What an Alameda gem! I highly recommend ACSC summer camp. The program is fun, challenging, confidence building and has a great community feeling . The kids really learn how to sail in a safe and friendly environment. What a great summer experience! I appreciate the careful thought and passion Emily and staff put into this program. I also think they do a great job of making sure everyone is safe (crucial for a boating program) and emphasizing the importance of water safety. My kids have participated in A LOT of day camps over the years. I think this is my favorite because they're outside all day learning new skills while having a blast.

Sailing. A habit men often develop in their prime to attract women. Unless it's taught at a young age to little girls and boys, who would then grow up to be skilled sailers and take their parents on a large boat, have all the know-how's, and point them to all the sea creatures they have previously found in their solo trips. I always had mixed feelings about sailing. In that sailing is a white man's sport. It gives those who can and own sail boats a slight edge in a competitive dating world. On occasion some white woman will take on the same sport, either her family owned sail boats or her significant other did. As a young woman, I had met many of these people, and my stories are outside of Yelp review guidelines and irrelevant for this purpose, but it's important because it is a personal experience, taken place years and years ago, and only invoked by this new experience. Last weekend was the open sailing day. Kids ranging between the age of 10 and 14 were out there showing off their two week sailing lessons. I was on a little boat, my captain was a confident 10 year old boy who had previously sailed on his own to the Hornet. He was experienced and perfectly calm, he had gone from zero experience to a talented sailor in two weeks. The 13 year old charted a bigger boat, she took her granny and uncle on a nice trip on the bay. This was made all possible by this wonderful community based sailing center, that has been around for a number of years, and they teach children real life skills and confidence to master something most adults can't even do. All in a very relaxed, fun, and beautiful island environment that could be mistaken to be Hawaii (when the weather cooperates, as was the case over last few weeks). While on the bay, your children will be pleasantly surprised by such a cute (and a bit smelly) seal island filled with seals. And if you were as lucky as me, you'd have a bunch of them chasing around the boat, playing hide and seek with you the whole time as you are headed to the bay. Catch me if you can.

They quickly changed out his reel and gave him pointers on where to fish. Here's where the story gets better: That afternoon my grandson tried to cast and his line became a complete tangle. We went back to West Marine and were helped once again by Thai. He proceeded to very patiently untangle and restring the line. He tested it and once again gave my grandson instructions on how to prevent line tangles, how to fix, how to do test drops. I am truly thankful and impressed by how well we were treated at West Marine. Thank you Thai for your outstanding customer service.

I was trying to place an order for my employer online, and the order kept getting rejected for some unknown reason. When I tried calling the corporate customer service number, the message informed me there is no help available over the phone, and to use their chat feature instead. I tried the chat feature, and the agent told me to try the transaction again. I did, and again the order did not process successfully. I thought I'd try my luck with speaking with someone at the local store, so I called the Alameda location and was lucky enough to get Leparish on the phone. He diligently worked on troubleshooting with me, confirmed there was indeed some issue with the payment processing, and instead of waiting on corporate to hopefully resolve it, he went ahead and packed up the items I needed right there at the store himself, and scheduled a shipment to my employer. He made sure I had all the pertinent order information I needed in my inbox before I got off the phone. He was helpful, patient, and courteous. Customer service like this is a rarity these days. Huge kudos to Leparish, thank you so much for your help in resolving a frustrating situation. This is what great service looks like. West Marine, fix your ordering issues, and give this man a raise!

This praise is for Arin Jeffers - a truly amazing broker and a wonderful human being!…read more I just bought an AMAZING Tayana 37 Pilothouse, "Bella Brisa", that was listed at Atomic Tuna yachts! She is in amazing condition - the credit for this goes to the previous owner Mr. Warner - he is another amazing individual! But THIS write-up is about Arin... From the very beginning, Arin has been nothing but STELLAR! When the yacht I wanted to look at was already sold, he recognized my desires immediately and encouraged me to look at Bella. As I said, she turned out to be the nicest boat of her age I have EVER seen (and I've seen a LOT of them). As I could tell from the listing that she would be something unique, I asked Arin for the earliest date possible to see her - August 9th (2025). When that day came, Arin moved items around in his schedule to accommodate me, and met me at the pier exactly as he had promised. He recognized that I was someone who needed time alone to look things over and he gave me time, and carte blanche to look deeply into Bella's pockets. I spent the better part of two hours, and Arin didn't blink or flinch once. He knew I had fallen in love. And I truly had - at 37 years old, Bella didn't have a mark on her and was equipped better than any boat I had owned before. I told him, even before the survey, that I wanted her, but he already knew, and had already contacted a highly sought-after surveyor - Andy Schwenk - to give him the heads up. He had known that she was something special when he took her into the brokerage. Arin made ALL of the arrangements for the survey: contracted the yard, contracted the surveyor, arranged for the owner to be there to answer any questions. The survey was completed 9 days later. I was present for the in-water portion, including the sea-trial. Unfortunately, I couldn't be present for the hauled portion of the survey - it had to be rescheduled because of a travel-lift failure on the original date of survey. So, Arin took charge and made videos for me of the haul-out and survey, so I could see how it was performed. As expected, the survey came back SPOTLESS - literally. There wasn't a single defect in her hull ANYWHERE! And her topsides looked just as good! In fact, it was the cleanest survey I've ever seen - including those of boats that were much younger. NOTE: My diver (David Laird) confirmed all those results two months later - told me he loves diving this boat because it's always SO clean. Knowing that would be the result of the survey, Arin had already been working on getting the title company going, and advising me of all the things I must do to complete the sale. By October 31st, I was the proud owner of Bella! Arin had already arranged a slip for me at the brokerage. He even helped the previous owner move Bella into that slip when she had to be moved out of the previous owner's marina, and I couldn't be there. A BIG thank you goes our to Mr. Warner and Arin for that one! November 7th, ONE month after I had first seen her, My friend Scott and I sailed Bella to Westpoint Harbor, where she now sits in her new home! I CAN'T say enough good about Arin Jeffers! He is truly amazing - selfless, professional, knowledgeable, ethical, kind, and patient - all the things a truly wonderful broker should be! Bravo! I will continue to maintain contact with Arin - I'm sure we will know each other for a long time to come! My name is William. Feel free to call me at 719-440-3045 if you have any questions you'd like to ask!

Maybe that's the reason why I couldn't get our agent to call us back. Even when she would text that she would return our calls we still couldn't get a call back. It's sad because she offered us a lot of benefits with her sales package. Oh well, off to another broker. It's too bad because it's an excellent Express Cruiser.
