Let me tell you, Al is honestly one of the top nail techs in the area and the best nail tech I've had personally. I will not be going anywhere else to get my full sets done. She's very informed when it comes to safe nail practices and she's always on top of the latest trends and polishes so your nails will be healthy and beautiful. The primary reason I love her is because of how effortlessly and neatly she shapes your nails. Most nail techs I go to they get the shape to be decent, but they always kind of leave you something still left to be desired, you know? I've been to her 3 times already and she's slayed the shaped like no other. And so quickly, my gosh. She's really nice and as a fellow Jamaican always has me laughing. This review is for my overall experience not of her nail artistry*** .... I found Al through yelp I read the reviews and looked up pics a good while before I decided to give it a go ... so I first came in June 25th for a ombré full set and soak off .. the location that is on the yelp page says west orange but when you book your directed to her home location in Irvington ... I would have rathered it been west orange but Any who .. I arrived and was told to go to a side door and let into a basement , it was renovated into a nail salon which was really clean sleek and professional...Al is super sweet and personable and has the potential to be a stellar nail tech ... I told her I have a salon but was looking for a back up ..she looked at my nails to access my old set.. I told her my nails are LCN gel overlay-and I wasn't sure if they would soak up because I'm been getting filling constantly ... she wasn't sure if the material would soak off so we tried and she was correct it would t soak off so she begin to file ... she told me she didn't trust materials salon use because they can use MMA (honestly she mentioned MMA so much I thought it was my word of the day; substance that shouldn't be on nails... ) ive seen and heard stories of horrible places but thankfully I couldn't relate ... I thought we could just lift some of them but she thought it was take my nail with them so after filing it was resulted in some of my fingers been filed down too close to the nail bed but I figured eventually it was grow out ...after she applied the nail and gave me the initial cut down down I requested another one but she told me she would do after she applied the acrylic (which I knew meant I was getting the shuffle lol because why would you waste product by cutting down after ) Long story short Nails were applied and I absolutely loveddddd them.... I came back almost on July 18th I believe almost 3 weeks later for a cut down and fill in however and this is where it get sticky .... I waited outside of a unknown person house trying their side door knob for ten minutes (after my appointment time) not knowing that I was on the wrong block which is essentially my fault ... when I finally got in her basement I waited an addition 15 minutes while is breastfed which is understandable .... so Al begun my nails and she used brand new cuticle cutters and pushers which was a plus ....ironically when had just finished discussing her Yelp reviews and she told me she received a bad review from someone's nails coming off a few days after she did them but not having the chance to rectify the situation before the lady ran to the reviews (which I later applied to my situation, hold this thought*) she was also on a FaceTime and and turned to talk to her daughter while pushing my cuticles back when SLIP the stainless steel sliced through my finger ugh ... at first I must admit I didn't really feel it or maybe I was in shock because I did see so much blood but it burned really bad ... she did jump into action though and put the green solution to stop the bleeding instantly and apologized again .... then of course I went through theUV light and acrylic application which stung ... at the end the nails turned out really nice and it when it came time for payment I didn't bother to mention almost losing a finger I thought she would offer a discount or something, anything (giving her a chance*) but she didn't .... So all in all I left wounded , paid full price , and later realized my right hand nails were shorter then the left hand ... so My experience was not favorable , I will stick to traditional nail salons but again nice lady and good nail tech read more

Be prepared to get your appointments moved around. She (Al) takes squeeze ins. Meaning she charges 150 plus the cost of the service to fit you in. Leaving the person who made there appointment and deposit pushed to another time slot you did not agree to. This is a normal reoccurring thing. This happened to me 2 out of the 3 times I made an appointment. She will refund you with no problems. Her time is more valuable than yours and eventually you will feel that too. Aside from that she acts like she's doing you a favor more than a paying customer. She does nails beautifully. If your willing to deal with that in order to have fly then this is for you. read more

Al Bundie surpassed my expectations! I found her on StyleSeat and immediately booked my appointment after seeing pictures of her work. I do not get my nails done very often so I usually try new places hoping to find a nail salon that does amazing work. I have now found said place!!! She was extremely attentive to what I wanted, and gave helpful suggestions to help me choose the style and color of my hands/feet in the midst of my indecisiveness. It was a bit nerve-wrecking to allow someone to freestyle a design, but it came out beautifully! Al took her time from the pedicure, to the application of acrylic, the formation of the nail shape, and even with the Swarovski crystals. You will never feel rushed unlike other salons hurrying to get another person in the chair or pedicure station. Everything was clean which is a major plus after seeing salons be accused of unsanitary practices leading to their customers contracting nail diseases/infections. Honestly Al, is amazing. Very professional, work area is very clean/sanitized, the longest you will wait is 5 minutes for another clients nails to dry. She is very on schedule and never has you waiting long. She does NOT rush your nails, always takes hers time especially with shaping. Your nails will LAST ladies but please do remember they are nails & not indestructible. If your nails break you have done something. Overly experience is measured by horrible customer service. Quality of nails (so far) - good. But not satisfied with the shape. Usually I would say something to my nail tech to shape to my liking However, Al attitude was HORRIBLE !! She was not welcoming nor friendly. (Please keep in mind this was my first visit). In addition she failed to share her place of business is her home. This would had been common courtesy to share with a New customer. hence why I didn't say anything about Nail shape (she displayed signs of annoyance once I walked in & ultimately did not feel safe to be particular) I drove a good distance and at that point was not turning back. Bad customer service and far from hospitable. She said merely two words to me but when it was time to cut her water off while washing/brushing my hands she did not hesitate to "ask" not to have the water running while brushing. We were there in silence for 90 minutes and keeping a convo with her FORGET about it. I wrote a short review on booksy and she responded and we had a lot of back and forth via text/a phone conversation and it took me a while to write this post because I wasn't sure I wanted to but here it is: I believe I got her on a bad day when she wasn't feeling good and we were in an awkward silence for like a hour and eventually we did talk...I can see from other yelp reviews sometimes it's a fantastic experience and for others not so much. I ended up taking the nails off when I got home because I didn't even realize my cuticles were cut and bleeding as bad as they were. I got home and my fingers were sore and I seen dried blood around my fingers and the job looked rushed in the end but we were there for a hour plus. In the moment of getting my nails done I did feel the pain but I think I wasn't focused on that as much as I just wanted it to be done and I wanted to leave. I really wanted half my money back and she did offer to refund me and take the nails off. However, the next day I was calling booksy and my bank to see how to reverse the charges just to find out they never charged me in the first place and this is where it got weird. Al sent me a message basically trying to say I knew I didn't pay etc that's why I never came back so she can remove the nails....right when she texted me this bs insult, while I was at work nevertheless, I called her because NOBODY is going to speak ill of my character when I have NO reason to stiff a bill. I have a full time job that pays very well, and I try out small businesses just to write reviews so I took immediate offense to this. She is the one that told me I paid she seen it on the app and I was like oh okay and seen a receipt too, I never used booksy and only downloaded it to book an appointment with her. So I told her she was confused about the app and so was I. We had a long conversation and she basically told me the way she does things are fine with her long time clients and new ones but I told her you have a business and everyone isn't going to be satisfied. First off when I got there she was doing her daughters nails and had me waiting, not that long, a baby was on the steps and I almost stepped on him accidentally and felt weird as hell at the moment. She was sick and honestly she could've rescheduled because when you are not up to par you cant possibly give a great experience. She was dressed in very old pajamas and no bra and I just felt very uncomfortable with my first time coming to someone's home business being presented with all this. She lives in Irvington and outside is a bit sketchy which I did not care at all about that and her set up was nice I'll give her that. However, through out the session she kept sniffing rubbing alcohol while drinking tea and I didn't understand what was going on. The next day when we had our conversation she said it helps with the headaches she was having. I know nothing about that method but it was throwing me off. As a first time client the impression I got was a lot to take in and weird. And I also told her later on I was in her home and didn't feel comfortable complaining about the situation because...I was in her basement and I just felt like it would've all went left. I do feel like she knows what she is doing, but like I told her she just isn't for me. Also if you're the nail professional a client SHOULD be able to ask you questions and your opinions on the best looks/colors/designs etc. and the products you have. She kept telling me she doesn't give an opinion because of how people like to act unsatisfied in the end and blame her blah blah blah, I just thought that was rude especially because I was asking, I've never experienced that at all.And I was pissed about the nails because I was flying out of state for a wedding the next day and I RARELY get my nails done and I searched for weeks on a good nail tech, my husband even felt bad for me because he knew how excited I was to do something different. So I posted all the pics to show my nails, I did like the one marble nail I had but overall I wasn't happy. I've seen other pics of her clients nails looking fantastic and mine didn't come out that way. And she wanted me to delete my comments and as I told her I will not, this is the world we live in and it's only fair for a customer to post their honest experiences at any establishment. After my long time nail lady did me dirty, I was left searching for another quality nail tech in the area. I tried a couple of places (including a very popular new salon in the Rockaway area) but was never satisfied with the way my nails came out. My aunt came across Al's work and we decided to give her a try. Al is super nice and very friendly. She took her time on my nails and I never felt rushed. Even when her next appointment came in as she was polishing my nails, she continued to take her time and make sure everything was perfect. Al reshaped my nails into a perfect coffin shape, and I honestly don't think they've ever looked better. I hate it when I get home and I see that my nails are uneven or crooked, but after leaving Al's chair I was completely satisfied with my nails. She is nestled inside Shear Bliss salon right on PVW. I called ahead just to make sure she'd have time for me and we scheduled an appointment that same day. I asked for a full acrylic extension and requested coffin shaped nails. She was so pleasant and hard working while being very detail oriented and patient with my indecisiveness.
