This has to be the worst post office I have ever had the misfortune to use! They spend most of…read moretheir time behind the scenes trying to look busy, rather than serve! There's the older guy that I actually thought may have had an accident in the past because he is so, so slow! Only to find this is not the case and he is just arrogant (as suggested by one of his work mates). Then another guy, patchy hair, slow and just damn irritating, all you want to do is get served and get out after the long wait but all he's interested in is selling you stuff you don't need or chats away like an old woman after he's served, making the que even longer. Then there's the brash blonde scouse woman and the younger girl with shoulder length dark hair (not the full shilling), crack a smile will you girls! Better than the dirty looks you throw out to all your customers. Every time i have been here I have received nothing but rude comments and dirty looks from staff and i'm not the only one to experience this. I have never had such bad customer service in all my life! There are one or two that are really good at what they do and really upbeat but the others just let the team down, such a contrast. The managers need to do a spot check on this place and sort the dossers from the workers.
I come to this area of England every year and one thing that always intrigues me is that whenever I…read moreneed to go to the Post Office in the village of Formby, THERE IS ALWAYS A LINE (Queue). It is amazing, no matter what time of day you go in, there is a one and it is usually long. Yesterday, I went to change some cash from dollars to pound sterling and the line was pretty long--the good thing is that I got a chance to chat up some of the locals & hear some funny stories. Although the queue was long, it went really quickly. I will say they have fantastic customer service and will get in & out in a jiffy. They have all your mail needs there--everything from stamps, envelopes, cards, stationary and writing instruments. I love that they do not charge a commission for changing currency and they chat me up a bit because I have an "accent". It is very efficient and that is a huge bonus in my book.

I see no reason to visit here unless you live here. There's nothing to see. They also have a small selection of gifts, and I especially like the ones displayed in the window as they are more unusual.

The staff know what they are doing and people go through quite quickly but it is the only Post Office in the area so it can get busy. There is a chemist/pharmacy in the same building so it's useful if you have prescriptions to fulfil as well as needing to post letters/parcels. You can send by DPD or Evri as well as Royal Mail. You can buy your postage from eBay and just drop it off and get a certificate of posting at the same time.

They also have a fairly decent supply of mailing materials such as jiffy bags, etc, and a good variety of greeting cards including some humorous ones. Railway Road Post Office is the closest Post Office currently open in Leigh town centre (The branch…read moreinside Spinning Gate Shopping Centre remains closed during the UK government lockdown as it is inside a Ryman store), it is a short walk away from the town's main shopping area and bus station. It feels like the priority is making it a newsagent first with some overpriced items, rather than a Post Office, the store feels cramped and not very pleasant. The store doesn't offer as many facilities as a larger Post Office, but you can still withdraw and deposit cash into your bank account, and post parcels. I'm glad this store is open on Sunday's as that's the most useful place about this Post Office, I do think they shut a little early at 5 pm during the week, closing half an hour earlier on Saturday's and another half an hour early on Sunday's again. There isn't a Post Box outside which is a little annoying. I wish the Post Office in the town centre would open again, as this location is less than ideal, I also don't think the service is as throughout or professional as you'd get from a Crown Post Office or even one located inside another store.
