When my previous favourite was closed, I hunted Just Eat for alternative Middle Eastern treats, and came up with this spot. Being swayed by the lassis (I love a take away that do more than just fizzy pop) I decided to give them a whirl.
There's several good points about this eatery, but those are all tempered by slightly less-than-good points too, so I've balanced out with 3 stars. The menu is more expensive than the other places I've tried with the same dishes, by a few quid in some cases, which was a little disappointing. However, the range is decent, and they serve up curries as well as Middle Eastern, if you fancy a mix.
I ordered the traditional mango lassi, tabbouleh, mixed grill plate and a tandoori roti. The food came late, however, this was only by about 10 minutes and they rang to let me know, and the driver apologised profusely when he delivered. This was excellent customer service, as I've had plenty of late take aways before with no so much as a phone call or acknowledgement from the driver! Lovely staff, it has to be said.
The food was still pretty warm considering it was late, and it came with a delicious pot of spicy salsa and mint yoghurt - perfect with a mixed grill as the meat would have been a bit on the dry side otherwise. The mixed grill was plentiful, and included chicken wings, three pieces of tandoori (?) chicken, two lamb chops, and two spicy sausages. The sausages were a tad too spicy for me, but the rest was eaten in no time.
The tabbouleh wasn't quite as balanced as I've had elsewhere, but in all the food was fair, and I'd certainly look to ordering with them again. There was something missing that didn't quite hit the spot like others I've tried, but over all it's a decent outfit, and worth looking up. Perhaps if it was priced a little lower, that'd be better, as I do think I've gotten more for less elsewhere.
Oh, and the mango lassi was delish. Definitely get one of those to wash it all down. read more
