Even if you're a local, this is a good place to duck in and enjoy the blasting a/c and get some coupons for some of the things to do. There's always something new going on around downtown, and these people have their finger on the pulse. Got a question about San Antonio? They have the answers. They're more than eager to help, give directions, make recommendations, or just brag on San Antonio. Tourism is one of the largest industries in San Antonio with the Riverwalk and the Alamo being some of the most visited tourist destinations in the Lone Star State. These guys do a great job of promoting the city, and making out of towners feel welcome.

As Curt C say, very helpful, very friendly! They like most Visitor Center very knowledgeable of places see, child friendly places visit! Even can get coupons, such as think was call Mirror Maze! Of course many the items child friendly was recommended by San Antonio Food Bank! Anyway, this place will and does give brochures, maps, can even buy the daily bus pass here! Always patient, as say most Visitor Center, always patient, always helpful, willing answer many questions (yes this guest had lots questions) that Guest may have! I highly to recommend this Visitor Center! Came to San Antonio July 2008! I say most, only Visitor Center I had trouble so call town Folsom, California! As also say, many Food Banks many Salvation Army Corps, they send me what I like (comes out in the animal art work)! Between this San Antonio Visitor Center and the Food Bank saw many, only I not try something call Amusement Parks! Leg injury 2005, cannot or not want try ride most the rides! I high to recommend this Visitor Center! Thank Curt C for your comments!

The staff and volunteers are always kind and knowledgeable, and there is so much natural beauty to take in throughout the preserve. Every visit feels a little different depending on what birds are out, which makes it easy to keep coming back. I'm so grateful San Antonio has a place like this.

11 Feb 2023 Nice event they host for Valentine's Day…read more $25 per person gets you the guided hike around the lake and a picnic lunch. You can opt for just the home, if you wish. Thirty of us took the hike with four certified naturalists. A couple were bird experts. They brought powerful telescopes on tripods for us to view. They pointed out stuff totally foreign to me. To me, all birds are sparrows - small, medium and big. Ha, ha. Most of the 30 people in the group were serious birders, members of various Audubon societies. Some have been to foreign countries to be able to see a specific bird. God love 'em. We drove in a caravan to the wetlands. One of the missions was to see the sunset over the water. Other missions were to see a killdeer, egrets, pelicans. Ducks were everywhere. The one drawback was that no one brought flashlights. Once the sun sets. It gets mighty dark out there. Maybe a chupacabra is out there. You wouldn't know until it was too late. We'll, we survive the march. Waiting for us we're our dinners from W.D. Deli. You can't go wrong with them. We had turkey and havarti on white with potato salad and one of their big-ass cookies and a soda. Yum. Afterwards, the guides served wine. A pretty good event.
