He did my friend's wedding dress alterations and completely dropped the ball. it was a beautiful form fitting dress with a small train and pretty folds on the front. After Akim altered it, the dress completely lost its shape, he hemmed it way too short, the bustle is off center, the folds don't look anything like the original, and she can't even fit into it anymore. We tried asking for him to fix it or to refund her but he adamantly refused and threatened her if she didn't pay. This dress is unsalvageable and we now need to go dress shopping again two months before her wedding. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy to be quite honest. read more

This man absolutely destroyed my wedding dress. First of all, his website has an entire section dedicated to wedding dresses and states they include multiple fittings. When I asked him to schedule a final fitting he absolutely lost his mind and told me this is all my fault, I came too early (when I called to simply inquire they told me I had to come in immediately so I stupidly trusted him and listened). He then told me that if I were to gain or lose any weight he can't do anything about it....this was immediately a massive red flag. I do not know a single woman who has ever been told there will not be multiple fittings prior to her wedding day. All my dress needed was a hem, a bustle, and the top to be taken in slightly. The hem line is completely uneven and you can see the lining of the dress, never mind the hem is too short and you can see my feet rather than having it brush the floor as we discussed. The bustle is off center and looks awful. The top is pulled so tight that the draping and folds on the front of the gown now look terrible and the tips of the dress dig into my armpits where they should not be. The zipper also has too much stress on it now and if I were to actually wear the dress as it is, it would literally pop open during my wedding. It is an A-line gown and he completely took its form away. It looks awful and he charged me $500 for it. When we called and told him the seamstress I took it to the next day was appalled and has to completely take the dress apart to even attempt trying to fix it, and we are canceling the payment, he threatened to call the cops. The man is a narcissistic POS and I am begging all brides STAY AWAY. I will never stop telling people how terrible he is. Obviously his skills were lacking but it's also his behavior and the way he spoke to me and my fiancé. He should genuinely be ashamed of himself. My wedding is in two months and I still don't know if I have to go buy a new gown because of him. He refused to take any responsibility, tried to play the victim and say I'm not being fair to him (try being the bride whose wedding dress is destroyed ????), and then threatened to involve the police. First Time going brought a ski jacket with ground in dirt stains. I've have washed it before without any luck getting the ground in dirt out. I also had two newly acquired stains. Charged me full amount and barely a difference. Their website claims they strive for 100% percent customer satisfaction, and they charged me the full amount, when I was not satisfied. Then ganged up on me, and said hey we don't guarantee. I wish they had told me that when they looked at the coat. They didn't indicate at all it might be too difficult, when I brought the jacket. Despite claims they can get the toughest stains out. Cannot recommend them at all! read more

(2021 review) Service was not professional. completely misunderstood what was needed. butchered 3-4 pairs of suit pants. Would NOT refund because I did not want him to touch the pants afterwards. Sent to a more appropriate high end tailor to fix the Barbarism. However if you want a cheap place for tailoring this is the place.. i certainly got what I paid for. fix a button sure.. I wouldn't bring anything expensive here and how I was treated start to finish will never again step foot in there as well as anyone needing a recommendation would never send here. I came in today to have my son's Burberry dress pants dry cleaned and to have 3 buttons re-sewn on. I was promptly greeted by the owners daughter who was super friendly. The owner himself sat happily in the corner working intently at his sewing machine. He was also really friendly in greeting me and telling me to have a nice day! These are the local family run business that we should be supporting! I was happy to see that it was family owned and operated! So I will definitely be returning! She quoted me $16 to dry clean/spot clean the pants and re-sew 3 buttons- although I can sew I didn't want to risk it due to the delicate and expensive brand and fabric! They also had a good variety of custom made masks for children and adults! I think when I pick up my sons's pants - I'll grab the $6 kids Minion mask! I'll definitely be back and I'm hoping they can get the tricky stains out of the garment!! read more

I brought my prom dress here that I spent a lot of money on. It was a somewhat vintage dress that I absolutely loved. After I brought it here however, it was a disaster. They measured out where I needed it hemmed and when I came to pick it up a couple weeks later it was way too short. They not only cut all of the fabric off so there was no chance of fixing it, when I was nearly in tears because my dress was ruined, they did even offer me a refund. I spent over $60 on a hem that was ruined and not to mention how much I spent on the dress. So needless to say I 100% do not recommend going here if you value what you are bringing in. read more

I really don't have anything good to say about this place. I brought in 3 suits to be tailored, including hemming the pants, shortening the jackets and sleeves. I was charged $105 per suit which is insane, but I was in a pinch so I absorbed the, again, ridiculous cost. None of the pants were done correctly, so I brought them back to have the error corrected, and they're still not right. Additionally, and most importantly, one of the jackets was hemmed 2" too short and is now unwearable because there is no fabric left to lengthen the jacket - I brought in 3 identical jackets and they were all tailored differently. I left a review stating the above, and received a nice response saying the issues could be fixed. I called and asked nicely how we would be able to fix the issue - that was my only question - I was passed to the owner who was incredibly rude and refused to speak to me over the phone, said I shouldn't have left a negative review and told me to come to the shop if I wanted any help. To add insult to injury, they actually suggested I was confusing the suits they tailored with other suits - mighty hard to do since they tailored all of the suits I own, so you can add condescending and ignorant to their list of attributes. As someone who wears a suit to work nearly every day, I often find myself in need of alterations. Nothing "off the rack" ever fits exactly right and there's a constant need for jacket sleeve lengths to be adjusted, pants hemmed, buttons adjusted, etc. Before I found Akim's, this was a constant problem for me. I found myself wearing clothes that didn't really fit just because it was such a pain to find a good tailor. In the past I have tried several other tailors in the area for simple alterations but all of them have taken weeks to return my items and charged far more than I would ever consider reasonable (especially given the long turnaround time.) I am quite impressed by the service I receive at Akim's Tailoring. The prices are great, the quality of the work they do is top notch, and their turnaround time has never been more than two or three days. I'm officially a loyal customer! read more

I give this place 2 stars only for the convenience of its location. I've been here a few times since moving to the area. This place is very pricey compared to other dry cleaners I've been too. I am very disappointed in the service I received at Akim's. So disappointed in fact that I am writing this 2 minutes after I walked in the door. I dropped my bridesmaid dress of at this establishment for a hem (which in my opinion was way overpriced) and asked them to save the extra fabric so that flowers could be wrapped in it. Whoever wrote me up made a note of it on the slip. I went to pick the dress and fabric up today and even though it was noted on BOTH the receipt at the store and my pickup receipt the fabric was NOWHERE to be found and I didn't even receive a discount to make up for the mistake. He told me to come down and he would get them done. I arrived at 6pm (when they were supposed to be closing) and he stayed until almost 7pm to get them done while I waited.
