Money is tight, so we went with option 2, and he told us the warning signs to look for in case it didn't work. The quick fix did not work, which we sort of expected, and again, they had someone at our house right away. This time we went with the replacement -- and they knocked off the amount we had already paid a couple weeks earlier from the new price. Called back again at 8am and got call center again. They said they sent the message and tech got the page at 5am when I originally called. Yet no call back from the tech or anyone! Had to call back again at 9am. This time got the office. The woman on the other end couldn't have cared less that my basement was flooded, I had no heat or water, that we're regular customers and that no one called back. She said the tech was on vacation! So why have a calling service if you're not going staff it appropriately or care to respond? Frankly if the tech called me back and said he was on vacation I would have been fine with that so I could have moved on to another emergency service sooner. I requested an inspection and cleaning on our single stack fireplace and chimney. Jesse took me through Fires Inside Your Home 101, which is important because fires inside of your house. He thoroughly explained parts, procedures and problems to be aware of, but never once did he oversell services. He even took it a step further to remove flammable pieces of molding that had settled in the ash trap - busting out a jigsaw to hack the wood in removable pieces. Above and beyond. We ordered a chimney cap, primarily because we now live in a wildlife preserve and I can only imagine how many birds, squirrels, chipmunks, antelope, dingos, rhinocerii and whatever elses may sneak in to our stack would be gently roasted by our crackling fire. Which, by the way, is inside our house. Which is also where my family lives. WHY DOES THIS NOT FREAK EVERYONE OUT? They put it in our house without figuring out or even knowing if our plumbing would support it. They have reduced the value of our home. There's a lot more to this story. I went back and forth with this terrible company for more than a year. I will most likely open a civil lawsuit against them if and when we can afford to pay for repairs which one plumber said would be $6000. The cost of the install was $14000. (no pun intended) They came to my house ON TIME for the initial estimate on a Friday morning and were on time again Monday to do the install. It's a humidifier so it's never going to be a work of art but the install was very clean. They went beyond even what I would consider my insanely high standards to do an install to hide almost every single wire or seam you could imagine. Heck it even took them less time to do the job then they told me and nicely cleaned up the area when they were done.
