I got a tip on River Road Flea Market from an acquaintance, who became an acquaintance because I was asking about where to get furniture. Of all the stores and spots she recommended, this was my favorite and definitely the best. It was a little difficult to find because their address online says the city's name is Jefferson and my GPS only recognizes Jefferson as a parish. Now I know it's in New Orleans city, and not all the far away at all. It's located literally right by the river, separated by a grassy bank and the levee. The building is HUGE. It's like a warehouse divided into little rooms, all of which are decorated with amazing antiques and thrifty finds for a fairly reasonable price (about 125 for a desk-sized table, 150 for a wardrobe or dresser). It's not the cheapest spot, but the quality of the merchandise makes up for it. They get most of their merchandise from estate sales, apparently, and the eclectic collection certainly reflects that. Several of the rooms are themed: jewelry, records, children's furniture and toys (there was an amazing vintage rocking chair that I would buy just to anticipate having children... except I'm not), books, etc. Outside in a small gated area, they sell specialty Mexican pottery, most of which is large and would be appropriate for a yard, and wrought iron benches and trellises. I purchased a vintage bracelet for $5, and I can't wait to go back and actually purchase furniture, once I'm moved in! The furniture is beautiful! All handmade and out of recycled cypress (mostly). I've ogled at the…read morepieces for years with lust in my heart. And on Saturday I finally bought one! I am now the proud owner of a gorgeous coffee table. Since it is vintage wood, it isn't "perfect" and that's probably for the best with me around. Bonus that they were having a huge inventory sale so that made my decision that much easier. Plus they do custom work if you have the patience to wait. Store hours are roughly 11-5 (Tuesday through Saturday, I think). But allow a little leeway on either side. Really helpful, friendly staff who are not pushy at all.

Home decor galore!…read more This would be the first place I would stop if I had one of those trendy Garden District shotguns and I had the money to decorate it however I wanted. All of the items here seem to be vintage inspired, and that's right up my alley. I love the bright colors and I love that the first room you see when you walk in is decorated to look like a cozy living room- it really gives you an idea of what YOUR space could look like. My favorites were the gorgeous antique chairs that were finished with beautiful pops of color. They also have smaller items, just in case you don't have the nerve to pull the trigger on a large piece of furniture. The woman working was very friendly and I liked that there was a lot packed into the space.

She made custom cushions for our dining room chairs with fabric she sourced for us. We get tons of compliments on them. I left with a denim skirt that was $5 and some change. I really enjoy their mission and would rather support here than goodwill. They have A LOT of dishes, other housewares, luggage, gowns, and clothes. I wouldn't say there was much home wall decor though which I'm always on the hunt for. The prices are there with goodwill, however some items were definitely overpriced. As for the store itself, It is very cluttered as others have said. I also noticed a lot of the items were just piled on top of each other so it's very hard to dig through the items without throwing stuff around. There are also no fitting rooms but I was able to try stuff on in the bathroom but I'm not sure if that's a regular thing for customers. I think this shop has a lot of potential but they should consider a larger space / being more choosy with some of their inventory. I will definitely return because the staff was friendly and I like their mission.
