This is one of the only shops in the city that sells Wild Harvest herbs, a brand I rely on, so I was exceedingly pleased to discover them there yesterday. They have a lot of other goodies as well, to suit a variety of needs. Teas, prayer candles, incense, kratom, goofer dust, whatever the heart desires. This store is packed full of items to help with your health. We stopped in to look at the Delta 8 and CBD offerings (they have a wide selection), and the staff was super helpful with all of the different products. I had my dog in the car when I decided to stop by, and they were nice enough to let me bring him in (but, I wouldn't recommend it - there are many highly scented items in the store and your dog will drive you nuts trying to smell everything). This is about as alternative as you can find in the greater New Orleans area. The parking is all street parking in this area, but as most of the neighbors are cemeteries, its not too difficult to find a spot. It is right next to a coffee shop which is cool. They have a variety of incense, essential oils, lotions, hemp and CBD items. I was looking for something for my younger sister who is a bit on the earthy side, and I was able to find some incense for her to use while she was in town, which was perfection. They do have bundles of sage if you are into smudging your house of the evil spirits lurking around the corner. This shop has quite a bit of inventory and I think the customer service was beyond reproach. I look forward to coming by next time there is a need that arises. There are so many neat candles and the whole place just smells so good! Bonus points for being on the street car line to make it accessible for those who need a ride out here! read more

Back in my Sublime-hoodie-wearing, joint-tokin', cruise-around-the neighborhood-because-I-had-nothing-better to do days--a good head shop was my jam. These days, with a straight laced 9-5 job and a recreational habit that has turned into anxiety attacks, I don't spend much time perusing apparati for legal use or incense much anymore. However, I had a special mission recently and knew of only one place I wanted to spend my money. I was buying a birthday gift for someone and I wanted to surprise them with a new pipe, for tobacco use only of course. The area in which to peruse these wares require picture ID and a certain amount of decorum and etiquette. I was looking for something that channeled the Saints, something black and gold with a fleur de lis? The woman behind the counter was extremely helpful by pointing out a few pieces made locally that just so happen to have Fleur de Lis' on them. She said they typically have Saints themed pieces. (They were out of them at the time of this visit.) I selected a very gold, very iridescent accessory and I was happy with the price point. (Approx $40) After that purchase, I shopped around the rest of the store as I find much satisfaction in prayer candles, oils, incense and general wellness products. I made a few notes to return for candles as they do have the traditional tapers in various colors that will come in handy for Halloween. If you like to build altars around that time of year also, they have lots of small knick-knacks that would make for a great altar for Day of the Dead also. I'll definitely be back and reccommend them to anyone that was looking for quality, locally made tobacco accessories and gifts. read more

I love the scent of incense. I'm thoroughly addicted to all good smells. I *need* everything to smell good or my mood gets dour. Herb Imports specializes in good smells! They sell incense matches. How cool is that? They are crazy cheap and come in a variety of scents, flower to spice. Nag Champa is cheaper here than your local yoga joint or, heaven forbid, Whole Foods. And hey, if you're looking to sage your house (I love using sage as a verb), look no further. Interesting aerosol cleansing sprays with saints on them (actual saint statues for your car, too). And vitamins. And supplements. Hrm. I don't even know how to classify Herb Imports. It's a head shop. It's a sex shop. It's a botanica. It's a convenience store (they have snacks!) They sell it all, from sin to saints and it's attached to my favorite zombie coffee shop in the city. read more

I have been on the hunt for organic soap for a while now, so when someone suggest I check out the Herb Import company, I was a bit confused. I thought this place only sold incense and essential oils. I had no idea that there is so much more to this shop! Not only was I able to find my amazing organic soap, but they had it in all kinds of yummy scents and it didn't break the bank. This shop also carries a wide variety of things such as Saints you can display in your car (holy Saints, not NFL Saints), assorted vitamins and supplements, organic teas, "good luck" candles and interesting gifts that are perfect for the more spiritual person in your life. The vape pen we got earlier this month gave us some trouble within a week of the purchase, and the folks who manage the warranty (once we got a hold of them after weeks of trying) were not very big on customer service. I was pretty frustrated and wrote a review on here expressing my disappointment. At the time, the people we talked to at the Herb Import Company had offered no help with the situation. However, I was soon contacted by Den-A, who asked that I reach out to him. Upon getting in contact with him, we returned to the store and the staff more than accommodated us. JJ (I don't know how it's written) was super helpful. We now know that the warranty is pretty crappy for this particular product, but that is good to know, so we can be more ready (as in not expect much from the warranty) if we have any other issues with the pen. ZERO STARS!!! This place sells the Ultra-PureWhip brand whip cream chargers. For whatever reason this was an inferior product compared to the Best Whip brand chargers I had at my party. When I went to complain the snarky employee would not exchange nor refund my purchase. Store policy aside, I find it alarming that any reputable business would not stand behind the products they sell. I spent over $70 and it's not like this is some sort of scam I pull on unsuspecting "head" shops! What are the chances that you folks received a bad batch from the manufacturer? I throw this party 6 times a year and had always purchased my party favors from Herb Import. I will never shop here again and I recommend that people shop instead at their competitors' "head" shops (Like the Ra Shop.) Shame on you Herb Import! You suck! read more

I always enjoy stopping by this place. Lots of real good and smell good things. A Very nice room/selection of glassware, If you're 420 fan. However, I was Disappointed in my last visit as I called ahead, (After calling about eight other places) during a frenzied search for a last minute, Very specific (vegan/soy-free) Specialty ingredient and was told, with certainty, that they carried it. I hurried over in rush-hour traffic. Upon my arrival I came to find out that all they only had the basic soy-based version. When I spoke with the guy in person, he pointed out the canister, almost as if were a dim-wit, Then when I specified the difference of that and what I asked for on the phone, he proceeded to show his lack of knowledge in these products. I was trying to meet a deadline and was extremely flustered that I had wasted the time when I could've been trying other places. My suggestion would be know your products and pay attention to what your customers are asking you Before you jump to say yes we have it. read more

Based upon considerable empirical evidence, I can now firmly assert that The Herb does not subscribe to the notion that the customer is always right. In fact, it seems quite the contrary. Never was I made to feel like such an annoyance as I was simply trying to purchase a new piece of glass. This isn't rocket science, but unfortunately, exchanging coin for glass is far too complicated for the likes of this establishment. I was initially suckered into visiting The Herb after seeing an advertisement on The Herb's actual Yelp page that read verbatim "mention yelp for 20 percent off your purchase." "Sweet!" I thought. Easy enough, right? WRONG. Enter false advertisement, stage right. So I present said advertisement to "Job," the super friendly and helpful sales associate. *Note sarcasm* "Job" was sporting quite the 'tude as he acted like I was putting him out by presenting my wee little 20 percent off screen shot. He then proceeds to assert that I need to "check in" in order to claim my 20 percent off. "I don't have a social media account to check in with, and besides, the ad never mentioned the stipulation of needing to check in." By this point, a gaggle of other customers had moved in. Job pretty much flashes me a look like, "Tough nuggets." and shifts his focus to the other customers. Thanks, Job. You're a real pal. read more

We stopped in here to try to get coffee next door after visiting the Oddfellows Cemetery which is behind the Herb Company. I needed some some of migraine relief meds before hopping on our plane back to LA. The gentlemen who helped was not only friendly but very helpful and looked up several medicines based on my symptoms before we decided on a product. They have a fully stocked store that can supply remedies for most maladies. I didn't feel that this place had generic Walmart herbs as said by another reviewer. Walmart doesn't carry most tinctures or bulk product items. Give it a try when you're in the area and don't forget to check out the cemetery for your fraternal order fix!! read more

During a walk ab out last night I stopped in the new location with a friend to check things out. I walked in and immediately exclaimed "I love that smell!" And as you give me that same look my friend gave me, no, it is not the pungent smell of weed wafting in on the night breezes but the heady scent of natural herbs and oils used for healing that so permeated my youth in the mountains. It smells like every herbal health food I've ever walked into since I was a kid. I love that smell! I also love the new venue and am a bit sad actually that they will be moving to the old location up the street (as soon as this Monday the clerk told me), but I'm sure there are many reasons for that.... like not paying rent.... or having customers that would rather not be seen going into such a "novelty" shop. I rather enjoy the great corner windows though and the clarity of display they have going on for the herbals and food supplements (I can't even tell you how happy I am to know that they now carru bragg's... now I don't have to pay the internet, but get to pay a local store!). So back they go, there's no telling though what the new interior will look like at the old shop... I might just be thrilled. They have great supplements by the way, plenty in both leaf and distilled form to add or make your own teas. Also, the occult section was easy to navigate and the candles were much cheaper than anywhere else. I was able to get a candle and smug stick for a friend's housewarming for $7.00. If I would have allowed myself I'm sure I could have spent much more. It's nice to know I can walk down the street and get a hint of that herbal smell anytime I might feel a little hippie homesicknesses. read more

I went into this establishment yesterday, called ahead to make sure it was ok I came in with my whole party (3 ppl, one dog) they said it was ok. Then upon entrance they told me my friend and her dog had to wait outside as only two people are allowed in back(even tho I called and confirmed) and while my partner and I were looking for pieces, a birthday piece for myself, I kept hearing the front guy calling over walkie talkie saying that there was a line outside and we needed to hurry up. The first time I was like ok no big deal, but it was 2 min later he called back over and said the same thing. Like I wasn't there to just grab papers. I dropped over $200. Aside from Whole Foods, which I'd prefer not giving all my money to, this place has one of the more extensive selections of health food supplements, teas, incense, etc., a head shop and has all of your standard wiccan necessities like candles, oils, potions, etc. The place is clean and has lots of natural light. Attached to it is Nice Dreams, a coffee, tea, smoothie and ice cream place. There's plenty of space to sit. All views are of cemeteries, one side being the Katrina Memorial. If they sold books here, I would probably stay much longer and spend more money but it's definitely a place I will go back to in place of Starbucks. read more

Went to the Herb and Purchase a Detox from them yesterday, I didn't need the detox so the girl over the phone told me I can bring it with proof of purchase had my credit card transaction pulled up with purchase to show that I brought it from them. The bottle was unopened still had the wrapper around the bottle and they refused me a refund. Will not be coming back to this location. I shop with them all the time I'm very disappointed in the service I received. Don't know if it was a different person with different looks but I'm pretty sure they would've gave them a refund. B B's review is completely accurate. There is maybe one relaxed person working at this location, but there are also a couple of high-strung, incredibly rude people here, as well. I often get carded and it's no big deal. Not here. They are so incredibly paranoid at this location. One time, I attempted to walk past the "guard" to get into the over 18 room and he practically yelled at me to find out what I wanted. What if you don't know what you want yet? What if you want to browse?? It is such a hostile, degrading, complicated situation EVERY time I go in this place, that I no longer shop here...I go to the place on Magazine or the Ra Shop in Metairie. They are so pleasant . Once I actually get into the back room, that's when they bark at me "What do you want?!". Don't talk to people like you're trying to rush them out of the room and they are bothering you. Ironically, I feel like these people need to smoke a little and CHILL OUT. Full disclosure: the location on Adams is absolutely great. I thought this was what they sold and she made me feel like I was not a purchasing customer. If you need to pick up herbs or incense, this place is convenient and the prices are very reasonable. By reasonable, I mean they're not marked up just because you're in New Orleans. It's located right on Canal Blvd near City Park. I am always able to pull right up in front of the store and parking is free! No waiting in line and the staff is very helpful. I did not give the full five stars because they don't care everything. They're small. So if, you're looking for something that's not quite mainstream, you might have to call and check with them first. read more
