I had visited 5/18 with a few girlfriends. It had rained a day prior so there definitely were some muddy patches. We also encountered a black snake (too scared to take a picture- I ran away), a dead baby snake, a ton of cicada shells, spider webs in the way of our path, and some bees. We went around 11am and though the high was 84, it wasn't so bad since most of the trail is in the woods. I hadn't been here in a while but it seemed shorter than I remember. If you're looking for an hour-ish long hike, swing on by.

There was a good amount of people on the trail and they were all really nice and respected the other people out on the trail. Lots of really nice single track and some double on your way in and out of the park. I wrecked twice just starting into the first 2 switchbacks but I had no idea what I was getting into. Overall best trail I have been on, but I guess that makes sense because its the only one I have been on.

This makes it more fun and adventurous any how. The topology of the trail path is "8" with three possible loops. The longest is 10 miles. It goes up all the way to the top hills and may get a little tough for kids and seniors there, but not impossible and all doable. Don't forget your OFF spray! Lots of mosquitoes inhabitants on your way at Lost Valley trail!

Every time I came to a path fork I took the trail heading away from the interior. So, it was a delight to cover the perimeter and finally explore areas I hadn't been in before. However, the lack of trail markers--even at the forks--meant much of the time I had little idea where I was. The trail map was no help and only by checking the sun's position and knowing where the river was did I have an idea of the general direction I was headed. That was frustrating. I kept thinking how a walker wouldn't know where they were, nor how far they were from the next fork that could take them back to Bangert's entrance. Beyond that, the island's trails are fairly easy. Paths nearest the River Road and along the north are solid and mostly flat. Trails along the river are sandy with frequent dips and switchbacks. I began by heading north toward Interstate 70 and its traffic roar. Once I made the turn south and biked further from the bridge the noise subsided and the ride became more serene. However, the trail also got narrower. Trees close in and it's easy to snag a handlebar or pedal. There were a few small tree trunks across the trail--part of the fun of mountain biking--but most were level with the ground. A few trunks showed recent evidence of large trees having been cut to allow the path to run between the sections. Carey in what you need: There are no facilities of any sort here.

Had to backtrack and try another trail. That trail was open with no dead ends. Hopefully St. Charles County parks will clear the downed trees this winter and open all the trails once again for Spring 2022. Anyway, nice overlook of the Missouri River just south of the I-70 Blanchette Bridge. The trails are mostly wooded with several spots that have views of the river.

Rock Hollow trail is a 2.3 mile trail accessible from Ridge Meadows Elementary or via the Al Foster…read moretrail and Bluff View Trail. It is a wide, paved path meandering through the "hollow" between two ridges. From Ridge Meadows, the path gradually descends with many bridge crossings, benches, and rest areas located along the trail. The spring wildflowers fill the area with pops of color. We went on a weeknight and were practically the only ones on the trail, but I imagine it can get crowded with walkers, runners, and bikers on the weekends.

I brought my parka for the day but I feel like it's so big and bulky. I wanted a lighter option that was wind resistant. Beth helped me and just as I was asking ChatGBT how cold it would still keep me warm she asked me in person and she said 30 degrees which was inline with what chat said so whoohoo! It actually warmed up to 30 the day I got it while I wore my better sweater 1/4 zip and wow it made such a difference. No buyer's remorse, no ragrets, not even a letter. :)

I was experiencing a problem with the…read moregear shift on my Giant bicycle, it's been a few years since we biked regularly so I thought I should have my bike and my husband's bike serviced. I called Trailhead Bicycles and asked about service packages, service appointments etc. The young gentleman I spoke to was Ian (sp), he was extremely helpful over the phone explaining the service procedures and timeframe for service completions available. We decided after talking to Ian to drop our bikes off that day for an evaluation. We expected to leave our bikes and pick-up two weeks later. Upon arrival, Ian met us and did a quick review of our bikes, assessed my gear malfunction, gave us price quotes etc. Due to the well kept condition of our bikes, Ian decided he could service our bikes right then. We were so surprised, not at all what we expected! Long story, Ian performed a thorough review and service of our bikes and had us out of there within an hour - not two weeks as expected! Ian provided us peace of mind about the condition and operation of our bikes, he assured us our bikes are in great condition and safe for us to hit the trails! We received excellent service from the helpful, kind and courteous staff at this location - highly recommend. It's 10 miles long, and depending where you start, it will take you by awesome spots. My favorite is going by Grants Farm (especially in the fall), and if you're lucky you can see the Clydesdales. I've always felt safe and definitely appreciate having it in the county. The only draw back is having to wait for walk signs at busy intersections which can be a bummer on a run, but it's not a deal breaker with the value it adds to our community!

He is very knowledgeable but doesn't talk down to you. Nor does he push a hard sell, or try to hype up any of his bikes. He comes across as a honest dude. He buys bikes, fixes them up so they are ready to ride, and resells them. The best part -- he offers a 90-day warranty on any bike he sells. Try getting that on Craigslist... Here's how it works. Go to his website and check out his selection. If you see something you like, call him and arrange a time to check out the bike at his UCity home. If you decide you want the bike, you put down a non-refundable 30% deposit on it. After you do this, Paul will spend a couple days getting the bike all tuned up and ready to ride. Then you go back, pay the remaining amount, and take your new used bike. He is happy to install extras like a water-bottle holder or a kickstand for a small fee. I would recommend checking the site often, because his bikes go QUICK (especially the hybrids). He takes credit cards, but I would recommened paying with a check (w/ local address) to avoid a surcharge. Paul also does repairs, and he says that he often works on bikes that bike shops have refused. I picked up a nice hybrid bike for $280+tax and I'm enjoying it.
