I have been trying to come here for a while now but I always heard horror stories about a no opening for weeks for walk-in waits of over 3 hours and so I stayed away. I walked in on a Tuesday at 6 and there were about 4 people already waiting ... they close at 7. So I asked for an appointment thinking I would have to wait another week to get my nails done. Luckily someone cancelled the next day and I was able to get in. I arrived the next day and was immediately sat down for a pedicure. Once my pedicure was done I sat and waited for 45 mins before I could get my nails done. So even though you have an appointment EXPECT to wait. I really like this place, best salon in Belleville. I've tried almost every nail salon and have had a really hard time finding a reliable place since moving here. I think I've had the same experience with this male tech mentioned in other reviews, who does not speak much at all, or may not be able to speak English well enough to talk to clients. The last two times he did my nails they were coated THICK, uneven, and dented by the application brush, with bubbles. This time (three times with same tech) they are not. He did a decent job. He also has a habit of spilling the gel on my cuticles (my nails/hands are small so I understand it's not an easy job) but nonetheless, it is annoying. As you can see in the picture, the spillage looks sloppy and ends up being where my nails start to chip prematurely. You really aren't going to find a better place than this though, unless you venture outside of Belleville. read more

Got my nails done at this place and it was the worst job ever. The guy spoke zero English I wonder if he really has a license to be a manicurist( how did he pass the test). Crooked, uneven nails. He kept hurting my nails and filling them like a piece of wood. Not only that ,he took a 30 minute break for lunch, I counted on my watch as he went and left me sitting waiting. I went back the next day to fix it the owner was very rude. Didn't look at my face didn't say hi or sorry. Fixed my nails the way he thought would be ok( they still don't look good). Very unfriendly people with zero personality. Take your money some place else. The women and men who work there are so rude it's unbelievable they are still open. Yes you have to make an appointment and yes they are not good about answering their phone and yes you have to wait even after you have made an appointment but the quality of work is unprecedented. So I was sad to find out the salon I was going to in Kearny closed without notice. A friend told me about Sonny's so I checked it out. I was not disappointed. Consistency - CHECK! $25 Gel Manicures - CHECK! As others have noted, if you don't make an appointment you will be waiting. SO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. And just a heads up, even if you make an appointment, you are still going to wait. I had an appointment for 4:30 and waited over half an hour until my appointment began. Additionally she was simultaneously giving a manicure to another client. For this reason, I cannot give a full 5 star review. I keep it simple with polishes/designs however I've seen what this establishment can do and they do a great job with intricate and creative styles and are always willing to reproduce a design if you bring in a picture. They have A TON of gel colors and also do gel pedicures which is a first that I've seen in any salon. Park across the street in the K Mart parking lot. I have gone to this place before and I was hoping for the that lady help me last time that fixed my nail but she wasn't there I forgot her name but I remember she was Spanish. She good nail technician. But anyways I came in today 02/14/19 around 5pm as a walk in and there usually two tables I front on the chair where people normally sit and wait..... but get to the point it was a male that did my nails he was wear grey with a burgundy long sleeves shirt and so he start ok at first but after shaping them I just knew he already messed up he made two of my nails on my right hand really short and I asked for coffins he manage to do it but him over filing like crazy on my right hand that my left and right had have two multiple sizes of nails and the acrylic is not even filled correctly the man didn't even like smoothed it he just past the one time trimming the acrylic and I know other nail tech the tend to smooth but also fix the bottom of the nail where the cuticles can breath but the man didn't do that my nails nails look like it was glue and there sticking up weird and top of that jut one nail it filed perfect and the the other 9 are short and the acrylic on the nail is think and bumpy really am disappointed my nails look wide and fat. read more

They have all the popular names - Essie, Shellac, OPI - as well as some lesser-known brands. They are located at the corner directly across from Kmart's lot. That's where I ended up parking my car. They use the electric filer instead of manually filing away the top layer of gel manicures. This makes it faster, but it is not uncommon to feel high levels of heat because of this. The staff are mostly concerned with just getting the job done and don't make time for small chit-chat. I messed up my pinky toe at one point and it annoyed the lady, but at least she helped me fix it. I was pretty happy with the turnout of my gel mani and pedicure. Their interior can be a bit of an eyesore, but that's more of a preference thing, imo. And $35 for this combo is hard to beat. read more

I tried this place for the first time today and it wasn't too bad, the wait was typical for a Saturday. I was greeted when I walked in and then, waited about 15 minutes after my scheduled time. I got a regular manicure and my manicurist was very good and meticulous. I went here because it was close by and it did the job. I gave them 4 stars in my last review but after today I'm done with this place. I just spent 3 hours here and I HATE MY NAILS. They are coated uneven, shaped crooked, and SLOPPY. Oh, and my nails are all different lengths. I usually go to Crystal Nails by Allwood Road in Clifton. I get the stiletto nails and Tally shaped and designed my nails exactly the way I asked her to; She was patient, meticulous and did my nails perfectly! And if I did have a problem with my nail chipping or something like that I would always call them and it was fixed as soon as I could get in there. First of all i came to do my gel manicure and the lady that did it did such a ugly job I was not happy she was rushing around like I'm getting my nails done for free. I came to take off my gel coating and I got charged $10 when other places they charged $5 the owner is such a nasty person saying well that's other places this is my place when I was asking nicely why there is such a difference when it's minimum work. I've discovered this place relatively two years ago off and on because of how they operate. First of all, there is limited space to wait comfortably until someone assists you. Secondly, I would not call any section of it...a Spa. So, please save a trip. They say they go by Appointments, but when you rush to make your appointment your wait time is past 15-20 minutes long. The owner himself (Sonny) is snobbish and his wife falls in that same category unless you're a loyal customer who will tolerate the wait. It's a Catch 22. When I go without an appointment, I wait. When I book my appointment 2 weeks in advance, I wait. I left work behind, just to make it on time which I did. So, if you're willing to squeeze in the four seats provided or wait outside, the place is for you. If you're expecting a friendly greeting as a new or old customer when you walk in to support their nail salon, you'll be sadly disappointed. I walk up after waiting for 15-20 minutes and Sonny was going to throw me to get a pedicure to save time and money for double booking appointments. I had asked how much longer it will be and he rudely blurts out in his language something with an inhospitable tone. So, I politely and softly say, I will cancel my appointment out of courtesy before I exit and Sonny's wife just switches her eyes off to another customer and ignores me as I quickly leave the shop. Btw, a mani & pedi costs the same as a fill-in. Amazing. So, no, I'd rather pay more money somewhere else who values my time wisely. read more

From reading recent reviews I can tell that this place has changed since a manicurist named Lisa left. I went to Tu to get a full set of gel tips and it was the cheapest I've ever seen. $40 for a full set.. wow! Tu is a great guy! He made conversation and made my experience enjoyable. Unfortunately I can not give this place a good review due to the quality of the nails. My tips started falling off 3 days after I got them done. I never experience that before. But I went back and Tu repaired them for no charge which was great. I guess you get what you pay for. I won't be going back here again though.
