purchased a 2016 jeep wrangler. Thought i really had something. Not even paid the 3rd payment yet and been in the the shop 2 times. Each time 250 dollars deductible for extended warranty deductible. Thank god I got that. That was within a week apart. First time went in for a coil issue they found the spark plug loose. Day later same issue instead of changing the coil the swapped it from cylinder 6 to one. lucky they did. Upon the first time they changed water pump and seals. Less than a week later radiator. Honesty would have been nice and making sure used vehicles are actually being repaired and serviced properly. We bought a used 2017 Chrysler Pacifica and we have had problems with it ever since we bought it in June. The tip of the iceberg was when we got the first oil change done. We took it in for an oil change as we saw the oil life percentage indicator getting down to under 10%. The oil in the engine was like tar and the oil filter was caked with sludgy oil. Our oil change guy said he has never seen an oil filter this bad. Thankfully by the grace of God, the engine didn't cease up. I called Al Serra and spoke with the sales manager who basically blamed me for not changing the oil sooner. He said there is no way his repair guys would shirk their responsibilities with their "fool proof" accountability computer tracking system. Yeah right. We will not be going back there nor do we recommend this place. read more

Went in to purchase used Subaru. During test drive the LOW TIRE warning appeared. Telling the salesman I wanted the tire "fixed" more air was put into the leaking tire. Apparently no one took the time to learn what was causing the leak. Before I was home it was LOW AGAIN. When I got into a tire shop an inch and a quarter long, quarter inch wide, screw portion was removed from the LOW TIRE. Someone at Al Serra Auto Plaza really should have evaluated the tire and truly repaired the leak. it is wrong to receive a car that has a flat tire in just a few days. A fair price was paid for the used vehicle, but its initial quality left a lot to be desired. read more

Be careful buying used vehicles from this shady dealership. We went to look at a Yukon Denali XL they had listed. The pictures online were so misleading, nowhere did the pictures show the rust or water damage inside and outside of the vehicle. Or the mildew stains throughout, the caked mud under every pocket. The service receipts they sent that list everything they did to get the vehicle ready for sale did not reflect the new doors put on, the aftermarket dvd system installed or any of the other repairs. When all the obvious problems were brought to their attention, they claimed they had no idea. This vehicle more than likely was in a flood. Will NEVER do business with them again. read more

We took my van with less than 100,000 miles on it and a transmission issue. They lied and said it was installed improperly without nuts and bolts so they couldn't fix it. They also said there were no codes on it, yet another dealership found a code on the transmission immediately. We had certified mechanics verify it was not installed incorrectly. In fact, it was still under warranty. They took my $165 diagnostic fee and offered no solution to help us. I'll never go there again. It's too bad too. We plan to just get it fixed, trade it in, and buy a new car. read more

We were interested in a 2012 Toyota Sienna: The photos on the site looked great, and no issues were flagged. My husband called a salesperson to ask additional questions and specifically asked if there was body damage. The salesperson noted one area that had slight damage and sent a photo. Based on this information, we drove to Grand Blanc to look at the minivan. (We live in Grand Rapids.) Just from walking around the vehicle, we noted many additional dings and scratches. Several panels would have needed to be replaced. The interior smelled like smoke. It did not start so it was jumped by a service person; when he closed the hood we noticed that the right side of the hood was significantly buckled and was not flush with the panel. When we mentioned it the service person said that it was not an issue because the vehicle "was drivable" and he walked away. The salesperson made no apology for not disclosing these deal-breaking issues. Needless to say, we did not purchase it. It was a terrible experience, as we wasted 6 hours driving there and back. On 23 Nov 2020 I dropped off my car at 11:30am for a 11:50 "appointment" to have a certified inspection done on my Durango. Typically when an appointment is made that tells me they're ready to receive my vehicle to have whatever work accomplished. By 4:30pm the next day the inspection still wasn't performed. They offered me a loaner so suffice until the car was ready but I was told it still wouldn't be ready for another 3 to 5 days! Be honest with your customers and be aware of what kind of work load your employees can handle. It's apparent they need more help at this location. Management may want to take a look at how lackluster they are at managing their service department in regards to the sheer volume of vehicles they're receiving for service. I was interested into possibly trading in my vehicle at this location and this experience tells me this isn't the location to go to. I will say, Conner who helped me was very helpful, answered all my questions and was very professional. read more

Bought what seemed like a nice truck at the end of February. I have only put about a thousand miles on it and have already taken it in 3 times. We brought our Sportage in for a security recall it is the 2nd one we have owned and until now we were going to buy nothing but KIAs because we like them but their service sucks! After we got our car back everything seemed ok for a couple of days until we went to use our Electric Starter as it was cold, we started the car but after about 30 seconds the horn started going off and the only way to stop it was to go out and put the key in the ignition, we thought we pushed the wrong button or something but after a few tries it was still doing the same thing, I'm sure my neighbors loved it at 6am, we called and took the car back in and were informed that there was nothing they could do and we should have been told when we made the appointment that if we had an electric start that would happen, they NEVER told me that and neither did the guy who works on Saturdays that we dealt with BOTH times (he is a smart mouth) even though I handed him the keys with an electric starter fob on it, they said I could BUY one of theirs, I said no you ruined mine why should I have to PAY for the one you ruined? I asked to speak to his boss he said O.K. and never got him/her he just came back spewing the same crap, I said that wasn't good enough then the smart mouth said he could SELL me a CAR with the upgrade and an Electric Starter in it, this dealership craps all over it's customers, don't buy a vehicle here once you walk out the door you're just a number to them that's now costing them! Jason C. is a rockstar! In my quest to find a good deal on Stinger GT2 I had to look far and wide. I was working with several dealerships, all of them were out of state and ranged from 4 to 6 hours away (Stingers are HARD to find!). Working with Al Serra and Jason was a win - win. They offered the best price and of all the other salespeople I was working with at the other dealerships, Jason was the most responsive and helpful. Even after 2 weeks of being bombarded with my texts as I did my research and asking a ton of questions, he was very professional and always responded in a timely manner. After a near 5 hour drive I expected to be at the dealership for 2-3 hours but Jason made the whole process fast and easy and I was out in less than 90 minutes and made it home for dinner! Made an appointment to have truck looked at due to a ticking sound. Was told it should be covered under warranty which it was, however, they "diagnosed" the shocks and stuts needing to be replace. the diagnosis cost $400! That was with no additional work being done. Not sure how they can justify that amount to simply look at the car especially since it was brought in due to another issue. Will no longer bring my vehicle here. read more

Had my lease for a little more than 3 months now but I personally only had it for around 10-15 days total because it's been in the shop. I got a new car lease for I would not have any worries or problems with a car but this car has been nothing but problems and they refuse to take it back. They told me they never head of a buyout or a buy back on a lease before and said there is no way of getting out of a lease, which is a lie. read more

Makes me wonder how a million dollar business is so incompetent they can't even schedule basic vehicle maintenance. I would give 0 stars if allowed. We were told our 2013 Optima needed a new turbo ($2800) after the check engine light came on for the second time in a week. We questioned why the turbo was not replaced at the time of the engine recall 18,000 miles prior. We were told the turbo is an accessory and not part of the engine. To add more insult to injury, Kia said they wouldn't replace or assist us with the cost as we were not loyal customers because we chose to have maintenance work (oil changes, brakes, front end etc.) done on our TWO Kias at another facility. Disgusted, we took the Optima to our trusted mechanic and were informed the turbo was fine. The rod just needed lubed and adjusted--cost $0. Needless to say, we will never buy another Kia or any other vehicle from Al Serra. read more

I purchased a vehicle in November from another dealer as I told myself I would never go to Al Serra or any of their affiliates. One day I get a code for an engine misfire and decide that it's better to take it a mile down the road to Al Serra than drive it to Ann Arbor. Worst mistake of my life. I had to take my vehicle in 3 times over the course of a month (having it for less than 48 hours total between those visits before the vehicle had issues again). I could justify bringing it in twice, since the first time a fuel injector failed. The second time, the other 3 failed. No one bothered to check as to why all of my injectors failed. Until the third time. My fuel was contaminated, when I questioned why no one bothered to check the failed injectors or fuel before I was told obnoxiously over and over on the phone by the import manager, Dan, "We have no reason to check the injectors unless all 4 fail at once." Well then I guess you'll never check since the chances of all 4 injectors on a vehicle failing at the same time are slim to none! But sequentially after 100 miles? That deserves a little more investigation. The first 2 appointments took over a week for the repairs to be complete (first one also required a new heating core and a couple other things I had been meaning to get checked) but the last one took SEVERAL WEEKS!!! After cleaning out my lines and tank my water pump somehow failed (I have strong feelings it's because they're service techs are nothing short of negligent in their work). Now I was supposed to pick it up on a Wednesday and had to call on Friday to figure out why no one had contacted me. Only then did they decide to inform me about the water pump (which was somehow warrantied and I wasn't going to be informed of, makes me think they know they broke it). Best of all? I got in my vehicle when I finally went to pick it up and someone pulled my roof liner out of place. They tried to blame it on the frame of the sunroof but I've had the car for 6 months and never had the issue. I wish they would own up to their mistakes rather than trying to pawn off the issues on the manufacturer or literally anyone else (including the owner). But now I'm writing this review because my heat shield is improperly attached! My mechanic told me (who I have been going to for years and who has never steered me wrong) that it wasn't properly torqued down after the repairs. I can't wait to call and hear what excuse they have cooked up! read more

Apparently I'm not the only one! I am beyond disgusted right now!!! Al Serra is a joke! I took my AUDI A4 vehicle there because it had been hit and they were the closest VW service center to do the repairs by my insurance. Since they have the service center there we had asked them to do an oil change. Mind you my car was perfectly fine and ran perfect when I drove it in there. I get the car back and 4 days later my EPC light started flashing and the car started bogging saying low oil pressure. Took it back to Al Serra and the CHEVY service did my oil change and put in DEXOS GM oil and also didn't fill it all the way. So they first say there is metal in the gas and I have bad gas, then they say oops nope we found metal contaminants in the oil we need to do a flush. Curtis @ the VOLKSWAGEN service center stated that CHEVY should have never touched my car because they have the oil specifically for Audi. So I pay for the flush when I shouldn't have. I get my car back, have it another 4 days and EPC light comes on and Engine light and says drain oil. Have it towed back to them and they keep bullshitting me and said they will give me a quote for a new engine it's the timing and pump and needs a new engine. Then I explain that they caused this by wrong oil and not filling it all the way. He says he is going to talk to a VW engineer. He comes back after and says the Engineer states that that wrong oil didn't cause this to happen. I said did you tell him you didn't fill it all the way either?! You guys have a bad rep of ruining people's cars after oil changes! I've seen the reviews. You keep Coming back with different answers. You're going to fix this! He said he will call me back today. Well he did and he says they are confident that wasn't the issue. So they are not responsible!!!! They are ‼ responsible for this!!! First he denied that it was low until I called him out yesterday ans he said oh it's written here. He then said you brought the car in and it was low. I said YES 4 days after you had it the first time! He said well you drove it 552 miles. I said it has no leaks! It wouldn't lose that much oil! The oil only need to be changed ever 10,000 miles not 5,000 like you said and even then it wouldn't have lost that much oil, so you're full of shit! You ruined my car! My insurance comany will be calling you! I will not pay for this! You will! read more

Awful experience. We had set an appointment to view a SUV with a specific price. Once we got there, the price had jumped up over $3,000. And, the salesman brought the vehicle up for us to look at and test drive. Before we could take it for a drive, he informed us it had been sold. This was all in a matter of 10 minutes. We believe he just had no interest in dealing with us at all. We purchased a car from them before and that is the reason we went back. First time, we had a great experience. Like many of the other reviews here, PLEASE do not go to Al Serra. We have had 2 vehicles there for service/repairs and both times had to take the vehicles back several times for additional repairs. My husband's VW was in a bad front end accident, after replacing the radiator, three times we had to take it back for them to add coolant. They said they did not know it had to be primed through the system. Aren't they an authorized dealer?! Took a 2018 in for a new transmission and somehow they broke the sunroof. (They should not have touched it!) Now fighting with that! Please, please, please go anywhere else! ok want to give an update.. they did call me about my sunroof and said since the car was BARELY out of warranty, GM would cover half of it and Al Serra would cover the other half. So after that repair is done I'll post another update and hopefully that should take care of all the issues with that car! read more

I have a bit of advice for anyone who is choosing to purchase a used vehicle from Al Serra, make sure you have the vehicle inspected. Do not trust that they have done a thorough job and DO NOT believe them when they tell you that you're covered by the extended warranty. Two weeks ago I purchased a 2014 Jeep Wrangler with 61,000 miles. We drove 300 miles and there simply wasn't anyway to have it inspected by our mechanic, so we took a chance and trusted them. Big mistake. Al Serra was the servicing dealer for the last few years on this Jeep, so they know every little detail about it. 4 days after we purchased it, we noticed a serious oil leak. We took it in to our local dealer and were told that the oil filter adapter housing is leaking. Pictures were sent to the warranty company and it was determined that based on the extent of the damage, it could not have happened in the time frame of us buying it and reporting the issue. The warranty company won't touch it and tell me that Al Serra should have fixed this prior to ever selling the Jeep and that there is absolutely no way they didn't know there was an issue. It's been nothing but crickets from Al Serra. The salesman said he would talk with his managers, but I have heard NOTHING from anyone since that email earlier this week. So buyer beware, I would never purchase a vehicle from them again, and I certainly will never recommend them. They do not stand behind the sale. read more

Not too keen on this repair center these days. I took my wife's car in for a repair and she nearly had an accident with it immediately afterward thanks to haphazard, slipshod repairs. The mechanics forgot to tighten the bolts, lug nuts or whatever on the car and she drove off without myself or her realizing it. The tire started to come loose and the wheel practically fell off the car. I tried to complain at the time, but I never managed to speak to anyone who didn't pass the buck. Lame! The wheel/tire wasn't loose before. It was simply the laziness of the repair tech. There's no way we will be back. They've done both good and not so great repair work for us in the past, but this was too much. There's no excuse. I'll go somewhere else for any repairs. read more

Purchased my vehicle here & have had it in for service 3 times in 2 years. I made an appointment for an oil change, tire rotation, check my shaky brakes & check engine light was on. I dropped it off at 730am & got a ride to work. By 6pm the work still wasnt done. Over 10 hours?! They advised me my rim was busted & I needed 2 new tires which may stop the brakes from shaking. I declined the service based on the fact that I had already had that rim fixed by them & wanted to check the warranty info. 1 week later I've had to fill this tire twice a day with air as now it's constantly leaking. I had called Al Serra & inquired about the situation / warranty & was advised that the Management Dept was having a meeting that day about it & they would get back with me on a decision. It's been 5 days & I still have not received a call. I ended up taking my vehicle elsewhere only to be advised that the inside of my tire was pinched & shredded on the rim (their words) and that I should not have been driving on it. If it was that bad I'm disappointed that Al Serra didnt advise me not to drive on it. Also, my brakes still shake and that check engine light came back on after 2 days. They know I'm out there driving around on this broken rim & cant even give me the courtesy of a call even if it is to say the rim will not be covered. Had an "appointment" to drop my truck off Because of noise in the front end. The next day I called and no one has even touched it....the following day they first said we needed new tires (which we just bought 4 new tires a week before), then they said it was the drive shaft, and then it was a wheel bearing. We were told they can't find the part so we can pick up the truck and they would call us when the part came in. It has been 4 weeks and we can't get them to take our call or call us back. We took the truck to a local shop...they replaced the wheel bearing and had the truck back the next day!!! Very poor Customer Service!! read more

I was warned by my father not to purchase a vehicle from al Serra auto plaza. He had problems when he bought his Kia trying to get a second key. I went ahead and bought my Silverado there anyway. I was told I would get 4 free oil changes with my truck being certified preowned. I went and got my first one today and was told I only get 2. I know other people that bought certified preowned Silverados from other dealers and they've got 4 free oil changes. Then when taking my truck off of the lift they popped one of my tires. They replaced it, but now I have three tires with different tread. I would not recommend al Serra auto plaza. Should have stayed with hank graff. read more
