Doctors overbook with no respect for patients time. There is always a room full of people waiting. Unbelievable!

I'm sure they provide really good care but beware if you accompany someone - the waiting room is the most uncomfortable waiting room I have ever been in for same day surgery. Also bring a jacket if it's hot outside - freezing in there! read more

I had a detached retina and the doctor that did my surgery was very nice. Wonderful doctor. Well, In the outcome. It didn't work. I still have blurry vision, but the complaint that I do have is when I was done with my operation was calling in the triage because I was in pain, my eye had high eye pressure the woman that works there in the triage and it's an emergency number at that place was rude. Ignorant didn't give a crap about anything. she put me on hold. Told me she would call me back never did for an hour later I will never go back to that place, I think her name was Debbie the one doctor I went back to for a second visit because my regular doctor was not there. He told me that I could don't have to hold my head down which was false. I was supposed to hold my head down so that was a down there , I will never go back to that place again read more

The last time my mom was there, it was a 3 hour wait to be called back, and then another 48 minutes to see the doctor who gave her the eye injection, that never seemed to help. They are also giving one of my friends these expensive eye injections monthly to keep from developing worse macular degeneration in that eye. The problem with that you ask??? The eye doesn't open!! The eyelid was damaged and no longer opens...but medicare keeps paying for the shots, she keeps paying her copay, and her eye doesn't open. Shaking my head. The other part of this, was that the people in the waiting room really are mostly seniors. One woman was almost in tears because she was with her husband who has diabetes and she was terribly worried about his blood sugar levels. Came for the consult for lasik for my fiancé, quick check in on kiosk & with front desk. Waiting room was filled when we came, very busy. Front desk staff was nice. We didn't know we would be there for over 2 hours, but it seemed to go by quick. The nurses/doctors were all very kind, explained everything thoroughly, and made sure all questions were answered! Really like when they talk through the procedures, and explain all the details. Found out he wasn't eligible for lasik, but was for prk surgery. Happy they really took the time to make sure all was good! read more

You can rest assured that anyone who gave this practice 5 stars are either friends, family or elderly people with absolutely nothing else to do. Based on the ratings, some positive ratings are due to routine procedures like Lasik surgery being handled correctly. So, I guess I should base my next choice of PCP on how well they do tonsillectomies. Or, perhaps I should find a primary care doctor whose staff does a bang-up job of taking blood pressure readings. Otherwise, if waiting two hours past your scheduled time, while hearing the staff joke around in the back while doing nothing is OK with you, then this is the place for you. I instead chose to see another doctor who actually respects his patients and at least attempts to stick with the schedule. I have asked many people in the waiting room about how long they were waiting, and I've heard upwards of three or four hours !!!!! Then, once your name is finally called, it's like you hit the friggin' lottery. Until you go to see one of the doctors - I saw Doctor Nairn. I went there for cataracts surgery..totally destroyed both of my eyes..SIX surgeries later they told me I might have to live with oil in my eye for the rest of my life...I went to a real surgeon and he has already restored my sight one month..repair all the damage Aio did to my eyes.. Recently decided to go through with the Lasik eye procedure and could not be more pleased with the results! It is like magic. The staff at AIO is very knowledgeable and professional. The process was easy and I had no nerves going into it. Dr. Santoro and his assistant keep you updated and comfortable throughout the short process. I would not recommend anyone go to Associates in Ophthalmology, ever. I had to go to have a simple 4 minute test done on my eyes, and when I schedule the appointment, I specifically said all I needed was this particular test, I had already had a complete eye exam covered by my insurance. When I call and had my initial appointment scheduled, I gave my information and stated that I was only looking to have this one particular test done, and the young woman and I hung up. Later I received a call stating they had to change my appointment with because they wanted me to see a different doctor. I again reiterated I would only be needing a particular test and not a whole eye exam. So I scheduled that appointment. I get my reminder calls letting me know that I needed to arrive about 15 minutes before hand to do my paperwork. When I arrived, I noticed there were two waiting rooms and both were full. I did not get my paperwork until 11:30, the time of my appointment. I then sat in the waiting room until noon when I was called back by the tech who proceeded to put drops in my eyes and dilated them. I AGAIN reiterated I was only there for one test and was informed that I would have to do the whole exam and that it was their "process". I was then sent BACK out to the waiting room to wait. It was about 12:05. I waited until 12:30 and approached the receptionist and told her that my appointment was at 11:30 and it was 12:30 and I needed to go back to work and was there any way they could let me know about how much longer I would be waiting and they told me 15 to 20 minutes. At 1:00 I went and told the receptionist I was leaving and she asked me if I wanted to reschedule and I told her absolutely not. Just as I was heading for the door the med tech came to get me to do my 4 minute test. After the test she told me she would get the doctor the results and I could go back out to the waiting room again and wait. I proceeded to ask her if he couldn't call me at home with the results, that my appointment time was 11:30 and I had to go back to work as I didn't take off the whole day and she proceeded to tell me not to flip out on her, that she had already been flipped out on. Long story short, I did get in to see the doctor who promptly told me that when they schedule, to plan for two to four hours. I let him know I was never told this, nor when I schedule the appointment that I would have to go through a whole exam process rather than just get the on 4 minute test I needed. My total exam time was no more than 20 minutes, yet I was expected to give up a massive amount of time to sit in their waiting room. People were lined up in the office like cattle. There weren't enough seats for everyone. Most were elderly people, and I was giving up my seat so that the elderly patients could sit down and not have to stand. It was unfortunate and unprofessional. My impression was that my time was not as valuable as this company's time. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to any of these offices. There are other good Ophthalmologists in Butler that could do the same thing and not treat you like you are cattle. Go there if they will take your insurance. Had I known what my experience was going to be, I would have done my research and gone elsewhere. My appointment was at the Hollywood Drive, Butler, PA office. read more

Not sure the practice here is so great. My father was getting injections to prevent blindness from macular degeneration. He was among the elderly masses waiting for hours to get treatment. Two hours was routine and sometimes more. So sad and so compliant. So after about two years of expensive monthly injections, my father acquired an infection in his eye requiring surgery and miraculously did not require another injection in his eye to keep the bleeding blood vessels from blinding him. read more

Had laser cataracts surgery here a few weeks ago and astigmatism corrected as well. I am in my late fourties and they helped put me at ease as I was very upset about having cataracts at my age . Turns out it's not that uncommon in your fourties and fifties . Surgery was quick and painless and results were immediate! Highly recommend this place! My vision is now 20/20! 01/22/2019 - I am unemployed and applied for COBRA. I scheduled an appointment with an AIO ophthalmology associate for tomorrow. I contacted the AIO finance department to ask if I could possibly be seen as a private pay patient and that billing be made to the insurance company once the COBRA kicked in. I informed the finance department person that my COBRA premium was paid and that I am currently awaiting coverage confirmation - coverage that is supposed to cover the entire month of January 2019. The finance person checked with the doctor who said I would need to bring in $892.00 with me to the appointment in order to be seen. Needless to say, I cancelled the appointment because I do NOT have that kind of money on hand, especially being unemployed. So much for medical compassion. Gregg K. read more

Terrible practice! They process people quickly like heards of cattle at this place. No one takes any time to talk to you about you concerns or apprehensions about procedures. I was having multiple eye infections. The doctor hardly bothered to look at what medications i was taking and their side effects. He quickly determined that I needed a tear duct plug. About a week later I recieve a bill in the mail for roughly $250!!! No one told me that this wouldn't be covered and that it would cost so much!!! I would have never done it! And the worst part was I still got eye infections. Frustrated, I went off of my birth control and low and behold that was the cuplrit. Lesson learned, don't let any doctor talk you into anything without going over all the risks, benefits, and costs. read more

Yes, it is frustrating to sit for up to 2 hours ...... a LONG wait for a routine followup visit. (EYE) am one of the reasons for shutting down the office 2 times, causing backups, long delays, but thankful for the quick actions taken by the staff. (EMERGENCIES) A patient for over 22 years with my left eye detachments, and now the right. A call to the hot line 4 AM answering service, return call by Debbie the on call nurse at 4:15 AM. Explained my sudden loss of vision and flashes, Told to meet Dr. Busquetts and Dr. Y at 8 in Monroeville. They placed me ahead of an office full of scheduled patients. He immediately sent me to West Mifflin for emergency surgery for a massive detachment called the curtain effect. Surgery began as soon as we both could get there. Without that quick action, (EYE) would not have the 60% vision in that eye now. Three weeks later, the same eye detached again, causing delays in the Uniontown office. Three other patients were waiting for emergency surgery as we were leaving that day. THANKS GUYS! read more

The staff here was fine as well as the doctors, but they have you waiting HOURS. There is a total disregard for patient time and commitments. It feels like a job just getting through a follow up appointment. I'm not sure if the doctors just don't care about their patients' time because they serve a huge older population, but I'm sure even retirees value their time. I knew it was going to be bad when a staff member passed around snacks an hour into the wait. Ridiculous! I wouldn't recommend this place unless maybe you wanna meet some new people waiting at the doctor's office. read more

Totally agree with Marie ... my poor 92-year old dad has been going there for years to "save" his sight, waiting 2-3 hours held like a hostage, and his eyes have gotten progressively worse. When I told the doctor this (or rather his assistant, wasn't granted an audience with the doctor) I was told his vision remained the same since the beginning. Odd since when he started he could quilt and now can't even see w/a magnifying glass to read. read more

Had Lasik here about 2 months ago and everything went great. The doctors, surgeons, and staff are wonderful. They take time to answer all of your questions. The surgeon even walked me through everything he was doing during surgery. I now have 20/15 vision and couldn't be happier. read more

I recently visited the Monroeville office. The staff was rude and Dr. Thomas is curt. If your looking for someone to take time and care with you she is not the physician for you. Plan on waiting hours for an exam. If I could give this zero stars I would. read more
