There were THREE obvious scratches, deep enough to show the metal (or plastic) underneath. I was smart enough to take pictures of these before I stepped foot (or butt, as it were) in the vehicle, for proof, just in case they tried to tell me I scratched the car myself. My time/date on my photos just might save my hash. My only beef is that I wasn't informed of the $200 refundable fee for using a debit card. It wasn't on my paperwork anywhere. I am still waiting for the refund (got it in a couple of days.)

But when asking if there is any other fees we need to know about and we get a no, we trusted that. Then asking about if we need to fill up the tank before returning the car we get the answer "it doesn't matter. If you don't fill it up it'll be like 10 bucks or whatever". Yes, ten bucks PER GALLON!!! Ridiculous. It costed us $30 to fill it earlier. We had run late due to traffic (didn't expect a color run to close every street in Nashville) so we didn't have time to get gas in order to drop off the car on time. So what happens. WE ARE CHARGED $115 FOR NOT BRINGING BACK A FULL TANK. Also they were not friendly there at all. One lady was friendly but she was the one who totally fooled us when saying it's not a big thing returning the car not filled up. The other two people we talked to were very rude.

I booked a rental on Priceline after booking my flight and making my connection to Charlotte NC. I arrived and my phone says 9pm (if your familiar with the airport it's one escalator ride to the rental car terminal) . There was no one at the car counter, but a Dr Pepper on the counter. The security guard told me it was 9:02 , my husband went outside to the cars and the front of the airport thinking someone might be cleaning cars or on break. By 9:10 we asked baggage handlers if they had seen the Avis rental person because budget counter had a sign to go to Avis. When I called customer service they told me to get an uber that the person working had clocked out early after first telling me I was late. He told me to uber back tomorrow and that if I wanted to complain he could put me through to customer service which promptly hung up because they were closed on Saturday evening.

I had quite a unique situation when I flew into CMI instead of PIA (where my hertz reservation was booked) because of airline stupidity. Vicky was a very caring person and very swiftly and painlessly converted my reservation to CMI. I was out of the airport and on my way in about 10 mins. And she was able to change my reservation so that I could drop off at PIA when I was through. Thank you Vicki!!!!!

My reservation started on Friday May 15 at noon and since I already paid for the car I thought it would be fine to show up a bit later. I've done this multiple times before with other companies. I was there before 2 pm on May 15 and was told by the agent that they had a very busy day and she gave my car to someone else and they had no car at the moment! Obviously I complained that since I paid for the car I should've had the car for the whole weekend whether I picked it up at all or not and agent's response was that since I reserved the car through a third party, Hertz doesn't guaranty to keep the car if they have demand. I wanted to talk to her supervisor and she said the supervisor was at some other center and the only phone number she could provide me with was the number of the office I was at, which the only person present there was herself. She was extremely rude instead of being apologetic or sorry or at the very least pretending to be. I asked why they didn't give me a call to see if I'm late or what and all I was told was that they don't have my number, the third party does. On top of all that (like canceling my trip wasn't enough) only when I asked if I'd be refunded automatically, she told me I have to call Hotwire and Hotwire would call Hertz and then I'll be refunded. I want to make sure it's crystal clear to everyone what's going on here. Hertz takes advantage of Hotwire and other similar websites to get more customers since those websites usually offer better prices. Even though they totally charge the customer, if the customer shows up a few mins later than the moment the reservation is supposed to start (not end!), they rent the car with a higher price to someone else. This place is at the airport so obviously they always have customers. At this moment of time Hertz had charged two people for one car, one of those two being me who never had the car and now I have to run after my money. If this is not fraud then what is it?! I called Hotwire and the customer service representative was shocked having no explanation whatsoever. She said they need about 7-10 days to investigate the case and she will file a complaint for my possible (!) refund.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE -- CHAMPAIGN, IL ENTERPRISE…read more My wife and I made a reservation with Enterprise more than a week in advance for a vehicle we needed beginning the week of September 20, 2026. We received confirmation that our reservation was set and that the vehicle would be available for pickup on September 18 after 12:00 PM. I had already provided my payment information, so we had every reason to believe our vehicle was secured and that pickup would be routine. When we arrived to pick up the vehicle, we were shocked to learn that our reserved vehicle had already been given to someone else because we weren't there at noon. Here's the problem: NO ONE EVER TOLD US THAT NOON WAS A DEADLINE. We were told the vehicle would be available after 12:00 PM. We were never told that arriving later would result in our reservation being canceled. We received NO phone call, NO text message, and NO courtesy notification whatsoever before Enterprise simply gave our reserved vehicle to another customer. I subsequently contacted Enterprise's corporate office to find out exactly what their policy was. I was told by corporate that Enterprise does not have a policy stating that a reservation is automatically canceled simply because the customer doesn't arrive at noon. I was also told that the local office is, in fact, supposed to make an effort to contact the customer before giving the reserved vehicle to someone else. That makes what happened at the Champaign location even more unacceptable. After speaking with two customer service representatives at the location, I asked to speak with the manager. A young man by the name of F******o came out to speak with me. Unfortunately, his response was one of the worst examples of customer service I have experienced. Rather than taking responsibiliy for what had happened or making any meaningful attempt to help us, F******o essentially told me that I had missed my window and that there was nothing he could do -- it was now my problem. He told me that I needed to find another way to get to my destination. I asked him a very simple question: "If you were in my position, what would you do?" His response was essentially: "Find another way." That response says a great deal about the level of customer service we received. There was no apology. No attempt to understand the situation. No meaningful effort to find us another vehicle. No sense of responsibility for the fact that we had made a reservation, relied on the information Enterprise gave us, and were never contacted before our vehicle was given away. Instead, we were left to deal with the consequences of a decision made by the local office. This is not how a customer who made a reservation with Enterprise should be treated. Mistakes happen. I understand that. But when a company makes a mistake--or when its employees fail to follow the company's own stated procedures--the proper response should be to acknowledge it, apologize, and make a reasonable effort to help the customer. We received none of that. F******o was unfriendly, disrespectful, extremely unprofessional, and completely unsympathetic to our situation. His attitude made an already frustrating situation considerably worse. I am posting this review because other customers deserve to know what happened before trusting this location with an important reservation. My experience with Enterprise in Champaign, Illinois was unacceptable from beginning to end. After this experience, I will think twice before ever making another reservation with this location.
