I was there last Sunday for a pedicure, this is usually my preferred pedicure salon. I've been going there for a couple years now but the last couple of pedicures I've gotten have not been satisfactory I paid $60 for a #2 pedicure with shellac. (45 +15 for shellac like the paper said) That was fine, I paid with card but after she ran my card, she had my card and ran it for another $5. I have no clue why & she did not really speak English. Don't ever go here. I'm serious. I splurge on myself RARELY to get this service done, and the guy genuinely acted like I was inconveniencing him. And i've seen a bunch of other reviews obviously referring to this same guy. I wanted dip nails and I showed him what color I wanted on my phone- he didn't even look and then handed me a piece of cardboard with like 10 colors none of which were even close to mine. He just acted like sucks for you. Finally my mom asked a woman that worked there and she brought me the full color selection...he literally didn't want me to even have options. He just wanted to get it over with. Then i showed him a reference photo that was a short to mid length rounded square. He applied the tips and they were LITERALLY AN INCH OFF MY NAIL. THIS IS A BREEDING GROUND FOR FUNGAL INFECTION AND BACTERIA- NOT TO MENTION THESE NAILS ONLY LASTED LIKE A WEEK BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT EVER EVEN ATTACHED. I asked him to redo the tip before he even started putting dip on- and he brushed me off and said he would fix it later. He gave me CLAWS with harsh square and i work in a medical lab with gloves i can't even have that. I asked if he was going to cut them or fix them and he blew me off saying they're not done yet. Finally my mom came over and was like ????? those are too long and sharp for you. And i was like "i tried to tell him...yeah can you please round these out and cut them shorter "He got an attitude and acted like i had randomly changed my mind. He did what I asked but by this time i forgot and was so stressed i didn't even realize i still had huge gaps between all the tips. This is absolutely unacceptable. I have been a customer for many years and up until the past 6 months, I have had consist terrible service. Every time I get shellac on my nails, the polish either chips or peels off within 7 days. Recently, I had my eyebrows waxed and that same night I had an infection in both of my eye lids. Today I decided to give this place one last chance. I asked for a manicure and pedicure. If the photos don't provide enough evidence of how much of a hack job they did, then I don't know what to tell you. I am beyond furious and will not ever spend another dime at this salon. I come here all the time and usually get the men because they're a lot nicer, and the lady I usually get wasn't there. I called ahead and told them I have 6 coming around 1 We get in and we're helped right away and this lady came up to me and was pushing me to pick a color. I told her I wanted to pick a color for my shellac nails first before I pick my toes. She kept rushing me to pick and she ended up picking the color for me-i clearly took too long. I finally picked a color for my toes and wish I had them on my nails instead of the color she picked for me. I sit down for my pedi and she was rushing my toes and polish. My sister who sat across from my wanted to use the polish I had, so I slowly walked it over to her and my toe rubbed on my big toe so I asked her to fix it. PISSED OFF LOOK then told me to be careful and fixed it. Started my mani. Again, rushing-she made me bleed. All I got was "oops" once she started the shellac she didn't let my left hand finish through the light all the way so when she went to go wipe it the cotton ball got stuck and she blamed me! "Oh. You messed it up when you had your hand in there" -"I didn't do anything? The polish wasn't even dried yet?" This was thee WORST experience I have had in about 10 years of getting my nails done. I made an appointment here by accident, I thought I had made an appointment at their location on Grosse Pointe. I get to my appointment late because I went to the wrong location, I called to let me know of the mix up and that I was on my way. They said no problem. I get there and I wait about 10 minutes, pick out my color, no big deal. My nails are fairly long so I ask if they can be shaped into coffin (they're square) the lady says yes. She starts filing my middle finger on my left hand and it seems like she's filing very heavy on my side of it. When she's done with the nail I ask her to stop so I can look at it. She's completely filed one side of my nail off. Like the left side of the nail is gone! I tell her that I am NOT happy with that nail and I need her to start over or whatever she has to do to fix it. SHE SAYS SHE CANT. That my finger is too crooked and she can't add more powder because it won't stick. EXCUSE ME. I lift up my right hand and I say - these nails are fine and this finger is just as "crooked". NOT TO MENTION THESE ARE THE THINNEST NAILS, BRITTLE and when I asked her to thicken them the answer was no. She said there was nothing she can do. I PAY $30 for these hideous nails and I leave. I Go back to the first salon I thought I made me appointment at to ask if they can please help me. They say sure, I sit down and the lady comes over looks at my nails and says they're BEYOND REPAIR! I have good experience with the tech cleaning my cuticle for mani and pedi service and my shellac would last for good 18 days. I gave them 2 stars bec of poor customer service and poor communication whenever I would come to have Shellac taken off . One time , I get different tech to do the soak off without telling me why I get moved from person to another considering I've been a regular there. This happened to me 3x. One nail tech started with me but then I realized there was arguing (in Vietnamese I assume) between my tech and another tech which escalated into 4 techs getting involved. I didn't know what they were saying but could tell it was heated. Then my tech asked me to move to another chair with a different tech. The new tech didn't utter one word to me and one of the other techs involved came up to me and said it wasn't me but they were suppose to take turns who gets the next customer. It made me very uncomfortable. I paid my bill, did not leave a tip, and will never return. read more

I've been there once and that's it. The lady who assigned to do my nail was so pushy and wanted me to make decisions for color quickly. I couldn't do it fast, because they seated me before I choose any color. What happened was as soon as I got into the shop and directly was seated. Then they ask what I wanna do. I wanted shellac. They brought samples and I had to look through the it with my one hand because they just started cutting my nail. They don't wait. I couldn't pay attention much what she did as I was looking through samples. When I came home, I noticed that she didn't even bother to grab a cuticle remover. I visited AJ nails in Grosse Pointe and I wasn't happy with the service. I had shellac polish on my nails, and had come in to Have a manicure. The owner of the place proceeded to remove polish using the remover and foil, which I am use to. The polish didn't come off readily so she began pry it off with a metal instrument which I told her not to, so she continued reapply polish remover and foil and wait, after about 30 minutes or so the Polish was off. After finishing the manicure I was told it would be $21 dollars, she followed with there is $5 charge to remove the shellac! So,a BASIC manicure cost $16 where every other similar salon I have gone to charges $12 and don't charge extra for removing shellac. Another customer ask the tech why the prices where so higher than there store in st. Clair shores, she replied "are rent is higher" in Grosse pointe. I would not have gotten service at the salon had I known a mani was$16 and an extra charge for remove shellac, which I ave been wearing for many years and have never be charged to remove it. None of the prices are posted. Also, the bathroom were dirty, which I told the receptionist and she didn't leave the desk the whole time I was there to to check the bathroom or clean it. I have tried 2 AJ Nails (GP and SCS). Both are consistently bad! I have given them a couple of tries. Rude staff, rushed and incompetent. Nails damaged from their rough treatment (removal of gel polish). Polish lasting less than 24 hours. I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the ball.
