The staff is extremely knowledgeable and always checking in to help people out. I came here for multiple home projects, including building a terrarium, and she helped me find everything I needed. They also sell potting soil and other basic landscaping supplies, which is really convenient. Great selection of plants and flowers off of Grey road! Parking is well marked and right off the business center. I was specifically looking for a snake plant which I ended up purchasing. It was pricey but the plant looked healthy and happy. They also had out of season flower bulbs on sale at the front. I'll definitely be back! read more

A wide selection and lots of variety. They have cacti, flowers, and carnivorous plants and many others. Many varieties seem to rotate in and out depending on the season. This is the greenhouse I go to when I want to find a plant that I didn't know I needed. It is a joy just to stroll along the rows of plants breathing in the humid, but fresh and fragrant air. The can get a little pricey, but the staff is quite helpful and often knowledgeable regarding their products. Plant care instructions could be clearer and while I don't have the greenest of thumbs I have had a few plants that didn't make it and I'm not always certain I know why. read more

So happy to have visited this greenhouse!! It was filled to the brim with flowers and plants of all types. The prices are pretty reasonable for plants, they also have all the potting supplies. Half the time I enjoy going to greenhouses just for the atmosphere and not to buy. I did get the pink English Daisies which I did in fact kill, but it's probably because I didn't ever repot them, oops. Would have loved to have a bit more instruction on how to care for them. There is always a great selection of plants and shrubs here. We came to get a Christmas tree this season and the Frasier Pines are plump and soft. Their prices can be higher than surrounding plant stores, but they offer a wider selection and the staff tend to be knowledgeable about care. I do really like this place, but I wish the service was a little more direct. We don't go all that often and the checkout area/process is different every time. Sometimes you carry your plants to a table, other times it is to the checkout counter, still other times they give you a carry box. I am fine with whatever option they provide, but it always feels like I am surprising them by coming to the checkout and then, after an awkward pause, I say...I'm ready, where would you like me? I don't work there, so it would be nice to have a cashier take the lead on that. Still, it is a great place to purchase flowers, trees, and plants of all sizes. read more

From perennials to annuals and shrubs to the best variations of Roses. They have a little bit of something for everyone! Must visit at least once! Just tucked right behind Spring Grove Cemetery. Take all of my money, AJ Rahn! My thumb has been turning ever so slightly greener over the past couple months. I still feel like I have no idea what I'm doing, which made AJ Rahn a bit of an intimidating experience (holy cow, this place is huge). When we reached the back of the first greenhouse and I saw that there was a whole other greenhouse to explore I was blown away. There were SO many plants, all looking super healthy and beautiful. I hope I can keep mine looking equally as great as they were at AJ Rahn! I especially loved the roses (which were outdoors in between the greenhouses. I had never seen roses so big and beautiful (and their strong smell was divine). It was quite muggy inside and coupled with wearing a mask, you may end up a little sweaty. It also did take about ten minutes to check out (as the line was a bit long for the register). The staff were all super friendly and helpful. I had a great time exploring all the beautiful greenery. I was looking for a nursery that sold exotic/rare/succulent indoor plants. Did my research online and found AJ Rahn Greenhouse. They've been established for 130 years with great reviews. Looked at the pictures of their plants/flowers on Yelp and was sold. My Mr and I wanted to check it out right away. They are located near Spring Grove Cemetery between Winston rd. When we got there I couldn't believe how big this greenhouse is! I was like a kid in a candy store. They had a section for outdoor and indoor plants. Quite frankly I was a little overwhelmed but in a good way. I found the plants that I was looking for. Mostly succulents which they had a good selection. They all looked healthy and you can tell the staff took great of them. I ended up spending $50.00 (5 rare/unique plants)which was cheap for everything I got included a ceramic pot. Their pricing is definitely reasonable. I would've spent more but my Mr had to stop me due to space in our home. The staff is ready to help if you need assistance and they do take extra safety precautions on the social distancing ringing you up. I am so glad I visited AJ Rahn. This won't be my last time and highly recommend this greenhouse. read more

AJ Rahn always seems to have what I'm looking for whether it's perineal flowers/plants/trees/herbs, soil or planters. This is the only greenhouse/flower place that I've been able to find Vincas over the past two years. I learned today that they grow their own plants and do not ship them in. This makes total sense because their mums were outrageously beautiful. My goal today was to find items for re-potting orchids. Goal achieved plus one of the staff is a bit of an orchid expert and gave me some valuable tips. Very friendly staff! Don't forget to say hi to the greenhouse cat if you stop by. read more

Update: I keep going back because the selection of houseplants is so great. Rude lady isn't always there. Each time I do see her though, she is just so unpleasant. I saw the rude lady today. As I was walking in, a black guy was exiting and she was glaring at him and then at me. All the other ladies and Michael is so nice and helpful. What is her deal? Seems like people of color are the ones with the horrible experience. Original: The selection of house plants is good, but one of the ladies who works there, probably the owner, is difficult to interact with. She's not exactly customer forward or even friendly. She's a pain in the a$$ to deal with. I spent almost $200 there. After checking out, I came across clay pots that I missed earlier, they're in a part of the store that feels disconnected from the rest, to the right of the entrance. I wanted to return the pots that I had purchased (they didn't have holes and we would have to drill into them) and get the terra cotta ones. She then returned everything on our bill, like twenty something items, and then rang everything up again with the new pots. After running my card again, she handed it to her daughter to hand back to me. I was standing right in front of her. She also spoke under her breath about me. It was an awkward and stressful situation. Maybe she should work in the office, because she's a customer deterrent. They should really figure out their antiquated POS system and not be such jerks. I'm not asking for the red carpet, but a little respect would be appreciated. I go to Reading Seed and Feed now. The selection of house plants is not as good, but the people are nice and they have a great selection of indoor and outdoor plants and vegetables. I'm impressed by their pepper selection; it's not as great as Funke's, but pretty all around good selection of almost all of your arborist needs. read more

I feel as though I've grown up buying plants at Rahn's. My first tomato plants to Fall mums were from here. The plant selection any time of year is amazing. However for me living out of town, I return every holiday season to buy cyclamen and amaryllis for family. Their selection of cyclamen rivals any I've seen on the West Coast. The service level generation to generation is top notch. The friendly information they offer to all on making your plants thrive is hard to beat. There is no way for a mom and her baby to shop here because they do not have carts for children to sit in. Very disappointing to not have a way for families to shop. Had to leave and go to a different garden center just because I couldn't carry my baby and pick up plants I wanted. And a stroller would have been to small to fit all the plants I would have potentially bought if I did have a reasonable cart. read more

I can't believe I haven't been here before. The place is beautiful!! Filled with all sort of plants and gardening tools. If you want to start taking care of plants, or if you want to add to your collection, this is the place to go. The best part is that the people who work here are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Prices and plant names are always well displayed. They have an in-house bird, Ronan, and kitty. In the springtime they have an ASTOUNDING array of beautiful roses to choose from. They have small succulents and other miniature-sized plants that are great for your desk at work. They have upped their pot selection big time! They now seem to carry a lot of trendy clay pots, but still have the classic terra cotta selection with lots of matching drip trays. Variety of specific soils and plant supplements. I want to like Rahn's. So many of my neighbors do. If you want houseplants, floral gifts, or bedding plants, you likely will be pleased. But when I go for garden supplies, they manage to disappoint me. Today, I went for mulch. The person at the register, who also accompanied me outside, without distancing, was NOT wearing a mask. I was. After I paid for 12 bags of mulch, she said she hoped I could load it on my own because she was not allowed to help, because of COVID. (In truth, even before COVID, the staff was reluctant to help me out, despite my arthritic wrists.) But my main disappointment was that the staff was not masked, when Hamilton County was reporting record COVID infections. read more

This was one of the most well kept, beautiful greenhouses I've ever been to. My boyfriend pointed out that there was not a single wilted, yellow, brown, or dead leaf in the whole place. I was in the market for some houseplants and they had an incredible variety of plants as well as many in different stages of the growing process at a wide range of prices. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful when I asked for tips and watering instructions. Recently stopped in here for a few veggie plants and herbs to plant in my back porch container garden. Unfortunately the herb selection was a little whackadoodle -- I got the one last basil plant left, and there was no regular spearmint, oregano or other "typical herbs." That said, almost everything I purchased has been thriving well since transplanting. The pepper plants I bought are almost disturbingly fertile, putting out an astonishing number of pepper babies! A greenhouse is a very unlikely place to find me. I don't like flowers. And, up until last year, I had zero interest in gardening. Growing up, my dad was a HUGE gardener. But I kind of hate dirt, and nature, and heat...and I seemed to kill every plant I ever touched. Then, we moved into a house, with a yard and two amazing raised garden beds. And I just felt guilty letting them go to waste. So after looking around at home depot and such, I ended up here. It really is a hidden gem, considering it's just on the other side of the cemetery from my house! Basically, I credit this place with all my gardening success. There's plenty of varieties and plenty of info on each one. Expect tons of choice for starter plants especially for tomatoes and peppers. And every...single...plant...is insanely healthy. Going to greenhouses as a kid, my mother meticulously looked for the "best" plant. And while I still do that, there isn't much to compare. Every plant looks super healthy and ready to go. And the results don't lie. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and all of my plants grew like weeds! So much so that I've doubled the size of my garden for this year and already made 2 trips to the greenhouse. Who knew gardening could actually be fun? Because, seriously, I had no idea. read more
