I drove an hour to test drive a vehicle and the salesman, Lance, could not be bothered to inform me before I made the trip that the radio in the vehicle did not even work. I felt like I wasted an entire afternoon taking off work and driving to test drive the vehicle. He was also working multiple sales at the same time while there were several other salepersons inside of the building who didn't appear to be working at all but standing around talking with eachother. He also told me he was going to get a key to another vehicle for me to test drive and then I saw him walking out of the building with another girl and keys to show her a car. I was disappointed in the amount of disrespect that was shown to me for my time and upset about the time I wasted and would not recommend doing business with the used cars of Al Serra in Grand Blanc. I would also like to add that one vehicle he showed me clearly said on his computer screen they only paid $2,000 for it yet they jacked the price up to $5,000 and the vehicle was a piece of trash. read more

My daughter bought a car at Al Serra. A 2010 GMC Terrain and paid $7,200 for it. Had a clunking sound coming out from underneath of it. My daughter took it to another GM dealership and they couldn't get it on the Hoist cuz the frame was rusted so bad. She called her salesperson and was told by her it was sold as is and they don't check them out so it was her problem. A few months go by and she takes it back in to the other GM store they finally get it on a hoist and the rear axles spring can't be mounted to the frame cuz it's rusted so bad which is a huge safety issue. I can't believe Al Serra is selling cars with without at least checking safety. That's a huge liability on their part to put a customer in a car that is not safe and tell them well it's as is we're not doing anything. She just put a new timing belt in it and now the car has to go to the junkyard it's worthless. Shocking coming from Al serra , you think they were a better quality dealer than that. Terrible customer service I was planning on using them to replace a windshield made multiple calls waited months and then they said they never ordered the part. Then I gave them more time and they still never ordered the windshield. I had to call my insurance company again and switch companies it took safeglass two days and they came to the house. SERVICE Review: Al Serra at one time was the "go to" dealership for service...however, over the past few years they have become similar to the competition. If you go in for a simple repair or quote they place more emphasis on giving pricing on more costly repairs or service that you may or may not need. They forgot what made them #1....customer service NOT Sales. They are pushing for the largest bill possible instead of concentrating on what the customer is asking for and making the "sales" of additional items secondary. It seems like they are really high priced now too. I hear the same story every time I visit, "you don't have an extensive history with us, are you getting service done somewhere else?". Then they proceed to hand me an outrageously expensive quote. Don't get me wrong, they are still performing good work, its just not a better VALUE than the competition...its the same perceived value as the rest :-( read more

I literally don't even want to give them 1 star...they had my car for 7 hrs for an oil change, then 2 wks into driving the car my oil light came on..and I was like what!!! I had almost no oil, I didn't have any leaks previously now the filter is messed up and causing a huge leak. So now I have a new added expense..plus my coolant was so low...so do they even check the fluids. I guess you get what you pay for. I have repeatedly taken my car in for a ignition problems. Every time it's a new problem and it cost me between 600 and $800 to have my car fixed 2011 Chevy Aveo with less than 70,000 miles.. There is obviously a problem with this car. Yet every time I come in it is money out of my pocket. I am done paying money to this multi billion dollar corporation. You people need to own up to the problems you have with the products you offer. I have contacted an attorney that will help me with legal issues regarding this car. Buyer beware. read more

Al serra Chevrolet sold me an overpriced uses 2012 Chevy Cruze Eco in May of 2022 with the final bill being about $8,000.00 for A Cruze that had 141,000 miles already on it, with me being the 3rd owner. This price included a $249.00 dealer fee for selling the car off of their lot, which I still don't understand what this dealer fee was for and I never will. Bumper was and still is hanging off front end of this 2012 Chevy Cruze Eco. Salesman was good and kind, but no offer to fix up bumper in body shop or replace bumper before letting me take it off the lot and driving off. Bumper is still not fixed and dragging, car was apparently in a small accident by one of the owners. I was presented car fax, car had been in one minor accident. Small oil leak but don't know where in engine this is coming from. Signed paper that I acknowledged that there was an oil leak. Asked for warranty for this 2012 Chevy Cruze Eco, warranty person at the time last May said I could not get a warranty on this car but did not go into why I could not purchase a warranty for this car. I would have appreciated the car to be lowered in price if the bumper was not attached to the car or for it to be completely replaced in suitable condition for the front end to look presentable for the amount of money I paid for this used car with 141,000 miles already on it. I never bought a car from AL Serra before in my life I won't be going back for my next car. Disappointed for what I paid with bumper not property attached or offer to fix bumper before I actually bought it, there was no negotiation in price I bought it for the price it was advertised for, but over paid for a car with this many miles on it and a broken bumper. Should have walked right out of the used car building and not bought this car. I have replaced thermostat also do to car started to overheat this December of 2022. read more

I called ahead to look at a truck. I was told that it would be ready for me when I arrived at the dealership. Long story short, after 1.5 hours and many excuses as to why the truck was not here to drive the salesman finally pulled the truck up. Clearly it was just detailed as it was dripping wet. The kicker was that when I sat in the driver's seat I noticed a check engine light on! This was a $32,000 truck that they dragged me along 1.5 hours to see. Then they bring it to me with a check engine light and never once thought it would be appropriate to tell me! I immediately got out of the truck and walked out. Such a waste of my time. I drove 40 miles away to a different dealer and bought the same model/year truck. I will never shop here again and never recommend them. Such a dishonest bunch of people. Logic tells me that they had been trying to service the truck to get the check engine light off while I waited as they fed me BS lines. read more

Consumers Beware I bought my 2018 Chevy Traverse in December of last year at Al Serra of Grand Blanc. The sales department was fine but the service department has been a nightmare. My brakes have gone out 4 (FOUR!!!) times since purchasing my car. Each time it has gone in for repairs the problem has not been fixed. On Christmas day I was driving to my family Christmas party and the car wouldn't stop while still in our sun and I hit a rock rounding a corner. Embarrassed, I took my car to the dealership when they reopened in early January and had it repaired even though it was only cosmetic since I only had 643 miles on it at the time. We got our car back on January 10, 2018. I had my car back for less than a month and on February 8, 2018, after picking up my daughter from daycare and with her in the car, I tried and was unable to stop my vehicle while approaching an intersection. They had the car for over a month working on the brake system and we didn't get it back until March 12, 2018. They assured us when it was returned that it was fully tested and that the issue we encountered was a known problem with a known fix. We were repeatedly reassured that there would be no more problems when we expressed concern about the safety of the vehicle. During this time Al Serra gave us several rental cars when they were available. The first car smelled like dead fish, was disgustingly dirty, and had garbage and moldy beer bottles in the trunk! In the end we escalated to the manager, who supposedly was escalating to GM to try to get us compensated for the month they had the car that we were making payment. Nothing ever happened and we left it alone. On April 25th, 2018 my oldest son was injured and we were on our way to the ER, while backing out of my driveway my brakes began pulsating and went all the way to the floor AGAIN with the same 'Service Brake Assist' message that flashed on the screen. They again found a 'new bulletin' with more information on the problem, replaced essentially the same components as the last time they had it and assured me that they had it fixed. Al Serra said that they had worked closely with GM on the fix and that Chevy had made modification to one of the components between this time and last to address the brake failure problem. They again assured us that this time the problem was definitely fixed, but in general blew off the severity of the situation. We again, stupidly, took the car back on their word. On Sunday, July 15th, 2018 the brakes went out the same way again at another intersection. Once home, hooked up a BlueTooth OBD2 code reader that was purchased after Incident 3. It was displaying code 'Pending Fault P0557 Powertrain'. This same code was noted on BOTH the 2/8 and 4/25 service reports. There was NO warning light on the dash before, during, or after this incident except for the quick 'Service' message that popped across the user display. On Monday morning we called Al Serra service and talked to the same service advisor that we had worked with on all other incidents. He told us to have it towed in and gave us the number to Chevy roadside assistance and told us to arrange transport on our own, which my husband did. My husband then called and demanded that this be escalated within Al Serra and to Chevy to work on a vehicle replacement or buyback. He received a quick initial callback from the manager who said that he would help because by his own admission he felt that the problems were scary and that it was beyond Al Serra's ability to fix. He did NOT assist with the GM escalation. Later that day Eric, the service manager called my husband to say that they had found YET ANOTHER brand new bulletin that explained our issues and went on to say that it was a known problem when the car was remote started. When he explained that the car was started from with in. When pushed for more information on the bulletin he shut down and said he couldnt share it because Al Serra was under a non-disclosure with Chevy. The only detail that he would provide was that it was numbered 5480518, which means nothing to us and does nothing to reassure us. The Al Serra tech replaced a wiring harness and not to worry because this time the car was REALLY fixed. He tried to blow off concerns as he had before and wanted us to come get the car, which we refused to do. We opened a ticket on Tuesday with the GM Premier Service group to get this car replaced or refunded as a Lemon and the case has been escalated to their 'advanced investigators'. Al Serra cant or won't give us a loaner because, and I quote, "when you guys make those phone calls it ties our hands" as Eric stated. This contradicts the information provided directly by GM by the service advisor. We are currently still waiting on a resolution. read more

I had my truck in for a warranty repair, the technician that worked on it did a poor job in quality. There were wires left out of the harnesses, random zip ties and overall disregard for the customer. I had to have it towed back because the repair work done cause a fire in my truck. After getting it back the second time, my stabitrac light is on as well as ABS light. Neither of these lights were on when I dropped it off either time. Ethan the service tech I was dealing with has been no help. Basically telling me I'm stuck with these issues. I would suggest steering clear of using them, they do sub par work. My truck is worse off than when I initially had it repaired. Pretty sad when the tow truck driver tells you I should have went to Simms or Vic Canever. read more

There was no regular contact from service. They had the car a total of 8+ hours. It wasn't ready at 5pm after being dropped off at 9:30 am for a new tire. When I arrived I was assured it was nearly ready. 20 minutes later was told they couldn't find the tire. Tire was found and then another 15-20 minutes. Finally left just before closing at 7pm. Service had my vehicle for almost 10 hours for a tire change. read more

This review is for service only; my brother in law owns a Chevy dealership so I usually buy from him, but Al Serra gets my service business in town. On my most recent visit, which was for a GM recall, I made an appointment on the web using their scheduling tool which was simple and intuitive. Got the car there a few minutes early and was met by the Service Manager who was friendly and professional, checked in the car, and walked me over to me Service Advisor, Laith. I added a Dexos oil change and replaced my wipers which were shredding, for $57 and was out the door in less than an hour. Clean facility, professional appearance, and the folks here really seemed to have a good comraderie. read more

I made an appointment for an oil change and when I arrived, I was told that it would be 45 minutes for the service. After 1hr & 15 minutes, my service was finally completed. "Best price and more for your trade in". This is flat out a lie. I went in to the dealership to purchase a new vehicle. Doing my due diligence, I had been to three other dealerships to see who in fact had the best price and offered the most for my car I was trading in. After leaving the dealership because the gentlemen who assesses trade ins was backed up, I then had to contact the salesman the next evening about what the status was as he hadn't bothered to call me. He then told me the dealerships offer for my trade in. It was the LOWEST offer I had received from any dealer by $500. When I questioned the salesman, he said "well we're giving you a great deal of incentives on the new car, so that's the best we can do". As if Al Serra is the only dealership giving standard Dodge incentives. Basically the cute little sheets posted all over about the best trade in price and best price on a new car are in fact false advertising claims. To top it off, when I said that wasn't acceptable and I had been offered much more and would be taking my business elsewhere, he said "ok". Fantastic. I cannot imagine where my business would be if I advertised and treated my customers this way. Truly sad. read more

brought my truck in for an oil change and tire rotation. left with the vehicle, only to recieve a "low oil" message on my display. when i got home, there was no oil in the truck whatsoever. they drained it but never filled it back up. had to have the truck towed back to the dealership to have oil put in it. dealership refused to replace the engine, well knowing there could be alot of engine issues to follow because of this careless mistake. didnt offer to refund my money back for the oil change and the time i wasted having to come back, or offer any kind of incentive for me to refurn-free oil changes, etc. will never be back. read more

I use to have great service both in the sales and service side. Something has definitely happened in the past year to make it go downhill. We went to sales to inquire about a vehicle we are interested in. The salesman barely gave us the time of day. Ran quick numbers for us which were figures we weren't interested in. Never took down any of our info which I believe is Sales 101 and didn't try to get to k ow ya or our needs. They weren't interested in us so I'm NOT giving them my sale. We also currently own a Chevy vehicle and use the service garage for oils changes. Again the service use to be great but not anymore. The last 2 times I have been in there my vehicle was actually in worse shape than when I drove in. One time I turned around the building and went back into the service garage. Why doesn't anyone notice this while transporting my vehicle around the lot. They use to check all of your fluids and remind you of service which is due but not for the past 6 months. They only try to sell me a tire rotation which I can get for free elsewhere. I am guessing since my Vehicle older and not brand new off the lot they aren't interested in me.
