I needed some information which was not opinion and was based completely on science. I was having health problems recently and I suspected a mold issue in my dwelling I contracted with Air environmental for some environmental testing. The request was for some mold sampling and a report on the conditions of the air in my rental unit. At first I thought this is really expensive I don't know? I made the decision to proceed and I have to say that the quality of the work they did Far exceeds the price they charge! It was very simple and quick to make an appointment they arrived they did the testing they were gone seemed like in no time at all 2 days later the report arrived. After reading it and sending a copy to several people who were curious as I am about what's going on here I just could not have imagined the amount of information that the science they use revealed mind boggling. I know more about mold then I ever thought I would I also clearly understand what's going on in my own home now I know How to go forward! I Lknow how to handle this from now on. That is comforting and reassuring being given the tools to deal with important issues at home. I called them on a Monday afternoon regarding an asbestos analysis at a demolition site. They had a technician (Pierce) at the site the next morning. He was knowledgeable and meticulous. (If I didn't know better, I would have thought he was gathering DNA evidence from a crime scene!) I was quite surprised when I had the written report by email 24 hours later. I was referred to Nate by another business and called yesterday. He was able to squeeze me in this morning. I was concerned that I had mold in an area of my home. After looking in the crawl space area that I was concerned with he advised that the problem was not mold, so testing was unnecessary. He said that he could do testing if I wanted to pursue it, but he was being conscientious of price. I offered to pay a consult fee but he declined. He was very informative and kind. read more

I am genuinely shocked by all of the great reviews here because the crew working on my townhome in SF was absolutely negligent and showed no understanding of mold, or the science behind mold growth. A hot water pipe broke and it took the HOA 7 days to get someone to come out and turn the water off properly so hot water poured into an enclosed wall for at least 7 days. The red flags started right off the bat when Air Environmental showed up to take initial samples and did not collect them per proper protocol. Josh even told me that windows should have been closed with air filters turned off for 24 hours before collections were taken but he took them anyway. All the windows in the house were open, as well as several HEPA filters running and inside the containment area there was both an industrial air scrubber and a dehumidifier and they collected an air sample from in there- not sure what sort of data you're expecting to get by taking a mold sample in a 4x4 foot space with an industrial air scrubber running? I had to ask them a half dozen times to amend their report to accurately reflect the improper collection environment and they finally did, but even after amending the report he didn't get it right and I lost steam fighting them. I ended up paying out of pocket to get a second specialist out to rerun the tests to get a true reading with windows closed and air filters turned off. It then took them TWO FULL MONTHS to provide proper recommendations to rip out the saturated dry wall and ply board, while saturated material continued to sit inside of an enclosed space. Reasons for not recommending that the saturated materials be removed included, "it's dry" and "I can't see mold". Of course it was dry, it had been over a month since the leak had been fixed! And I didn't realize mold spores were visible to the naked eye? After weeks of arguing, they finally agreed to recommend removing the saturated material because I accused them of negligence and guess what... black mold was visibly growing inside the wall. No surprise because mold= science= facts. There's no way hot water leaked into a wall for 7 days and then was allowed to sit for 2 months without mold growth, it's scientifically impossible. They didn't even want to remove the dry wall initially and would happily have left black mold proliferating inside of my walls. I'm not sure what sort of certification they have, but I do not recommend working with this group. If you're not well versed in mold and don't have an in depth understanding, you'd never know they're potentially leaving you with what could turn into a major health disaster. The 2 months of working with them was incredibly stressful and I have recommended that my HOA remove them as an approved vendor as a result of the awful experience. read more

I was extremely impressed with Josh after reaching out to get an asbestos test on our home after a renovation. He was extremely upfront and honest, letting me know that our particular scenario may not call for an asbestos test, rather than trying to take our money without us having a need. We decided to do the test anyway, just for peace of mind. Josh and Pierce, who was the one who came to our home, were so professional and informative. They answered every question that I had, some of which were overly cautious. We were looking for an overall environmental assessment, and not just mold or carpeting or some other detail. We got if from Josh, who did the lab tests and then more importantly explained the test results to us. The explanations showed his experience and knowledge and background.
