new benches for parents to view their children practice martial arts. The instructors are amazing and so patient with the kids. They give very personalized attention to every child and helps them improve any way possible. I know this because all three of my children are in the program and the Master Instructor, Mr. LeMat, is excellent in his communication of my children's progress. I don't even have to ask. I love how they teach kids about respect and self defense. Whenever the instructors appear, all the kids bow and then take a knee on the mat. They all seem to do it without being forced to. They truly seem to enjoy it there. The instructors really know how to give and receive respect from the students. The students all say " Yes, Sir" or " Yes, Maam", to their instructors. I am impressed to see my children so focused and respectful. They bring this level of respect home as well which is nice for me. What also impresses me about Vision Martial Arts is their generosity. I was lucky enough to receive a Free Month of martial arts for all three of my children. They were giving free certificates at my children's school carnival. Not only that, they give out free brand new in a bag uniforms! No obligations to continue with the class after the free month trial but you get to keep the uniforms. The uniforms are very nice and of great quality. I even received one in case I wanted to try out the adult classes. The adult classes are offered free of charge when you choose a family plan. The family plan is the best option if you have 2 or more enrolled children. They currently have a $49 web special for one month which includes a free uniform. If you decide not to continue after a month, the uniform is yours to keep. It's a great deal and an inexpensive way to see if martial arts is right for your child. Vision Martial arts is located in the Beautiful Canyon Creek Shopping Plaza in the Silver Creek Hills. It's next to New Leaf Market and there is a Starbucks and various restaurants in the plaza. My son recently joined this studio about a month ago. Before transferring to this studio, he was learning Kung Fu for about 1.5 years. But due to distance/time, my wife and I decided to try a martial arts studio that was closer to home. Besides the studio's proximity, the teaching philosophy attracted us to this particular studio. During my first visit, the instructors explained they don't train their students to fight, they train their students to become confident leaders. 50% of the time (it's only been a month), my son is too intimidated to participate in the class. I think it's because he came from a Kung Fu studio where the typical class size was about 5 kids to a Martial Arts studio that had 15-20 kids. But he fully participates the other 50% of the time. The instructors are very understanding and try their best to ultimately help my son reach that comfort level where he can participate in class 100% of the time. While my son is in his 50% funk, Mr. Holland tries to playfully engage with my son by playing high-5 games. And one time Mr. Ramos sat down next to him and tried to help him feel comfortable with playful banter. Halfway through class, my son eventually felt comfortable enough to jump in and hit some bags. My son has only been in this studio for a month, but judging from my observations of instructors and higher rank students, this is where I would like him to continue learning. Despite different personalities they all have the same expectations with positive and proactive teaching. Classes are full but I'm one for the quality of teaching vs. quantity of kids. I have registered for my son for pee-wee classes, 2xWeek, Sat & Sun. The staffs have very bad communication with parents. First, They closed on Mother's Day weekend, and didn't send out notification in advance. There were 3 parents came to class and saw the closed notice on the door. A week later, another staff called me and said that my son was not on the list for Sat. [WTH...it was written on the contract]. Then they said that they don't want me to be unhappy, so they will refund my $$$$. Nice!!!! I didn't have to cancel it myself. Wish to rate it no star. We started our daughters at Vision Martial Arts to improve their strength and flexibility. After 8 months, I can truly say that they have far exceeded my expectations. Other than teaching the mechanics of Taekwondo, the focus on building character of the students has impressed me. Master LeMat, Ms. Alam, Mr. Cameron are not only great instructors, they are great role-models for my kids. My younger daughter enjoys the training days, and insists on staying back for the next class just to watch them practice. My son Rohin is going to Vision Martial art for few months and he is very much enjoying the lessons with master LeMat and his staff. My son has been with VMA for several months and he really enjoys taking karate lessons here. I love that the teachers are all very professional, friendly, energetic, attentive and very well spoken. The facility is clean and always smells fresh which is a plus. And I know it's the cleanest gym out there because I've visited about 4 gyms prior to choosing VMA. They have leadership courses in addition to your regular classes to help you develop other skills like mentorship etc. Prior to joining VMA, my son was very shy but he has developed confidence, self esteem and takes initiative now. A Five star view does not do this place justice. I was a student from way before they rebranded into Vision Martial Arts, back when it was still known as ABK, America's Best Karate. They lived up to that name and still do because this place REALLY TRULY IS the BEST Karate place! I trained with Vision for 4-5 years and I received my Black Belt. The journey was fulfilling, rewarding, and has changed my life for the better. As a young adult looking back now, Karate shaped me into the person that I am today. They taught me not only how to defend myself, but instilled values and taught me lessons that you simply cannot just learn from a book or through Google. The instructors are so helpful, and eager to teach their students. The environment is welcoming, and fun. My son goes to VMA from last one year. He loves attending the classes. All the teachers are very well trained and professional. My son loves earning the batches awarded at the end of the class.The schedule of classes is flexible and in case of a class miss there are regular weekend make up sessions.
