These reviews are very strange. Dr is really not very nice. She has a very unfriendly bedside manner. I don't know why people are saying that she's so great. She did gum grafting on my gums and I need more done, but I am going to look for someone else. Maybe these reviews are fake? I can't see people saying for real that she's so nice. I found Dr. Oh on Yelp when looking for a second opinion about a pair of gum grafts. (I'd received a referral, had an initial evaluation from a large periodontist office, but found the office to be over-busy and impersonal.) At my first consultation with Dr. Oh, she strongly recommended that I space the grafts out by a year instead of getting them at once, and explained the procedure and my options clearly. Gum grafts are no one's idea of a good time, but she and her staff made the process as easy as it could be. I was incredibly grateful afterward that she had steered me to doing one side at a time (it's helpful to have one side of your mouth available to chew, after all!). Recovery went well, the before-and-after pictures show a dramatic improvement, and at my last cleaning my hygienist kept commenting on how good the graft looked ("so clean!" she said). Oh, and everything was cheaper than it would've been at the other place, too. I'll be heading back next year for the second graft, knowing I'm in good hands! I avoided the dentist for way to long. Called Dr. Oh's office as I was in pain with bleeding gums. She reassured me that she wasn't there to judge me, I have a very low tolerance to nerve pain from dental instruments. My journey back to good oral hygene started with the hygentist at Alameda Periodontics, Andrea. Andrea explanined everything that she was doing and give me encourangement to get through each deep cleaning. Once Dr. Oh gets back to work we will continue with an needed extraction which has me completely freaked out but reading other peoples comments I feel like I am in good hands here. read more

I needed a gum graft after delaying it for too long, and found Dr. Oh soon after moving to the state. This was my first major dental procedure and I was nervous. I was able to get in quickly for an appointment, and Dr. Oh and her staff were so helpful and responsive to my questions and concerns throughout the process. When I emailed non-urgent questions post-op, I got a response within 24 hours. She also recommended a local dentist for my routine cleanings which was a big help! It's always nerve racking choosing dental care providers (I've definitely been scammed before so am extra wary), and I felt so comfortable and safe with Dr. Oh and her team. I've had my share of unpleasant visits with other places, so I was a bit nervous having to get dental surgerDr. Oh explained my procedure throughly and made sure I was comfortable during my crown lengthening. Like another reviewer noted, Dr. Oh was incredibly patronizing and condescending. More importantly, she made a recommendation but if she had actually looked at my X-rays, she would have seen that what she recommended was, in fact, impossible since this had already been done. Overall, I felt incredibly uncomfortable with her communication style and lack of attention to detail. Even her hygiene instruction lacked the detail I received at another office - for a hefty fee. Dr. Oh was absolutely incredible, and I was so grateful to her and the team for their support through a stressful process. I had a growth on my gum just above one of my incisors (also, I was pretty sure it wasn't cancer but super stressed throughout this process). I first saw an oral surgeon, who said he could remove the growth but not do a gum graft, which he figured I needed, so he recommended I see a periodontist instead. After reading reviews, I planned to see Dr. Oh and one other periodontist in Oakland. The perio in Oakland (this is *not* Dr. Oh!) said that I needed to get the growth removed, immediately get a graft, and recommended some serious work on my gums generally related to some lingering deep pocket issues. I walked away feeling even more stressed out and with a "plan" that would cost $5000 out of pocket, even with very good insurance. Next I saw Dr. Oh. She described to me an approach she would take to removing the growth where a graft likely wouldn't be necessary (it wasn't - it worked so well!). She also took the time to look at my long-standing gum issues, including reviewing years of x-rays from my regular dentist, and offered a perspective I hadn't heard before in my decade of low key gum issues. She gave me some great advice and offered support in the future should I need it. The procedure to remove the growth was short, easy and effective. Dr. Oh spent so much time describing every step of the way, making sure all my questions were answered and that I was comfortable, and supporting me through a stressful process. All that, and in the end I paid less than $500 out of pocket. Seriously, one of the best dental experiences ever, and I've had plenty of dental work to compare it to (dad, I blame you for your bad tooth and gum genes!!). If you're considering Dr. Oh, I'd absolutely recommend reaching out and getting a consultation. Absolute best! read more

I cannot speak more highly of Dr. Oh at Alameda Periodontics. I was referred by my regular dentist, Dr. Bagus, for a gum graft procedure as the gum at the root of my tooth was severely recessed. This being my second gum graft procedure, I generally knew what to expect, but Dr. Oh was amazing at answering any questions I had and her bedside manner was on point. I get very nervous for medical procedures but she made sure I felt comfortable for the procedure. The graft went well and it looks SO much better now! I recently visited Alameda Periodontics through a referral I had from my doctor. I have to say, from the moment I made contact with the staff person at the front desk I received nothing but professional treatment. One of the things that stood out about that practice is that everybody was made you feel welcome and Dr. Oh was simply amazing, she is so personable. You don't get the feeling that you're just another patient. The office and work stations are clean and in order and I noticed a staff person really taking their time to sterilize the work station after a patient left the dental chair. From the moment I walked into her office, Dr. Oh and her staff (all women!!!) made me completely at ease. Tina, Bernadette, and Brenda are all absolutely amazing professional women. At my initial appointment, Dr. Oh took the time to explain to me what was happening with my gums and teeth, the risks and benefits of various treatment options, and after we had exhausted other options eventually performed two periodontal surgeries. Went to Alameda Periodontics - Dr. Oh. Looked in my mouth and stated I have severe gum disease and have had if for a long time. What a surprise, since I had never had any kind of gum disease and just had my teeth cleaned 3 wks ago. I go 2x a year like clockwork. Made an appt. for a "deep cleaning" at Dr. Oh's suggestion. Let my dentist know the diagnosis. He was shocked and very angry. You do not have gum disease. I cancelled my "deep cleaning". Whatever I had going on is gone. No pain and NO GUM DISEASE. I'd be very careful with this medical professional and GET A SECOND OPINION. I have filed a complaint with the Dental Association. read more
