Don't you dare close your eyes! No, you don't need to take your magic carpet to Agrabah - Aladdin's just opened in Over-the-Rhine! With so many vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options it's just like magic (no lamp required). I started out with the falafels. This might be the street rat in me, but they tasted like hush puppies (except, you know, with beautiful minced tomato garnish and made of chickpeas)... they were fit for the sultan himself! Next time I'm bringing Abu with me and I'm getting the full size. For the main dish I went with Jasmine's favorite: vegetables, brown rice and homemade hot sauce with shish kebob. Raja would have approved: the steak was tender and a high quality cutlet. Delicious. They make a really nice and fragrant spearmint house tea, which was perfect for this snowy, cold Arabian night. If Prince Ali hadn't wasted his last wish on freeing the genie he probably would have used it on one of the happy hour drinks. I got a $5 long island: strong enough to knock Jafar out cold. Next time I am going for the Baklava martini - I just couldn't possibly try everything on my first visit. Just because it hasn't had a huge fanfare OTR opening doesn't mean you shouldn't check out Aladdin's pronto. For now (but inevitably not for long): it's a diamond in the rough. read more

I'm in town on business and everyone at my work has raved about this place. When I was here in November, I actually stopped in and grabbed a quick wrap because I could smell the delicious cooking from across the street while chilling on the rooftop patio of my office. As enjoyable as the takeout was, I'm especially glad I chose to dine in today. I had the Jasmine's Favorite plate topped with Chicken Mishwi and a hot mint tea and both were just phenomenal. The food is out-of-this-world excellent. And the service was just as stellar. My waitress, Emma, was super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. In fact, every member of the staff I interacted with or observed had such great, positive energy. I was really impressed. I'll be back again and again any time I'm in Cincy. What a great night. My friend and I celebrated Christmas with a fantastic meal. We started with the sampler with was hummus tabouli baba gannouj falafel and dawali which is stuffed grape leaves. This is an introduction to Mediterranean food. We then decided on pita pitzas which is pizza on pita bread I had the Greek pitza which was feta cucumber tomatoes kalamata olives so good. My friend had farmers market pitza which is homemade garlic sauce with spinach squash zucchini mushrooms peas and cheddar cheese. Everything was delicious. A very stylish and delicous spot to eat a healthy meal. We stopped by before walking the Final Friday gallery tours and we loved our meal. It's so easy to over do it when eating out, especially if you are trying to eat healthy low(er) calorie meals. Aladdin's makes it easy and delicous - and the servers are more than happy to help out and give suggestions. A truly wonderful experience. Oh, and the hummus. The HUMMUS!!! Unplanned dinner stop, so glad we ventured in. We went out to explore in hopes of finding something different and new to us. We ventured OTR to find something with outside seating, alcohol and good vegan options and BOOM we found Aladdin's. Met by an associate immediately upon entering. We asked to see a menu and he not only handed us both menus, but took the time to explain the entire menu to us. This was over the top customer service. Based on this service and what we saw on the menu we elected to grab a spot on the very hip patio. Our server was great, the food quick and tasty the prices for OTR we normal. I'll start by saying this place has something on the menu for EVERY eater whether your Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten Free, Meatetarian, etc.. I stumbled into this place searching for somewhere to have dinner my last night in town for business that had Vegan options and that wasn't one of the many amazing Vegan places I've already visited over the past couple months visiting CinCii for business. This place popped up and I checked out some fellow Yelpers reviews, checked out some photos of the dishes and read the online version of the menu. It was a No Brainer for me to check this place out for dinner. Upon entering the space is very open and nice. I was greeted by the waitress and she was pleasant and let me choose wherever I wanted to sit as I was there pretty early maybe 5:20pm as I try to have dinner before 6pm. I took a two seater to the left of the entrance and sat in the seat facing the bar. The waitress came immediately and provided me with some food insight after I shared how overwhelmed I was with the menu in a GOOD WAY. The menu is pretty extensive and labeled great per section. There are also letters near certain dishes such as VG = Vegan, V = Vegetarian, G = Gluten Free, etc.. my server informed me that I can make any dish Vegetarian or Vegan which was a extra Plus Plus Plus. She suggested for my drink the ZaaTaria which was a Lebanese take on a Margarita with additions such as lemon butters, blackberry lavender and more. The drink was tasty very light not much liquor used in my option as it was more refreshing than "that was perfect for a long day and I need a drink" . My dish was amazingly fresh and fulfilling. I got the Jasmine Favorite plate Lebanese . When I tell you it was amazing I mean it, I'm talking about full of flavor and again FRESH the cold veggies were so good. There was Vegan dirty rice, chickpeas, kidney beans, sweet potato chunks and so much more. The photo shows the variation. Definitely coming back to this place when in town. The only thing I was annoyed about was the fact that my server didn't mention happy hour to me as I would've take advantage of the specials from drinks to entrees I enjoy a deal. I ordered at around 5:50pm and at about 6pm when she brought out my drink and I had time to look around and read items on the walls and the document on the tables I noticed that Happy Hour was from 3pm - 6pm Monday - Friday. I made mention to her and she apologized and told me that she has never worked during those hours so she forgot. THIS PLACE WAS AMAZING. Dined at Aladdin's on Saturday night at 7 PM. Made a reservation prior, but probably would have been able to be seated no problem - the place was crowded but not full. The one cool thing about making a reservation was that our table had a "Reserved' sign and we were given a booth so definitely if that is your preferred seating, make a reservation! It was both of our first times dining at Aladdin's and we had a water and waitress in training - we asked them for recommendations on EVERYTHING and they were so helpful and provided us with some great recos. To start I ordered the Zaatarita (tequila based drink) and my boyfriend the drink special they had going on that day (rum based). My boyfriend's drink came in THE coolest cup/bowl situation I have ever seen in Cincinnati. Both drinks had strong flavor and were perfect summer cocktails. We did not know what appetizer to get so our waitress suggested the Vegetarian Combo ($14) and we were so thankful she did! The sampler platter came with Hummus, Tabouli, Baba Gannouj, Falafel, and Dawali - all SO YUMMY. The Baba Gannouj was to die for, the Falafel perfect, and the Dawali so tasty! We made the mistake of not asking them to space out the appetizer and main food deliveries and our main food came EXCEPTIONALLY fast after our appetizer. We both got Rolled Pitas per the recommendations of the staff - I got the Chicken Curry Rolled and my boyfriend the Chicken Dijon Rolled (~$7 each). I do have to say both were tasty, but mine was definitely better - the extra add-ins of curry flavoring on the chicken, sweet peas, banana peppers, cheddar, and Honey Dijon dressing to the pita really made a HUGE difference versus the regular Chicken Dijon roll. Thankfully our appetizer was mostly cold items so having it sit while we ate our warm rolls was fine - we ended up not even finishing the appetizer as it was so much food all together. I need to add in that the service here was outstanding - there were SO MANY STAFF MEMBERS - it was hard to be forgotten - water refilled instantly, more napkins delivered so quickly, etc. Definitely next time I want to leave some room to try some of the delicious looking desserts they have in the front cases - however at the same time - we left feeling full, but not unhealthy or gross after this meal - not something you get at many restaurants. Additionally: We used our Cincy Savers ($30 gift card) during this meal and they seamlessly accepted it. Good service and everyone was nice and accommodating. Food was good and lots of options. Big portions. I liked their hot sauce - good flavor but wished for just a tad more kick. But that's just me. I had the veggie pitza and no complaints. Baba ganoush was solid- did hope for a warm thicker pita. Theirs are basically a thick version of a paper towel but maybe the Lebanese version is typically thinner. My boyfriend had the lamb plate and said it was cooked well but just but needed more flavor. In Arabic, the name Aladdin means "nobility of faith" but it is probably most associated with the book Arabian Nights or Disney's rendition of a story of a boy who escapes a magical cave with the help of a genie. If Aladdin somehow decided to open an eatery and lounge using his three wishes, they would be: 1) A wish for an excellent location that is conveniently placed near shops, galleries, a music venue, and downtown. It's A Whole New World in OTR! 2) A wish for an extensive menu filled with many healthy options so you can stay One Jump Ahead. 3) A wish for a large bar with excellent cocktails (and smoothies) for all of those Arabian Nights. You can almost hear Robin Williams cry out "You ain't never had a friend like me!" (sorry Will Smith). All of these wishes are true of Aladdin's Eatery + Lounge. After a half-dozen visits trying something from nearly every section of the menu (every appetizer they offer, happy hour, rice dishes, salads, pitas, etc.) I've found that the found is consistently good, filling but light, and filled with flavor. Both their garlic and hot sauces are fantastic - request it and put it on everything, including your soups. Prince Ali would approve. Some of my favorite dishes include their signature hummus and dawali (rolled grape leaves), the genie's combo plate, and chicken mishwi salad (more flavor than the slightly dry than the tawook salad). The soups are excellent too - though fair warning: you get a large bowl, not some small cup that is expected of most restaurants. OK, so maybe the Aladdin soundtrack references don't make a great restaurant review - but if you decide to eat here, you'll find something magical and musical indeed. read more

The perfect lunch spot in OTR that I can't wait to visit again! We had our dog downtown on a very nice sunny day and they saved us come lunch time by letting and encouraging us to eat on their patio. They were at least as excited to have our dog there as we were, which was so welcoming. The service was great, very attentive, and made sure everything was perfect. The hummus was delicious and you get a lot of pita (dog approved since we had no treats) and the spicy cauliflower appetizer. It's actually a 3.5! Now, I love Mediterranean food and I've been a zillion times to the Hyde Park location, and a couple times to the West Chester one. Safe to say, I love Alladin's. So, one thing to note- I picked up food, so I didn't experience the sitting and dining bit here. The location and interiors look very chic, as it's a relatively new addition to OTR, so it could be good. I got the Lamb rolled pita. My friend wanted the falalels with tahini sauce. And we also got the baklava assortment platter. The roll was okay- just okay. It had a lot of tomatoes which I didn't like, and it's weird because I didn't know they had tomatoes. The falalel was good, however the pita bread was really soggy and hard. Such a drastic difference to what I'm used to. The baklavas were good, however I'm pretty sure that these aren't made here because my friend got the exact same ones as these from a store at 1/3rd the price. Overall- the experience was okay. I missed the fresh pastries that the Hyde Park location has, which I couldn't order here. Also, while ordering online, there was a charge for the garlic sauce (something that's just handed out, dining in Hyde Park). read more

If you are looking for delicious quick serve Mediterranean food, this is the spot. The dolmades are delicious, the falafel is well seasoned, and everything tastes quite fresh. The menu is vast and can fulfill any craving from carnivore to vegetarian. The pita is warm and fluffy, if a little on the bland side, but the hummus is out of this world tasty. My go to is the veggie dolmades and falafel wrap. Not a bad price and the portions are giant. A great place to take friends who are interested in trying out new cuisine, but have sensitive tastebuds. I also tried their catering service- hummus plate and dolmades. I can highly recommend this service as a superior alternative to veggie or cheese trays. They also provide all the plates/cutlery/napkins. Win! Win! read more

Stopped by here tonight. Was excited to try the place because the interior was so clean and neat. We got a falafel sandwich as well as a Mixed Combo Plate which includes Kebab, Kufta & Chicken. Firstly the chicken was very dry as was the kebab, as if it had been sitting for quite some time. Secondly, we very specifically asked for the Kufta meat to be cooked well done because we have 2 children eating from this plate & this is what we were served. Of course they were closed by the time we got to the hotel and got into our food. Very disappointed, this is just unacceptable to serve to somebody, we could've all gotten sick. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place at all. Should you decide to take the risk then make sure you take it upon yourself to check every piece of food before you walk out of the restaurant. read more

After a long time of having Aladdin's on my list, I met some folks for a lunchtime meeting and finally got to indulge. The aesthetics of the restaurant is contemporary and welcoming and the staff was equally as warm. One of the first things you'll notice is that the menu is big! It almost reminded me of a cheesecake factory menu. We started with some classic hummus. The presentation was great and the hummus was tasty. I ordered the Aladdin's lamb rolled pita (Fire-grilled tender lamb seasoned with herbs and spices topped with tomatoes, onions, greens, turnips, pickles, and Tahini Yogurt dressing). It came out in a foil wrapper, which definitely took me by surprise. Don't judge a book by it's cover (or foil wrapper). The menu was very reasonably priced and the portions were perfect for lunch. So I'm updating my review...from a 2 to a 3. Again I ordered takeout. Initially they gave me a beef Shwarma instead of the chicken ordered. I caught it before leaving. I thought the portion size was small on everything, especially the $13.95 lamb dish, but it was flavorful. I really appreciate a good hummus, theirs was okay, it lacked flavor. C'Mon Man! This place is the Best. Lebanese curry chicken pita hold the tomatoes with their spicy sauce was fantastic. My buddy got shawarma and we had fries and hummus with more Bread! Just gonna be straight up -- I was expecting more. My first thought when going into Aladdin's was...feels like a chain, and I later found out it was. I'm not against chain restaurants, but I don't particularly enjoy them either. Especially when I'm in OTR, I guess I assume I'm getting local automatically. That aside, I didn't hate Aladdin's, and it's a place to check out...especially for Mediterranean food! I love me some hummus and falafel! I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Rolled Pita with a side of falafel and was not disappointed. Priced fairly as well. Overall, I probably will not return to Aladdin's. Considering the location and price, I just feel as if I could get better, more local, food in the area. It's worth trying out, but don't get your hopes up! read more

Aladdin's Eatery is very good! I've been to the one is West Chester several of times. This location and the one in West Chester are owned by the same people. This location as the others is a sit down restaurant. However, what is unique about this location compared to the others is it is the only one with a bar and outdoor patio in the back. Because of where this Eatery is located it has more of a modern downtown feel. I came here with Tiff D. doing a partnership with our blog. Along with the other dishes I have tried at the West Chester location, this visit allowed us to try different yummy dishes than what we normally order. Their menu is full of Lebanese dishes. Pitas, wraps, rolls, entrees, you name it and they have it. Tiff and I got to try the Chicken Pitza, Hummus, and the Chicken Sambusek Plate. CHICKEN PITZA - OMG!! This chicken Pitza was amazing! I had never had it until now and boy was I missing out. It comes with Honey Dijon dressing and our homemade Garlic Sauce topped with chopped grilled chicken, green peppers, and diced scallions. We added fried onions. Delicious is what this is! Definitely try it and add fried onions. HUMMUS - Their award winning hummus is super yummy! It's made in house during a three day process for each batch. I'm not a hummus lover, but I'm a hummus eater. Meaning I will eat hummus if it's in front of me, but I don't crave it nor do I buy it at the store. This hummus was actually very good and tasty. If you are a hummus lover you will really enjoy their hummus. CHICKEN SAMBUSEK PLATE - This dish was out of the norm for Tiff and I. We decided to order a dish that neither one of us had ever tried during our many visits to an Aladdin's Eatery. This plate consisted of Savory curried chicken, onions, sweet peas, herbs, and spices folded into a pita pie and topped with tomatoes and scallions. Served with greens, tomatoes, mushrooms, and calamata olives. Choice of dressing. Although it was different it was very tasty. Especially with a little of their hot sauce on top. If you are familiar with this food item or Lebanese food in general, I think you would enjoy it. I had no clue to what it was and I liked it. Overall, Aladdin's Eatery is always good! If you want something different in taste but still has familiar ingredients give them a try. Although they are a franchise in the Ohio area, they are very good and have a mom and pop taste to their food. Our experience here was amazing and we will definitely be back. Came here on a Saturday for a late dinner with a group of 5. I had been to another location and had a good experience so was interested to try this one! I love the decor and atmosphere inside. It is bright and modern with plenty of different seating options. We were waited on fairly quickly, and our orders came out fairly quickly. I split the hummus shawarma plate with my friend. The meat was very tasty, as was the hummus, however there was definitely not enough pita bread to hummus ratio. Overall it was a generous portion. This place is a staple for my household. The food is always great quality, great variety, at approachable prices. We frequent the location in Hyde park (if only just for takeout hummus [AMAZING] and their spicy cauliflower [THE BOMB]), but I figured I'd check out the OTR location as well. It's awesome! This was my first time at an Aladdin's Eatery. My parents have gone to their other locations. The one in OTR just opened a few weeks ago. We sat outside in their patio in the back. The space is cover by large umbrellas so you can sit back there rain of shine. I shared the Vegetarian combo appetizer which included a mixture of hummus, baba gannouj, tabouli, falafel and dawali. I really liked their falafel. Not overly spiced and really great texture inside as out. I got the Aladdin's favorite combo. If I did a blind taste test, I don't think I could tell the difference between the beef kafta (which is more like a meatball) and the shish kabob. Chicken was ok. Not too memorable. If I were to order again, I think I would have gotten the lamb plate. Garlic sauce is amazing with everything. read more

My lady friends and I ate here twice during our stay. There was a large selection of vegan, gluten free and other options here. The menu was overall healthy. The hummus appetizer was smooth and appropriately thick plus they gave us vegetables instead of bread upon request. My salads and soups were both delicious.
