No negative experiences in a long time. Replacing 5th star for stellar consistency. The office staff is sharp and attentive, the last Physician Assistant I saw was thorough and friendly. The meds I need get refilled as necessary . I feel that reviews on waiting room time are criticizing a relative rather than independent attribute. A good day at a clinic is a day of investigation into health and quality of life. Appointments may take more time for some, less for others, each case and visit may be different, and produce unpredictable needs. In short I'd rather the staff focus on accurate assessment over staying on schedule. Charges for labs and testing are clear, and explained. read more

Their private pay rates are ridiculous. The quality of care is fair. The ability to provide ongoing or continuity of care is fair.

Probably the slowest place I have ever been to. You get seen about an hour and half after your scheduled time. Also, they lack even the smallest form of compassion for people. My father had dementia and I was having an extremely difficult time getting out of the car. All I needed was a referral and they refused to come out to the car or just work/help me out at all. Wouldn't even suggest other ways they could work with me. I was at a loss. read more

I called today and was told I could come in for a 2pm appt. I arrived a few minutes early. It took nearly 20 minutes to have to fill out paperwork, then 10 more to take my 20$, then another 30 minutes - while 4 people who came after me went it. So, I approached the desk and asked what's up - That's when I was told I"m a walk in and it can take 1 to 2 hours to see someone. I disputed that, and offered to listen to the recording of the call (which they don't have). This was escalated to the manager, who said the same things as the front desk person. I was told that I could find another doctor, and that I would not be seen today. On my way out, one of the double doors apparently does not open, and I jammed by left finger, and hurt my nose, which bled. I called the corp office who is looking into it. So - for me, IMHO, This is not a place to go. read more

I called today because I have sharp pain in my abdomen. She asked me what My sym were and she put me on hold. I was on hold for over 5 minutes and she comes on again saying "thanks for holding how can I help you" I told her I'd been waiting on hold and I already told her my symptom. she said oh that's right in an annoyed voice. She then said "tell me why your coming in again" I had to tell her again. Then she proceeds to tell me she doesn't have an appointment for over a week. I just think she didn't want to deal with me. We've been meaning to switch doctors because we always have a bad experience every time. I have to go to Texas Ned clinic now. read more

I was a patient here from 2016 up until a few weeks ago. I needed a copy of my medical records as my primary care provider has changed due to a change in insurance. I was asked to provide my new doctor with a copy of my medical records. I called this office to find out how to get them and I was told I would need to drive to the office to sign a release form. No problem, I drive over and am THEN told it would take up to 15 days for my records to be faxed to my new doctor. I asked if there was any way that I could take them myself or pay for them to be expedited and I was told again that it would be up to 15 days whether they were faxed or released for me to take personally. After leaving the office not 5 mins later, I received a phone call from the receptionist stating that my medical records were "actually LOST IN A FIRE BACK IN 2018." I have been seen here MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE 2018 and they have failed to mention this fire and the loss of my records. Somehow no records exist either from 2018-2020??? What kind of office are you running that my medical records, along with "several other patients" are able to be lost in a fire and we aren't notified?? Where are the last 2 years worth of records??? If this is your only option for a primary care provider, I wish you the best of luck. You should also probably call and be sure you aren't one of the "several other patients" whose records no longer exist. read more

I tell my wife how horrible and how much I hate this place every single time. I keep telling myself over and over to change doctors. Their policies are dumb. You MUST visit every 3 months just for blood pressure refills. if is something like xanax, it's a monthly visit, they don't do xanax refills. It's one month at a time. Every visit is nearly a 2 hour visit. Getting the to call in a unscheduled refill for blood pressure meds is impossible. The staff is cool, nurses and drs and front office but it's just not worth it. They have horrible policies. They must collect 3 Billion a year on unnecessary visits. read more

What you are about to read is 100% true. I chose this place because it is much closer to my home than the Med Center. BTW, I do actually like Dr. Harry Hernandez...he is a nice and funny doctor. Getting an appointment, however, is quite the obstacle. The last 2 times I have called to either schedule or cancel an appointment, the following happened (when I actually got through on the line and the signal was not busy...which is about 80-90% of the time I call) Within the first second of answering, the person says in a rushed tone, "please hold". And you will hold.....until you finally hang up. They have never come back on the line. About 3 weeks ago, I called to make an appointment and was placed on hold. After 15 minutes on hold (not even the courtesy background music!), I decided I would just drive to the office and make the appointment in person. I stayed on hold and even showed the receptionist that I have been on hold for over 19 minutes. She had no reaction and looked at me with her eyes half open. The phone is of no use in this physician's office. Only in person appointments made. OK, so I tried it again today (this time to cancel, as anyone who I told this situation to demanded that I never go back again. Same deal....immediately placed on hold. This time, after 12 minutes, I decided I WOULD WALK TO THE OFFICE FROM MY HOUSE, across several busy streets. I mainly just wanted to see if I could actually walk to the doctor's office and cancel an appointment quicker than I could over the phone. You guessed it right, I arrived after about 36 minutes while still on hold (no one ever even checked to say "We'll be with you in a few minutes...), the phone in my hand. Now if that is not the WORST customer service ever.... Oh, in case you're wondering, the last actual appointment that I had was for 3:30pm. They took me back at 6:30pm (3 hours waiting in the waiting room for an appointment to simply get a refill for a prescription). They make me come in every 30 days for a refill and TAKE BLOOD every single time. Of course, I've never heard back about a single blood test. Beyond frustrating! Heed my warning... read more

The front desk staff seem nice, However when arriving back to the exam room, I was taken back by a young man in very baggy camouflage scrubs He took my weight all the normal vitals after the vitals he asks If I had an appointment, My appointment was at 945 and at this point it is now 11:30. He asks what I came in for, attempting to explain to him why I made the appointment he asked if I wanted a physical, after 3 times of going down this explanation of why I made the appointment and him not understanding I just left. I never saw a Doctor this rating is not representative of the doctors only the experience leading up to it. read more

The staff is nice but the service is awful. Don't expect your appt to be on time. From what it looks like on check in sheet is that their double booking physicians causing long wait times. It's really upsetting because I can manage to go to my Gyno and get a biopsy/pap smear all within an hour but can't see pcp without having to spend three hours in that office. Everyone keeps telling me to switch doctors and I'm finally to the point where I'm making the switch. If you have time to wait then this is the place for you but if your like me and don't have that luxury than find another doctors office. read more

Reception was so bad that I left before seeing the doctor. I arrived 12 minutes early, dressed nicely (no jeans) and well groomed, but treated disrespectfully by the receptionist because my major insurance carrier was having technical problems and could not pre-authorize. The office claims that they do not verify insurance coverage until the patient arrives, unlike any other physician's office I've ever been to. Instead of explaining this dilemma in a courteous manner and offering to keep trying, I was spoken to rudely and given the option of pre-paying the entire cost of the visit with no option of reimbursement. I requested that she keep trying but she continued to speak to me in a very condescending tone. This office is very close to my home and I was trying to support a neighborhood business, but I will not return. Another patient followed me out and said she had the same experience and will also find another practice. read more

My wife and I just moved to San Antonio from the North East and need to establish a primary care physician here in Texas. We visited the Alamo Osteopathic Physicians office on Guilbeau Rd, for an initial office visit to establish a relationship with a Primary Care Physician and to have our medical records transferred from our previous Doctors and Specialists. I was interview by a very discourteous male nurse (maybe a Tech), who was very impatient and just wanted to ask question with yes or no answers. When I tried to explain my medical situation, on more than one occasion, he rolled his eyes, like I was wasting his time. !!! This was so apparent and such blatant disrespect, that it really upset me. I felt like just getting up and leaving the appointment right then and there, before even seeing the doctor. Maybe that is exactly what I should have done !!! The attending physician (Dr. Travis), was courteous, but I felt that the time spent discussing my medical issues went too fast. I came out of the appointment feeling that certain things were not addressed adequately. For a first time appointment, trying to establish a relationship with a Dr. and the Dr.'s office personnel, they didn't seem to care much. I was just another chart on the clipboard. Aside from the doctor, there was a very cold personality on the part of the staff at this office, and the male nurse(Tech), was down right rude. read more

I have nothing but good experiences. You have to start understanding that this is the billing office for 5 locations, so they are always busy. However, knowing the staff by name and addressing them with the respect they deserve, will come back with positive results big time. Dr. Benavides is very caring and staff has always been professional when dealing with us. You can feel his care as a personal physician. read more

I am a patient at the Oblate satellite office of Dr. Hernandez. It is one of the worst run offices. The little girl at the front desk, Jennifer has no idea how to run a front desk. Not enough staff to answer the telephone and pull charts to get patients ready to be seen. Slow to get in and out. The patient wait is incredibly long. You call and ask the front desk girl to check out certain matters and she never calls you back. They have no referral lists and tell you to check with your own insurance. Just an awful patient environment. Staff is seen chatting and checking their cell phones. That office needs an office manager who knows how to run the front desk. They also need more staff and the front desk girl, answers phones, makes appointments checks in patients, does insurance...then hey wonder why she cannot do one thing effectively and efficiently! DO NOT USE THIS CLINIC! It MAKES you have a LEAST one star, otherwise mine would be a Zero! First visit wait time- took forever. They took the wrong information and DIDN'T even see me for WHAT I ASKED FOR!!! I needed a referral for broken boned and ruptured discs IN MY LOWER BACK- it's been OVER two weeks and their staff has managed to BOTCH that process! SO... when I called to get the situation fixed and my correct referral sent out to a pain specialist and a NEUROSURGEON (again it's been OVER two weeks) and Abigail (a call receptionist) placed me on hold immediately- Even though I asked her NOT to! Then, when I was in the middle of a sentence she placed me on hold again. At this point, I was frustrated. When she got back on the phone I asked for her name, which she had refused to give me earlier. After placing my call on hold 3 time while in the MIDDLE of talking, Abigail gave me her name and a bogus excuse about how there was no one but a nurse available to help. Irina (the person in charge of coordinating my appointments) has been 'unavailable' every time I've called the past two+ weeks except once! When she WAS available she told me the reason she hadn't gotten back to me was: she didn't look at what the sticky-note on her desk said! If you are looking for help- do NOT come here! If you want people who are professional- DO NOT come here! If you expect a clinic to know what they're doing- DO NOT COME HERE! You will be sorry if you have to deal with either ABIGAIL or Irina... and they DON'T care to know how hard they're making it for their clients which is the ONLY reason I'm putting it here! I have yet to find a good doctor that puts their patients first. I started seeing this office in Sept. 2016, because they were so close to our home. I suffer from migraines, and every time I have been to this office I have seen a different doctor to prescribe me different medicines, NEVER the same doctor or nurse practicioner. I ran out of a review and was desperate for some relief, so I called their office to see if I could get an immediate refill instead of waiting in the waiting room all day. (FYI, they DO NOT do same day appts. they will take walk-in's, but good luck you will be there ALL day waiting!) They told me no problem, to have the pharmacy call and order a refill and they would ok it right away. Right away?! I kept calling all day, with the last call being at 4:45 when their office was about to close for some rude nurse to come on the phone and tell me that I would have to be seen, and their next appt. wasn't for two days! Anyone that suffers from migraines knows how painful these are. I wouldn't have bothered with them if I knew this was going to be the end result. But they told me over several calls that they were working on the refill. I became so enraged that I told them to have my entire family's medical records sitting at the front desk as I was taking my business to a doctor that cared about their patients. They called me back to tell me record retrieval would take 7-10 business days and that each page would be $25. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! read more
