We purchased 8 skip laurels about 2.5 years ago after being assured they were evergreen/fast growing and a good fit for our property. We also paid a significant fee--50% of the plant cost--for delivery and installation, bringing our total investment to over $2,500. Unfortunately, the plants never thrived. They turned yellow during both summer and winter and showed little to no growth. Over time, they have all died. I recently reached out to the nursery to discuss replacing them with arborvitae (at our expense) and asked if they would consider offering a discount on removal and installation. I was disappointed to be told, "there is nothing we can do." Given the outcome and lack of support, this was a frustrating experience, and we won't be returning as customers. read more

Natorps, Berns, and Bloomin Garden Center would all be superior landscape options. Today I visited to speak with the owner, Tony, about an $861.33 tree installation Sharon Nursery did for me on June 29, 2018. Following a June 13, 2019 visit during which I spoke to one of his staff because he was not present, I sent Tony a June 16, 2019 email (along with photos) at the suggestion Laura, one of the Nursery employees. Not receiving a reply, I sent a second email on June 22, 2019. The reason for my June 13 visit along with the subsequent emails was that the tree was planted directly on an irrigation line that was broken in the planting process. I would have expected the Sharon Nursery crew to inform me of this at the time; in addition perhaps an extended warranty on the tree might be in order. In fact, Laura suggested this would be the least they could do. After all, the cost to repair to the irrigation system was circa $200. Upon with speaking with Tony, following is what I heard: -He had read my email, but chosen not to acknowledge or reply -Sharon Nursery has many employees, he can't be responsible for them (if not the owner, then who?) -They couldn't have broken the pipe with a shovel (had he read my email and checked the order, he would have seen they used a bobcat) -My value as a customer is immaterial to Sharon Nursery -Too bad he is not as "perfect as me" My primary complaint was the owner would not take the time to reply to me. That sets the tone for the entire operation. read more

I wouldn't go anywhere else for plants. They are so friendly. And extremely knowledgeable. Will take the time to give you many suggestions and alternatives. Will be honest if they think something will or won't grow, regardless of whether it would make them a buck. You can even bring in pictures and they will walk around and help you pick out things they know will work and look good. You definitely get your moneys worth when shopping with them. I've used Sharon Nursery on two occasions, first to landscape the front of my home and after a good experience there, for the backyard. We like their designs and are happy with the overall result for the price but will no longer use them or recommend them after some of the customer service issues with the backyard. We had contacted SN in the spring of 2012 and quickly got a design and estimate on landscaping the backyard for which we made a down payment on. We didn't get the landscaping done until early November. To be fair they originally wanted to do it on a week we were on vacation and we declined. We didn't bug them every week as we were not in a hurry and decided to put a fence in the meantime which changed things around. If you're in more of a hurry be prepared to keep bugging them until the job's done. We also had an issue with being charged for materials that weren't used and some difficulty in getting them to adjust the price of the invoice. Our design called for stone wall for a few small retaining walls. I had noticed that the landscapers didn't bring out as much as we had ordered (over two pallets) and even then put some back on their truck. I complained about it and got a "we'll look into it" email and after a wait, no reply. Finally I made some measurements and realized that the height of the retaining walls were not as high as the designed originally specified. Armed with this, I was able to convince them to refund some of the price I paid but even then I think I was still overcharged a little bit for stones not used. I say this by my estimates of weighing one wall stone and then estimate how much all of them would weigh. If that's not enough. After we finally paid, SN held our $2000 check for about a month before cashing it. That's nerve wrecking having to always make sure you have enough cash in the checking account knowing the check could clear any day. I don't regret working with them but next I think we'll try someplace else. read more

Went here with my Dad in order to help him buy some plants for his patio. This nursery is very nice, although it is a bit "suburban" -- lots of unassuming and non-showy flowers, plants, and shrubs. Their succulent selection was really sad, and their herb/vegetable selection was pretty limited. I thought the prices were a little steep -- $35 for a planter and $4 for herbs, really? They did have a pretty cool selection of coleus, including one that was pretty psychedelic. Staff are very nice and helpful. read more

I just visited Sharon Nursery for the second time since buying my house two months ago. I went to see about some trees for my yard, not knowing exactly what I wanted. Nick offered to take me to the one tree I had asked about and ended up spending a good chunk of an hour showing me all the different trees that may have worked for me. I am also employed in a customer service driven establishment and can really appreciate his knowledge of the different trees and his willingness to help me in any way he could. I didn't end up making a purchase today because I still have prep work to do but Nick gave me some great ideas and I will be back, for sure! read more

Truth is stranger than fiction. I have done business with Sharon Nursery for several years, mostly purchasing the Fertilome 3 step fertilizer program. I pay for it in the spring, and only take one application at a time, which is 16 bags for my 80,000 square foot ($900 program) lawn. Somehow, and this is my fault, I paid twice in 2015. I discovered my error this year, 2016, when I went to pick-up my second application. I brought it to their attention and after a lot of convincing, they were willing to let me recoup the $900 in trade and over time. This is where things get really bad... I am a busy person to begin with, but I broke my back in September. The injury slowed me down quite a bit - for obvious reasons - and I haven't had a chance to get my third step. I had time today so I called to see if they were open and luckily, they were. When I got to the store and gave the young lady my receipt, she stated, "You've already picked-up steps 2 and 3, and this is my handwriting." I couldn't believe it! I ABSOLUTELY did not pick-up step 3, and unfortunately, paid no attention to what was written on the receipt at the time. I have NEVER taken more than one step of the program... THAT'S THE WHOLE PURPOSE OF PAYING BEFORE HAND AND GETTING IT WHEN I NEED IT! Tony, the owner that I have been dealing with, was there and when I told him the story, he came unglued and told me not to come back. He gave me 8 bags, not the 16 that I paid for, and called me a liar. Here's what Tony does not know 1) I am DEFINITELY not a liar, and 2) I am well-off financially and have no need to cheat him or his store, and 3) He has been unjustly enriched by over $1000 of my money. I don't dress like a wealthy man and I drive an old pickup, so that may be the reason why he thinks that I am trying to cheat him. I made two mistakes, paying twice in 2015 and NOT paying attention when their employee marked my receipt this year - SHE SCREWED UP! I understand Tony's point, but they get one star for calling me a liar. Be sure to pay attention to everything if you do business with them. I have no recourse, as I don't think that I would win in a small claims court. I will just take my business back to Bloomin' Garden Center. read more

In April we contacted Sharon Nursery to come out and give us an estimate for new front landscaping. After several weeks we had not heard from them at all, so I called and spoke to Mike, the person who had come out to our home and was creating our design. Mike got my email address and said he would email me the plans right away. I never got the email. We stopped by about 10 days later on a Sunday, but no one in the landscaping dept. was there, so they told us to call. I called today and spoke to Mike again. This time I was annoyed at being put off. Instead he said, he realized people are in bad moods due to the extreme heat, but this was an honest mistake. I explained my "mood" had zero to do with the heat and was due to the poor customer service we were receiving. He said I could give him my email address again right away, and I did. When I was finished he hung up on me. No goodbye, thank you, nothing, just hung up the phone. It's been an hour, still no email from Mike. I give up. They must have all the business they need. read more

I was not happy with the service. I've called 5 times in the last few months and I get the same answer, "we'll send someon out to take a look at it". They suggested a tree for me and this year someone else said the tree I have isn't the appropriate tree for the area. When I said they suggested the tree one of the owners told me I'll get 10 different answers from 10 different people. The staff and owners don't know plants. I will now shop where someone actually knows plants and gardening. There's a reason why Delhi & Natorps have been in business for decades. read more
