My roof was pushing 30, so old that even my insurance company was complaining about it (and…read moresurcharging me for it). A friend recommended ProSquad Roofing, so I called for a quote. Chris's initial inspection showed he was highly knowledgeable, and his estimate was so competitive and the online reviews so good that I signed up straight away. Not only did Chris not try to up-sell me, he actually "down-sold" me: A friend had told me I should install an ice shield all the way from the gutter to the peak, but Chris said that was almost always an unnecessary add-on promoted by unscrupulous roofers to pad their profit margins. Chris was involved in the project from start to finish and kept me apprised the entire time. His squad of eight was amazingly efficient, completing the entire project - removing old shingles, replacing rotted rake boards, ice shielding, flashing, edging, and shingling -- in an incredible 4.5 hours, while leaving my yard pristine and my new roof looking great. I highly and without reservation recommend Chris and his ProSquad team.

We got timely and knowledgeable responses and were SO impressed with the efficiency of the team and the quality of their work. Chris is as reliable as they come. We absolutely love our new roof and will use ProSquad for all of our future projects! Highly recommend!!

After reading Ginger's review (see below) I see strong similarities between our experience and realize that I was overly-generous in my original review. We gave Mike a deposit to cover 2 small tasks for the roof. He completed one, couldn't do the other. KEPT THE ENTIRE DEPOSIT! After accepting our deposit, but before figuring out he had mis-estimated the job and his ability, he had one excuse after another for coming very late, not showing up at all, and bringing his girl friend and toddler to "help."

Mike Kemp required a sizable down payment and showed up 2 months later randomly. When job required…read moreextensive unforeseen structural repairs - I needed to know new costs before continuing- it took over a month to get a new estimate. Original deposit was not factored in although materials were not purchased and labor costs did not come close to being utilized. Even without these major and costly issues, Mike's work habits were unreliable and unprofessional. Numerous excuses for not starting, not being available and not showing up to work when planned. These excuses lead to delays and possible future issues and costs with structural exposure caused by partial siding removal going into winter. As a widowed senior, I trusted him and lost a substantial amount of money and am now forced to seek legal action, which will be an additional expense.

Gabe, the project manager from Top Notch Roofing was the most professional so we chose them to replace our roof in May. Throughout the process Gabe has been great about keeping us informed. Andrew, the foreman is knowledgeable and oversaw a crew of 14 who tore off the old roof and replaced it in one day! The clean up afterwards was thorough around the exterior of the house and driveway. We made the right choice and are very happy with our beautiful new roof. Nancy Rampala Cahlin St. Albans, VT

During that time, Top Notch Roofing caused our home to flood, causing the bedroom ceiling to collapse and requiring full insulation and ceiling replacement. The living room developed two additional leaks due to their shoddy work, which meant more ceiling repairs and repainting the entire open-concept space. Our front yard was left destroyed after equipment and materials sat there for over 90 days. It wasn't just a mess; the material sat there for an entire summer; killing our lawn in the process. The crew was inconsistent at best; often no-shows, with little to no cleanup when they did come. When asked, they said they were from "Lowell"; which we assumed was local (Lowell, VT), but it turned out they were commuting from Lowell, MA. To our house in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Gabe and Drew built porch stairs that weren't up to code. When Dave, the owner, finally came to assess their work, he made them tear it out and rebuild it, but not before we were treated to the comedy gold that was Drew jumping up and down on the steps in an attempt to prove they were "fine." Dave also made everybody clean up the front yard, which took close to two hours between four people (Drew, Gabe, Jessica, Dave). Despite claiming on their website to be "fully insured," we learned that their insurance only covers subcontractors, not their own crew. So any work performed by Gabe or Drew or supervised by them isn't covered. Their own insurance company assessed $86,000 in damages to our home, and those are just the parts they acknowledged. After two rounds of "repairs" by a different crew, Dave parted with the words, "We can't do any better." I'll let the photos speak for themselves. TopNotch? More Bottom of the Barrel
