I moved to Aksarben Village in 2013 and lived in the Pinhook apartments, I've since moved out and into Northwest Omaha, but since 2013, I've continued to live love and laugh in Aksarben. It's amazing almost 10 years later you've still got your staples; the movie theatre, Ponzu, DJ's, Jones Bro, LIV LOUNGE?! Who would have thought. The park remains in prestine condition, more and more massive buildings have popped up with so many great spots to get your nails done, have brunch, shop, go to the doctor. Aksarben Village has thrived in this part of town. The farmers market has grown substantially, and theirs no end to the amount of entertainment happening every weekend. This village is different than a lot of other Omaha neighborhoods where there is endless things to do. If you haven't spent a Sunday exploring the area, I highly suggest it.

There is a lot to do in this neighborhood area. We recently came with our grandkids to play on the playground after stopping by the farmers market. We played for a long time before we decided to eat at the inner rail food hall. It was a tough choice since there are just so many eateries near by. The farmers market is really cool by the areana. The parking is free and there are a few garages to park in. I love the local plant shop and I look forward to seeing more places pop up

Where do I begin and where do I end?? Aksarben Village continues to get better and better! Whether it's Roast for some coffee, Juice Stop for a healthy drink or Pauli's and DJ's for something a bit stronger, this is the place to be! Movie Theater, check; Fitness Center, check. Places for Sushi, Pizza, Thai, Tacos, Burgers and wine? Yep! And that's just for this moment in time. There is construction north of 67th Street for even MORE businesses and restaurants. Did I mention that MAHA Music Festival happens here in August and other concerts in Stinson Park throughout the Summer? There are also a couple of Omaha B-Cycle stations so you can catch the Keystone Trail and head north or south on a nice day. Too bad this place isn't near some really cool arena where the UNO Mavs can play their home hockey games and you could walk to or from Aksarben Village. . . never mind!

Aksarben Village has really made a once sleepy little midtown neighborhood a city-wide destination. A mixed used development, AV boasts a growing number of shops, restaurants and bars, not to mention office space, a couple hotels and many tastefully urban apartments. Plus, Stinson Park is the home to several wonderful local events such as Omaha Beer Fest and the Maha Music Festival, to name only a couple. If you don't remember, AV sits on former site of the Aksarben arena and horse track, which were both incredibly successful in their heydays (probably 1960s-1980s). But the '90s brought nothing but waves of neglect to the once proud property. UNO began their south campus expansion. The Scott Technology Center and dorms went up nearby. As did some new office space for First Data. The arena was torn down. Then the horse track. Soon, plans were made for the ambitious mixed used project, but were scaled back largely thanks to the economic downturn of the mid-2000s. Even so, slowly but surely AV is breaking ground on the few empty plots of land that are left. In the end, when all the land is fully developed (hopefully in a couple years), this will be a one of Omaha's most vibrant neighborhoods to visit morning, day or night. The obelisk is kind of freaky in a Masonic/New World Order kind of way though.

With all the rain this morning...will the band still be playing at Stinson?

Standing Bear Lake a great lake, we should pay closer attention to and keep it nice …read more There has to be something done about the people that are coming to this Park that are bringing pit bull, German shepherd, large dog breeds with no leash control, running around and small dogs. We are trying to enjoy a walk and get bothered by a dog not on a leash, come on people NO leashes on them Running loose with the owners at the park with them not paying attention to the laws of Omaha State parks. Your dog needs to be leashed not let loose running around I never seen a Nebraska Humane Society truck patrolling the park for dogs without leashes or police vehicles or Park ranger vehicles this park is going to go down quick if it is not maintained with some type of supervision there are people drinking alcohol and breaking bottles in the park, and in the park on the grass With their cars and pick up trucks destroying the landscape. Something has to be done, When will someone step in like maybe the mayor of Omaha and get this taken care of or is this another part of Omaha that they just don't care about? Someone step up and save our park from the hoodlums racing up and down the road, crashing into trees and one other thing that really bothers me is the exit leaving the park in between the hills the cars fly by there and there is going to be a accident at the intersection leaving the Park on 132nd. People fly up and down that street and the people coming out of the park are not aware of how fast the traffic is really traveling and there is going to be a bad accident. Mayor of Omaha, please fix these problems. Signed very concerned citizen of Omaha.

Iv always enjoyed fishing there and hiking. I've always had a nice time there . Always take tick…read morespray with you, these ticks are really thick this year last time I went I picked up three of them. But otherwise a very enjoyable experience.
