I approached the man in the black apron, the one with the small gapped tooth and even smaller sense of professionalism, and asked a simple question: what could be done to clean my shoes? His answer--uncertain, uninterested, and lacking any skillful persuasion, was that he didn't know what would come out. No solutions, no confidence, no seduction of the sale. Just cold indifference. Then, without invitation, he launched into heel replacement prices for all four pairs. I never asked for heel replacements. I came for a shine. His response was not only tone-deaf, it was a clear attempt to shift the conversation into something I didn't ask for. Perhaps a poor strategy, or perhaps the result of someone who's lost their love for the craft. Either way, I didn't bite. When I questioned his approach, he snapped, "You don't have to leave your stuff here." I replied calmly, "I won't leave it here if you don't want me to." He waved me away like a nuisance and disappeared into the back. A man who holds no power, grasping at control in the weakest way possible. What truly sealed the impression was the woman at the front. She watched it unfold and did nothing. Inaction is a form of action. And her silence said everything I needed to know: my presence was unwelcome, and my business unwanted. Let this review be a quiet warning, not a loud complaint. Some places are simply not worthy of your time or money. Withdraw your presence. They will feel the loss more than your words. After the owner passed away, this place has gone terribly wrong. There are better places out there with affordable places where they would love you and your business.

So my shoes are Mauri, Belvedere, Mezlan, Fennix, Artioli (which is even more pricier, exclusive, and higher quality than what Bare Leather sells). Recently, I had two of my dog's harnesses adjusted by adding to the existing strap and trimming a strap on the other. Vicky listened and helped figure out what was needed to work. Now the harness fit my dog properly and can be adjusted over a sweater I put on her for walks on cold days. I also had my favorite small backpack that I've had for many years repaired and it's back like new! Over the years, I've had shoes and belts repaired, adjusted or preventive care work performed. Had a pair of boots that lost the grippy bit on the heel. They're not expensive but favorites so I…read morewasn't willing to toss them. Brought them by and the gentleman took them, and was super efficient and to the point about what I needed. Gave me a ticket and said they'd call me in a week. They called me in a week, gave me the total and they're great. I was a little surprised that they didn't use black since the rest of the bottom and what was lost was black but not enough to care. Those soles will be black soon enough after trudging through these streets. $18.50 (cash only!) for two heel replacements (he did the other one so that I wouldn't be lopsided) and I'm back walking the streets (uhhhhh, you know what I mean.) Caveat: the place smells of cigarette smoke so if you're very sensitive or allergic you may want to send someone for you. I don't think they smoke inside (it's not smoky) but the gentleman smokes so maybe it's just him? I can't say if my boots smelled when I got them back because they're leather and have been through worse.

I had to go three different days to try to pickup my one shoe that had a strap being fixed. It was promised to be ready in a Friday but was not ready until the next week on the Wednesday. All three times that I visited the store the owner did not open on time. She was a half hour late the first day, an hour late the other two days. Her excuse was that her husband died 4 months ago and she is not coming in early like he used to. Instead of changing the hours on the door and online she just comes when she pleases while multiple customers wait in the parking lot. I will never return.

I would strongly caution others before ordering from Torino Leather Company. I ordered a belt and…read morecard case on April 10 as a 25th anniversary gift for my husband. The original belt did arrive on time, but trying to exchange it for a different size has been nearly impossible. My anniversary was April 28, and I am still dealing with this exchange months later. The belt I returned was delivered back to the company on May 26. After multiple follow-ups, I was told on June 22 that the replacement belt was being shipped out that day. I even spoke with the owner on June 22, and the only resolution offered was a small discount on a future purchase, which is not helpful when I still do not have the item I already paid for. As of June 29, I still have not received the replacement belt or any tracking information. The most frustrating part has been the lack of clear communication and follow-through. I understand that exchanges can take time, but when a company confirms they received the return and then says the replacement is shipping, customers should not have to keep chasing updates. This was supposed to be a special anniversary gift, and instead the exchange process has turned into months of stress and follow-up. At this point, I would not feel comfortable ordering from this company again, and I would recommend that others be very careful before purchasing.
