Mr. Greg Fassbender arrived at our home to double-check an inspection completed 2 weeks ago by a Monarch Home Services (MHS) technician, under a contract we held with them. We were unsure of the need for a cleaning of a Door Wheel and other components described as having a 'heavy buildup' as described by the MHS technician. Mr. Fassbender agreed with our assessment that the components described were not dirty and didn't need cleaning at this time. He ALSO found a major issue with the heater box not having a LP (liquid propane) catch-pan installed under the heater box per regulation (that MHS should have installed during the original construction of our heating system)!! We are VERY grateful that he conducted such a thorough inspection and found a potentially hazardous condition. I first met Greg while I was working (caregiver for the fiesty elderly!) & he came out to my clients house to repair her leaking hot water heater - or maybe it was an AC issue, either way he had to totally replace the wall (among other things). Fassbender Heating and Air has been a big problem to say the least. My 86 yr old mother's and 92 yr old disabled Korean War vet dad's propane forced air furnace that Fassbender installed some years ago was not working right, kept not staying lit and shutting off at times for some reason. Fasbender came out and charged my mom and dad $175. to look at it. They took a look and didn't find anything and told us to check the red LED light code to see how many times it blinks when it goes out again and text them to let them know how many times it blinks so they can look up the error code. They came back with a price of over $700 for three parts they would need to replace to repair it. I told forget it, for two reasons. One I felt like why would three parts go out at the same time, and two, by the time we paid for the service repair and appointment and parts we would be going well over $1000. After my folks living with no heat during the winter, because of a heater that often didn't work at night when it was the coldest for over four months, I noticed after that the heater would work during the day after the sun was up and often in the evening it would work but then shut off. After some months with my folks having no heat at night during winter, I thought maybe it was a the propane tank considering the expansion of the propane gas when the sun was hitting the tank. I had our propane provider Western come out and check the regulator at the tank and the tech said that the regulator went out and that it's a very common thing and that definitely would cause the furnace to not work correctly. I told him about what happened with Fassbender and he was perplexed why they didn't check the propane pressure at the furnace. Now what do you think? Do you think three parts on a furnace would ever go out at the same time? I don't. Do you think that Fassbender found some elderly people to take advantage of? I do. Do you think they faked the need for a furnace repair or were just negligent? That would have been a nice chunk of change in their pocket for an expensive vacation or expensive dinners out for them, and my very poor elderly disabled parents would have been out over $1000 on thin air that they can ill afford. I called Fassbender and left two messages explaining what I mentioned above asking for my parents $175. be returned to them for the misdiagnoses, and my messages went unreturned. read more

The person that was suppose to come and fix our heater called Greg, he could not find my residence and went back to his town(Tehachapi), called me up all angry about how he could not find my home(like its our fault) and angry about how our phone was busy so he could not get a hold of me and then simply hang up on me when he finished his rant. Honestly this is the most childish and unprofessional behaviors I have ever encountered, yes we live in a rural area but today with google maps there is no excuse, you can plan ahead and print the route if you need to that is what I have done for years before GPS, you can see where our place is at online if you are not sure, also for some one who is on the road he should have a paper map in the car. He does not want to come back and now I have to find some one else. UPS and Fedex have no problem finding the place, because they plan ahead and carry maps with them. read more

Very late review, they installed a complete new system in winter of 2016. They removed all the existing metal duct-work from an old roof mounted swamp cooler which was above and beyond what they had contracted for. It had to be cut up inside the attic and pulled out through a hole in the roof. They had to make several additional sheet metal components to seal the existing floor under the unit and a new roof cover to seal the swamp cooler hole. They actually relocated the insulation in the attic, because the last owner was sloppy with the installation and helped locate some wiring (directions) that I needed to install a wall switch. They did the job in about 4 days, several trips to the shop and other jobs they were working simultaneously. I'm a retired JPL/NASA Engineer, so I was attempting to be critical of their work, and found it to be better than I expected. The system works incredibly well (small house) cools/heats in minutes to the set temperature. They programmed my WIFI thermostat for me and explained every aspect of the job before and after it was done. They were hard to contact on a few occasions but always answered my text messages after work hours. I suppose it's hard to work the phones when you're stuck in an attic... yea, sarcasm.... Good guys to deal with, work is very high quality and I do recommend them. read more

We called Fassbender & Sons during a very hot day in the summer when our air conditioning went out. Unlike most contractors in the Tehachapi area, his office was prompt in responding. We knew our air conditioner was shot and that we needed a new one. Greg, the owner, was able to get it running until the new A/C could be installed, without charging us anything extra. We had a family reunion planned at our house in 2 weeks and asked if he could install a new A/C unit by then. Greg explained all of our options in detail (without any high pressure tactics), then ordered the parts immediately. He was good to his word and installed the unit the following week. Greg did a lot of extra improvements that we were not charged for, including giving us a new thermostat, customizing a new drain pan under the existing furnace because the old one had been improperly installed, and installed a new drain pipe.
