I was waiting for my anger ro calm down a bit to write this review. I hired Air Tight Heating & Air after seen the old reviews I thought maybe the company had changed their services for the best. But i was wrong ! The owner came to my house to diagnose my AC unit for an $88 fee then he replaced a thing here and there and since not everyone is familiar with the AC parts and what not, I agreed to have some parts replaced, a few hundred dollars later. Still nothing works then he says that my unit may need to be replaced or fixed for around $1800. After he left I troubleshooted the AC unit and got it to work, so now I am thinking did I even needed the pieces he repaired? It was a loose wire inside the actual filter area or to be more specific the AC control board. So I will NEVER call this company, it's sad that Tehachapi been such a lovely community and small town, the local businesses don't take care of the locals. We have to rely on companies from Bakersfield or Palmdale. read more

The worst. We were told 2 weeks in early July for a new AC install. They have not finished the job and we're now being told Sept 12-14th to finish! We've paid them over $8000 and they do not call back. They had no problem taking our money and making false promises. The receptionist is extremely rude. I used their services and was completely unsatisfied with the final result. They came to fix my air conditioning unit and said "they would be able to fix it but it's on the last leg and will need to be replaced soon ". They quoted me $9000 to replace the unit or $800 to fix. I agreed to the $800 it would cost to get it back up and running. Needed a new board and some wiring. The unit never worked for months. The temps outside were nice so we weren't in a hurry. We called them to assess the problem and they came and said everything was fine but it still didn't work. We decided to have Home Depot send out their professionals to assess the situation and they sent out Bland AC. Here is what they stated on the analysis report. - - -Checked unit for heating and cooling. Found 5 amp resettable fuse would open during cooling. Found transformer red wire in wrong spot on control board. Red wire was on high limit terminal instead of transformer terminal. Placed wire in correct place. Next checked unit for heat. Found inducer motor not turning on. Found inducer relay on small board stuck open. Tapped on relay and it closed but burners would not turn on. Found red and orange wire on pressure switches were reversed and in wrong spot. Switched wires on pressure switch and pressure switch working well. Ignition Module not turning on main burners. - - -Unit needs new ignition module and control board. So according to Bland AC they wired the air conditioning unit improperly and after speaking with Bland AC directly they stated the board that they installed was the wrong board and that is why it needed to be replaced. It cost me $900 this time to fix everything properly and am having no issues with the unit. I requested a refun for improper work from Air Tight and have been ignored. This is why I am writing this extremely long negative review. I understand maybe an inexperienced tech did the work though I believe it was the owner but it could have been just a screw up on his part. If he would have refunded the work that he did improperly I would have been content. Do not do business with the company. - - UPDATE - Owner called to apologize and refund for mistake but never did. I am always willing to give a company a chance if they are willing to make it right. Apparently not. read more

I called them on a Sunday afternoon during Mountain Festival weekend (huge festival here in town). Him and his family were enjoying the festival when I called. He was very nice and not bothered at all that my AC problem would take him away from the afternoons events. He was here when he said he would be, was very professional, he worked quickly, he did not try to sell us things we didn't need (like a new air-conditioning system), he charged a very fair price, especially for coming out on a Sunday afternoon during Mountain Festival. Great company. I smelt a burning smell from my ac unit and called to have them come check it out. Their technician Robert came and troubleshot my whole system and answered all my questions. He found nothing wrong and suggested it might of been dust burning off that possibly got up in the system when I changed the filter. When it came time to pay, he said don't worry about it. We had just got back from vacation and my heater wasn't working. Called around and air tight was the only ones to answer. Most people didn't even return my phone call. Air tight was able to come out the same day.- was very thankful. He was very polite and knew exactly what he was doing. They had to order a part and it arrived quickly. Installation was quick and again he was very nice. My heater works better now, then it did before it was broken. Reasonable prices, friendly, knowledgable, and great customer service. We had a wonderful experience, our heater stopped working in the middle of the night and we have a one year old baby. We called everywhere in town the following morning and nobody was available to come out and take a look at it for us, finally we called Air Tight and explained to them our situation and they had someone out hours later to trouble shoot and the very next morning fix our problem for a very reasonable price!! I had air tight come out to service my heater. I had not been having any problems, it was just dirty. They said my exchanger was cracked and dangerous levels of co2 were coming from it. They unhooked my heater, charged me $88, and gone! Panicked, I get estimates from several companies for a new heater. I have a home warranty, and another company from lancaster came out. No cracked exchanger, no rust, it needed a couple of things which they fixed, and my heater works better than ever and they cleaned and also serviced it. Always better to get a second opinion on heating and air conditioning!!! And my deductible for my home warranty was only $60. The guy from lancaster had over 30 years experience, and showed me everthing about my heater! read more

Very pleased with their service. I had called TWO other A/C and heating companies prior to Air Tight Heating and Air. Neither company answered their phone during business hours but I left messages with each company. Twice each. No return call from either one. A friend recommended Air Tight Heating and Air and I am so glad she did! My call was answered promptly. My questions were answered and my appointment was set all within a few minutes. Communication with office and tech was fantastic. Office staff and tech were incredibly kind, polite and knowledgeable. Our unit was serviced and the price was very reasonable. Robert and Debie are fantastic people. As are their sons. Pleasant people to deal with. Wife and I bought a 30 year old house, with a 30 year old HVAC system. Home inspector said there were serious problems with the furnace. Called Air Tight for a more detailed inspection of the HVAC system. Robert came and did an inspection and found and showed me the really bad issues with the furnace. In my mind, this was a serious safety issue. Wife and I decided to replace/upgrade the entire system. My A/C stopped working this morning at around 9:00am. I called Air Tight and they gave me a same day appointment. Mason came out within 3 hours of my initial call. Airtight installed new HVAC, $8,500, to replace our 33 year old HVAC. Since installing, the new "energy efficient" heater runs continuously...as soon as it shuts off, turns right back on. Since installed two months ago, our gas bill has gone up and we are using more therms per day than with our 33 year old heater. After two weeks of being installed, owner came to check it, said it was working, but thinner filter would probably correct problem, and he would order the filter. Now two months later, owner has not gotten filter, and the heater is still not cycling properly. I have left several messages with the office staff, with no return call to rectify the problem with the new heater. Poor customer service and follow-up, but receptionist, Jordan, is courteous. read more

Well after 10 years of complete nonsense dealing with warranty companies I finally found a legit company that has fixed my Air Conditioning!!! Great Service from the office (Debbie and Robert) to the field Mason, Anthony, and Tyler. If you want a company who cares and will work hard as hell to find and fix your problem this is the Company to call. No nonsense folks. Price was fair. They saved me about 5000.00. Air Tight Heating and Air Conditioning exceeded my expectations. Willy was the technician, he was on time, polite, professional, and knew his job. Willy knew how to fix our AC unit and fine tune it. The last company wanted to just replace everything. This company understands customer service and has a real office, with people who answer the phone. So this review took me awhile to write since I was pretty upset at this company, but hopefully this helps steer others. My husband and I recently bought a new home in Tehachapi back in March. Air tight was called out from the sellers to do a check on rust our home inspector found in a pan underneath the HVAC system. Long story short, we were told they would have to replace the heating element pan that cost around 800 bucks. Moving forward, once we closed I went straight into Air tight building and paid the 800 dollars to get the pan fixed. They said they were going to ordered the part... no word for 3 months... I had to call to check and see what was going on and where they were out with the process. Soon the installer called my husband and came out to replace the pan. When the installer came it was the wrong part and now he would need to order another one. 2 months goes by and no word. I call again..... No answer to speak to anyone at the time was told they will call back. Eventually my husband gets a call a couple weeks later after he calls the company again that they can't find the part and are going to search the internet for the part in hopes they can get it since "they no longer make the part for our trane 2008 system... (It's only 10 years old). About 3 more months go by and no word, no call, no update on whats going on... nothing. We call again, my husband finally gets a call back from the owner stating that they can't find the part and that we would have to replace our whole unit in order to fix the problem... Thats about 3-4k. First of all they should of done their research before saying they could fix it and not knowing they couldn't get the part, considering we were in the process of buying the home and now WE as purchasers would have to fork over 3-4k for a new unit which should of been inspected properly before purchase. Second, absolutely no communication, I had to call each time and no update on what was going on from March all the way to September. Each and every time!!! They have a front desk and a manager in the office that could of called us considering we already paid them. Now heres the kicker.... We had sawyer and assc. from Lancaster come out and inspect for second opinion to see if we needed replace unit. Comes to find out it is fine, and the rust was from a previous leak or condensation that was previously fixed and no problem with the unit..... To finish and end this story My husband asked for a refund back for what we paid them, the owner did offer to leave a check for us to pick up. When I walked in the next week to pick it up the check the manger in the office acted like she had no idea what I was talking about, she purposely ignored our realtors calls when we wanted a resolution for them messing up with the quote while we were in the process of escrow, and stated that our realtor never called her back... " our realtor was my mother" so I am aware of the real story. & then when I asked her to speak to the owner so I could get the check since we paid them and they never did their job for 6 months... she told me " No" he's on a job... this company installed an air conditioning system less than 2 years ago in a house i am renting, the system is not working .... the rental agent sent another company first who did not fix it. then she called this company (the original installer) who sent TWO men out. they spent the first ten minutes telling me how inept and terrible the other company was. then after about 40 minutes of parading around the house with a infrared camera told me that it wasn't working and that they would put us on the schedule for a "service call". i then joked with them about sending TWO men out that couldn't fix a coolant leak (what do hvac techs do...?). they went back to the office and bawled their eyes out about me "teasing" them. the company owner, Robert, then called me whining about how i had hurt his workers and that he would not fix my a/c.... i have been a rental manager and have a ton of experience with hvac contractors as well as electricians, plumbers, carpenters etc. etc. and i have NEVER met such a bunch of panty-wastes in my life. do yourself a favor and don't hire these cry-babies.... read more

Just bought are first house in town and everything was going great until last Saturday, our wall heater stopped working. I checked it out, cleaned connections and used a VOM. No luck. Called three heating and air people locally Sunday and had no response, WOW Now it is Tuesday morning and the pipes in the house haven't burst yet because it is 25 degrees outside, I decided to call Air Tight, have know idea why I did not call them in the first place but somebody actually answered their phone. Spoke to Robert and he actually walked me through the normal protocol of a system check. The conclusion is the over heating switch popped indicating an issue with ventilation. Air tight heating and air came out with next to no notice to check our heater for the winter months coming. The tech was very polite and didn't mind our dog obnoxiously barking and sniffing him. He did his inspection very thoroughly and determined our heater to be unsafe due to an extremely high level of carbon monoxide coming from the unit. I'm beyond thankful for them coming out and keeping my family safe. Local businesses are where it's at and I highly recommend them!! read more
