If you are or are considering NGIC for your insurance coverage…read more.. if there were subzero stars that's what they would get. If you are insured by or considering NGIC (National General Insurance Company), you need to be a fully informed consumer. I will never know whether the sudden illness and unexpected, untimely death of my previously healthy 8-year-old dog was impacted by my inability to secure transportation to the hospital for over eight hours due to the lack of a pet-friendly Uber--circumstances directly and needlessly created by National General Insurance Company (NGIC)'s unlawful refusal to authorize payment for repairs they authorized and were responsible for, after the work was completed which forced the repair shop to hold my car hostage for 5 days (not the shops fault). I will carry that uncertainty, along with the grief and frustration, for the rest of my life. What I do know with certainty is that I should never have been placed in that position--no one should be--and certainly not as the not-at-fault party, on top of an already stressful situation. Be clear in understanding that this was not an "accident." Video evidence, the police report, and the issuance of multiple warrants against the at‑fault driver once identified establish that the conduct was deliberate and intentional, dangerous and intended at a minimum to intimidate and potentially to cause harm. That is the behavior this company elected to protect, incapacitating my ability to drive to/from work and get my furchild medical attention, while allowing that individual to remain on the road with the foreseeable risk of repeating these actions and causing physical harm to others. The highly recommended, very reputable and well established repair shop staff were audibly and visibly shaken after what they described as the most horrific drawn out back and forth with the meanest most callous and incompetent insurance company representatives (including and especially those in "supervisory" positions) they have ever encountered let alone had to work with in their 50 years of business. Formal complaints were filed with the NCDOJ Consumer Complaints Division and the NC Dept of Insurance Regulatory Agency as well as the BBB.

This is a horrible company. One of their insured ran into my parked vehicle. We contacted and began…read morea claim. This process took over a months' time. We received no calls and no follow up. They scheduled dates, missed the dates and became offended when questioned. They totaled out my vehicle and became very abusive, short and disrespectful when I inquired about the process. After about a month a total loss agent sent me an email containing their low ball offer for my vehicle at 8:30 pm. She stated that she would be out of the office for 11 days and that I could send an email to a generic email address if I had questions. I eventually contacted a total loss prevention agent (D. Welcome). I cannot begin to describe how bad this interaction was. She would not allow me to speak, cut me off, and became upset when I attempted to ask any questions. She repeatedly reminded me that the call was being recorded as a way to threaten me I believe. She eventually sent me corrupt files that I could not open. She then ghosted me for days, prolonging the process. At the date of this posting I am still awaiting to finalize this process and be compensated for having my property destroyed. If you do not have to interact with this company steer clear.

I said I sent them. They said oh yeah! Let see what's going on and get back to you. Never heard from them. I called again and was given a date. Still no info. Called the person who hit me and she was told the same thing. No pictures submitted. So I gave her the pictures and said she would submit them.I think they're taking her money with no plans on fixing my car. What a terrible insurance company.
