I had the best massage I've had in anchorage here. I could have sworn she said her name was yaya…read morebut after checking reviews maybe it was Anna. Anyway I got a 60m massage with hot stones+towels and back walking and she was very thorough to focus on nerves and pressure points. I have a really bad back and she found all the knots and worked on them without causing immense pain(we've all had a massage where you suffer in silence a bit I think haha). She did not ask me to prepay and also didn't have me add a tip automatically(I offered $20 on my own anyhow). I only note that because I saw a lot of other reviews stating otherwise but that wasn't my experience. Anywho I'll be back!

She was in a hurry because she said she didn't have lunch, and also because she had an appointment. (We arrived at p minutes before our appointment) then she charged us before the massage and then she added a tip of $10 per person..I mean...I always tip AFTER the service but this was mandatory...at this point I had to stay with my daughter in the room; because with her attitude I didn't know what to expect. It was so sad to see my daughter's face. I didn't have the massage.

She did a medical massage where she really tried to release the muscles around the knot and with my chronic headaches, it really worked! She tells you what she's doing and always checks in re the pressure and the pain. I don't need the fancy spa type massages, I would way prefer this. And $90 for 90 minutes is quite the deal! She was very accommodating with my time schedule. Location: In the small building called "The salon" with parking outside. Price: $60 for 60 min, $90 for 90 minutes. She only takes cash just FYI.

I first contacted Affordable Massage Therapy (Tammy) on December 11 and over the next several weeks had multiple appointments scheduled, confirmed, and then canceled by her. Appointments were changed, rescheduled, or canceled at short notice due to scheduling mistakes, family emergencies, and illness. At one point, she stated she deletes all text messages, which made it difficult to keep any continuity in scheduling. In total, my appointment was canceled three separate times by the provider, including once just hours before a scheduled session. During this process, her rates also increased significantly compared to when I originally booked. After the last cancellation, I looked more closely at her reviews and noticed a consistent pattern in the one-star google reviews describing the same issues -- frequent cancellations and lack of reliability. While she does have positive reviews, it seems those experiences depend heavily on actually being able to keep an appointment. If reliability and respect for your time are important to you, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. For what it's worth, when my appointment was canceled yet again, I was able to book last-minute with Chris at Root Massage, who provided the best massage I've had in Anchorage. The difference in professionalism and consistency was night and day.

My first time trying one was in Vegas and oh how it bought me back to life for my daughter's wedding. It's easy to book an appointment on line, but you can also walk in. I always book an appointment just in case. It's clean, they offer drinks and snacks while you hydrate and that's a plus for me. I love a good snack and a protein one of nuts that they offer, yes please. The nurses are so nice and gentle, never had a bad experience here. The front desk lady always smiles and has all the answers to your questions. All in all get value for your buck to stay hydrated if you were out drinking the night before or just a bariatric patient needed some extra fluids.

Here is the odd part that I find disheartening: Not a single follow up call or text. Not even a "Do you want to schedule again?" I know the workers don't own the business, so they have little vested interest in return clients, but it was such a simple gesture that got missed. I am on their email list, which reminded me of them (and to write a review). But not a single other piece of personal communication beyond that email. Sadly, I felt no noticeable difference after the treatment. Maybe I needed a series of treatments. But that discussion never happened either.
