Al Porto - Stuffed octopus -- meh

A great restaurant with excellent food and service. Not sure how I found this place, but I was…read morepleasantly surprised by the quality of the seafood and the service. It's located in a stand alone building about a 10 minute drive from the Duomo. It seemed at least 1/2 if not more of the customers on a Saturday evening were locals rather than tourists. A definite positive in my book. We tried the stuffed octopus, grilled scallops, Captain's Risotto, bavette with shrimp and tomato, grilled monkfish, and grilled prawns with garlic and chili oil. The stuffed octopus was just ok. The grilled scallops were amazing. The bavette pasta dish was perfectly al dente and had a great flavor. The grilled prawns were superb, however there were only 5 prawns for 40 euros which seems rather ambitious . The monkfish was delicious as well. I really enjoyed the chicory salad for 5 euros. My only gripe here were the numerous flys that were buzzing around the table throughout the entire meal. It was of course late July in the middle of the summer, but I really would expect more from the restaurant. Maybe bug lights, fans, misters or something. Really too many flys for a place of this caliber. The service was prompt and attentive. Food: 4.0 - 4.5 stars Service: 4.25 stars Ambiance: 3.5-4.0 stars Would I come back? Yes, but maybe in the winter instead. Pro Tip: a few items in the menu are marked for a minimum of 2 people. I overheard the waiter next to us offering another customer the ability to order any of the items for just 1 person.

Very good seafood, but the restaurant is quite fancy... the service borders on having a personal…read moreservant. Had a wonderful meal with capesante (scallops) appetizer, seafood primo, and a large Rombo (similar to a Halibut but a bit different) with wine and and interesting desert... for sixe people it came to 388 euro, so say 65 euro per person. The location is cool, a stand alone white building at the end of the canal (hence "al porto")
