He was very careful to indicate that he didn't want to add anything unnecessary to the point where I was like, no no... please tell me all the things that need to be fixed. In fact, I wish we had fixed even more unnecessary parts of the fence, but he cares deeply about the budget and savings and pointed out which things are great to fix now and which can wait. He was incredibly honest. To make matters better, he came in at a lower price than the other quotes I received, AND he was willing to schedule work immediately (pending mandatory utility checks). My house is in Vienna, VA, and his brother Edwin, who partners with him, came out and did most of the work. They work together. His brother is super kind and patient, and even decided to work on a day with temperatures surpassing mid-90s. Pro-tip: Leave out some cold drinks for your contractors on hot days. In fact, they even added a few extra bonus fixes for me since I had a few rotten fence caps, and he made the broken fence posts look perfect. When the inevitable other parts of my fence start rotting, I'm calling Jose right away.

I was recommended Universal Fence LLC, they were professional, easy to communicate with, and completed the installation quickly with great quality. We wanted a large chain linked fence area for a chicken run…read more And as I mentioned to Joe of the problems we needed to solve, he said he could build us a little wood retaining wall, would weld a chain link fence over the top too, and build tunnel from the run into the gated area. Struck me as an eager problem solver. He really did a good job of it over all. The wooden retaining wall wasn't perfect though, like they didn't put a gravel bed down first which AFAIK is usually done. And oddly the sides were built with the angle of the hill slope vs building the side level with the back as it probably should have been (level with the back, then level up to front tapper of a downward slope). Although it added some wacky charm to it which fits our custom chicken coup anyhow. The whole chain linked fence with welded top (of crossmembers and chain link) is great, the tunnel was way better than expected (very study and solid). But I'll take one point off for: A) I wish Joe was a more communicative over the build period, and B) He charged almost double the VA legal max for the deposit. Overall he did good by us and happy we chose Joe to do this work.

JOE is a fraud. We paid $4800 for an elegant arch fence but he installed an extremely cheap fence and hope we didn't notice. The worse part about him was he didn't even think about asking for our approval. He just installed another gate because "How would a woman notice?" We have text messages and photos of him showing us the gate we approved, but then he installed another. Who cheats families like this? Furthermore, when we sent an email with all the photo and text message evidence, he called us crazy and said it was a "pretty" fence and he made a "mistake" by installing another fence. For a man that has been in business for 33 years, that's not a mistake. When he finally cowardly admitted he made a mistake and he re-ordered it on August 1- he kept telling us it will be here in 2 weeks... 2 weeks go by and he avoids our calls and communications. With over 8 attempts to collect proof that he ordered the correct fence we paid for (which turned out to be $990.00) to which we charged us $4800, the supplier- Iron Mountain- confirmed that he JUST made the order on August 18th. When I confronted him on this, he called me a child and said he would come to my office to "discuss". Why would he think it is okay to persuade me that I am wrong when I paid him in full $14,000 worth to install a cheap gate and he's avoiding correcting his mistake. JOE is a fraud. not one word in his mouth is true. He is a shady contractor and I urge all families out there to take caution of Kidwell Fencing. In addition to my gate, I had them complete my fence mind you it's only 293 ft of 4 board padlock with wire mesh and that took his team nearly 4 weeks to complete. The issues arose when his team only worked 4 hours a day, left a colossal mess with their personal garbage including watermelon everywhere, and the worse was when they kept driving over my septic tank when my husband told them not to. The pure disrespect and unprofessionalism. Note, I am a contractor and I own a federal construction company and it's companies like Kidwell Fencing that gives us a bad name. Joe is a duplicitous con man.

This past Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday, my wife and I came home from celebrating between 6-7PM. As we entered our house, just as we stepped inside we heard an explosive crash. Immediately we thought someone had driven into our garage door, and it had fallen on our car. Somewhat of a relief, when we opened the door back into the garage, snapped cables were evident, and the door could not be lifted. We debated whether or whom to call knowing that no one would be working over the Holiday. So we began an AI search of regional garage door repair companies. After an exhaustive search we homed in on Door Serv Pro---their customer reviews, their standing with the BBB and rankings in several regional publications were encouraging. We gave a call fully anticipating that a recorded voice mail would be encountered. Instead Riley picked up the phone and very cheerfully greeted us. Frankly we were immediately shocked that a real human being would be manning the phone over the Holiday! After describing our situation (we were unable to exit the garage in an emergency) she first re-assured us that we were very very lucky that the door missed our car by inches. Second, she said Door Serv could get someone out the next day but there would be Holiday Service charge and that frankly, if we were able to wait till Tuesday, she could have one of their best techs at our place almost O-Dark Early Tuesday. Adam and Dylan arrived first thing Tuesday; we were smart to wait. Adam is the Service Manager with 16 years of garage door repair experience. Dylan is a young and capable apprentice. They knew exactly what to do. TOTAL PROFESSIONALS. They communicated throughout their door exam and recommended a course of action. Yes, they were not the least expensive; however two of our neighbors just recently and took "the least expensive" firm and regretted it (had to repeat the repairs with other firms!) Adam and Dylan are quite the team: highly knowledgeable, immaculate in their work, and a pleasure to have repairing what could have been a disaster. Not only are they personable, they made certain they cleaned up everything, and removed the debris/leaves in our garage! Within a day their team notified us to make sure we were pleased....we cannot lavish more praise on Door Serv--- we took a shot and they hit the mark. WHAT A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH A FIRM THAT IS NOT ONLY COMPETENT, BUT UNDERSTANDS SOLID CUSTOMER SERVICE. I would give them 10 STARS IF ABLE!

After explaining to the young lady, "Maddie," on the phone that I only needed the torsion springs replaced and provided precise measurements for the parts, she said no problem. Our technicians are fully stocked and can replace them on-site if I agree to the price. Once the technicians arrived, they examined everything and stated that they would have to install a conversion kit. However, this was not what I had requested nor what Maddie had suggested could be done. The conversion kit parts and labor would cost just over $1,200.00, sir. Unfortunately, the complete conversion kit costs $287.00, and the total labor hours are limited to two hours. Therefore, $1,200.00 minus the parts ($287.00) equals $913.00. Subtracting the labor (2 hours) from $913.00 gives us $456.50 per hour. I'm sorry, but that's certainly not good business practice. And certainly not what an average garage technician gets paid even if you split the 456.50 between the techs. 228.25/ hr is still nowhere near what garage techs get paid around this area. Made a call as soon as they left to another company "The door guy" same kit , same service $636.00 after parts labor and taxes.
